Always watch out for Emmanuel Macron
there have always been one UN, with one security which is the security council, made up of rules governing all nations... So what is new here ?

I could remember vividly well during OBJ regime that no work no pay. Someone needs to shift the goal post. Considering the situation we find ourselves, I believe government has tried enough to pay February and March salaries. Many ASSU members are on borrowing to sustain themselves and their families. And the future look uncertain, so it will be wise to accept this offer before it is too late.

Not possible

CBN issues BVN and not deposit money banks. They'd have to send everything including fingerprint to CBN before a BVN is issued.
The question is does CBN chech new fingerprints against all existing ones? I doubt they do.

Is it still possible to operate accounts in Nigeria without BVN? It seems there are people in this country who get away with no following the rules

Anyway, this government is a propaganda government. Buhari announced that he has approved lecturers payment just to score cheap points. His supporters were hailing him. Then they have brought another rule. Before the payment will finally touch lecturers hands, it will be July

It's a sad commentary that it's academics that are turning back the hand of clock in Nigeria.

ASUU is corrupt.

Unfortunately for them, they are dealing with a federal government that is very very tricky this time around.

Covid19 has given the federal government the negotiating edge as of now.

Some ASUU members who were previously stubborn about the IPPIS issue are now so weakened financially because of the pandemic.

Even their ASUU strike has been rendered so inconsequential by Covid19.

A lot of them will just crawl back to the Federal government on their knees now in shame and total defeat.

ASUU is useless.

With this ground standing of ASUU not providing BVN for payment of their salary it's obvious ASUU members have multiple jobs making it difficult for people without jobs to have job.

ASUU members needs to free up the space so that other unemployed Nigerians can be employed as lecturers instead of lecturing in multiple universities and drawing multiple salaries.

I had a lecturer that taught me during my post graduate days he was lecturing in my university in Port Harcourt and also lecturing in Benue state at the same time, one week in Port Harcourt two weeks in Benue.

These are the universities i know, i am pretty sure he has more universities he's lecturing.
My brother I concur with you. I once assisted one of my lecturers in marking examination scripts some years back. The examination scripts comprises schools from one public university and one state university and one private university, but what amazed most was the approach adopted in marking those scripts. Public university students dey suffer from these lecturers hand o. I reserve my comment.

They don't have to.

If your fingerprints have ever been used for BVN, it cant be used again. The machine will continue rejecting any further attempts.

Note, the machines are integrated to a single server which issues a BVN upon confirmation it was never used for same purpose.

Na FG still go bend last.

From IPPIS to BVN not made available.
See as the FG has been shifting base.

Only the ASUU has the scrotum of the Federal government in its hand to squeeze anyhow it likes.

That was because ASUU cried out about 3 days ago that FG should understand that they too are under the lockdown with wives and children, that FG should be sensitive to their plight. Na covid-19 and impending starvation that made FG bend

It's not just by bvn.

They will also provide their staff number.

That's why the FG has to get the information thru their vice chancellors.

These lecturers are very corrupt. They have multiple accounts. Many of them teach in private universities too and draw salaries from there in breach of federal civil service laws. That's why they are resisting application of BVN and IPPIS .
One ignoramus spotted!!!!
What does multiple account has to do with corruption
People like you will just open mouth and speak what you don't know.
The university law allows one to visit other university and lecture.
And lastly, if funds are released to the university for a project or something, did you think they normally share it among all ASUU member or is ASUU the only union in the university community??
Be learned!!!

The reason the so called advanced countries are ahead of us is because of how they manage their intelligentsia.
We have 2000 Nigerian trained doctors in the UK.
Think for one moment of the cost of producing them and the opportunity cost of not retaining them.

Two weeks ago we had a crisis in Rivers state about EXPATRIATES

why are we not producing people who can do the jobs of these expatriates

Why is it unlikely that a cure for coronavirus will come from Nigeria

This is an artificial and unnecessary crisis created by a government with a military mindset that does not value human capital.

The government is trying to control the universities something they couldn't do under the military government.

Now they want to have the switch for Lecturer salaries in Abuja where they can turn it off and on at will for any reason.

The reality is this CANNOT succeed. It will only succeed in reducing quality which is at an all time low.

If this is about fraud there are enough laws to tackle that.

This is about CONTROL.
They do this because their children do not attend these universities.

The people cheering need exposure to how the foreign universities that Buhari and Osinbajo send their children work.

It is very sad because the damage of 2 months ago battle cannot be undone in 20 years.

Eventually you end up with people not fit to teach in secondary schools as university lecturers

it's obvious and clear that ASUU is a fraudulent union.
Because I do not see any reason they reject FG BVN mode of payment...

OK.
But come to think of it o, this BVN thing is flawed. It is flawed in the sense that one man can still have multiple bvn attached to multiple accounts. Just do it across different banks and claim you were unbanked or without account hitherto. As long as the fingerprints aren't fed into a supercomputer that checks every account holder against all other existing account holder, it is highly flawed.
not possible , you can't have multiple bvn

Did you read it in the report that they were asked to go and register for BVN? If some of you should take IQ test, only God knows what your results will be!

Anyway, this government is a propaganda government. Buhari announced that he has approved lecturers payment just to score cheap points. His supporters were hailing him. Then they have brought another rule. Before the payment will finally touch lecturers hands, it will be July

We love this government and its propaganda. The propaganda that is getting the jobs done. Yes Buhari announced that the payment has been approved. How does giving condition negate the approval of the payment? Some of you need to borrow sense before commenting here

There are more efficient multinationals in Nigeria that pay salaries without all these stories of multiple salaries

This is not about multiple salaries but bringing the universities under control from Abuja

Surely the government with all its resources must be able to gather evidence of 1 or 2 cases of people cheating the system if that is truly what this is about.
Let them publish details of ONE CASE.
Why are they not doing the same thing with NNPC
Personally I believe the government should sell the universities off to improve quality but that is another matter

The reality is this is all about control and dominance.

There is a very good reason why universities need independence

This FG is SCAM

If FG wants to "show magnanimity " as they claimed, then it should be with no strings attached. Why claim you want to give consideration to the lecturers and then attach conditions?

This period, people have been receiving a lot of calls claiming to be from their banks, claiming one thing or the other and asking the person to give some details like ATM card details before his "locked" account can be "reactivated ".

Now, you want thousands of lecturers to submit their BVN just like that? Who does the compilation? You want to compromise sensitive details of thousands of people in your bid to be "magnanimous". How can you guarantee the safety of this kind of info. Tomorrow, we'll start hearing stories of lecturers being scammed or people calling them with their exact bank details or people kidnapping them and demanding for the exact amounts in their bank accounts.

If I were a lecturer, I will never comply with this. I repeat, it is scam
