[quote author=modgba post=88769110]UBA, MTN, 10 Others 'Loan' Investors 27 million Stocks https://businesspost.ng/economy/uba-mtn-10-others-loan-investors-27-million-stocks/ This article is a bit misleading. The companies do not lend out their shares. Rather HNIs and persons/corporates with large holdings of these companies shares lend them out through securities lending agents registered with NSE. |

Amid COVID-19 impact, Nigeria’s bond auction for April oversubscribed by 459%, says DMO. Despite the ravaging impact of the dreaded Coronavirus on the global economy, the Debt Management Office (DMO) on Thursday said the latest Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) Bond Auction for April 2020 still enjoyed overwhelming patronage. The debt management agency said the auction, which held on Wednesday, followed the familiar trend since the beginning of the exercise this year, as it was oversubscribed. During the auction, the DMO said it offered investors about N60 billion Bonds across three tenors– N20 billion each for the 5-Year, 15-Year and 30-Year categories. “The total subscriptions received through competitive bids for the three instruments was about N275.67 billion, indicating an overall subscription level of 459 per cent,” the DMO Director-General, Patience Oniha, said in a statement by her spokesperson, Chinenye Onu. “Demand was very strong for all the instruments offered at the Auction. A breakdown of the subscriptions shows that the sum of N49.70 billion, or 248.50% was received for the 5-year Bond; N107.47 billion or 537.35% for the 15-year Bond and N118.50 billion or 592.25% for the 30-year Bond,” the DG said. She said successful bids were allotted at the rate of 9 per cent for the 5-Year, 12 per cent for the 15-Year and 12.5 per cent for the 30-Year Bond, with all of them lower than the rates at the March 2020 FGN Bond Auction. The total amount allotted for competitive bids was N156.06 billion across the three tenors, while the about N20 Billion was allotted through non-competitive bids for the 5-year and 15-year tenors, bringing the total amount allotted from competitive and non-competitive bids to N176.06 billion. During the February edition of the auction, the DMO said investors oversubscribed by about 284.43 per cent about N140 billion offered across three instruments, namely the 5-Year tenor valued at about N45 billion for a 10-Year tenor: 10 and 30-Year tenor of about N50 billion. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/coronavirus/389393-amid-covid-19-impact-nigerias-bond-auction-for-april-oversubscribed-by-459-says-dmo.html 1 Like |

onegentleguy: ...It's alright. ![]() ![]() ![]() When the equity market begins to receive its own patronage and certain selects stocks start to surge in price, then some investors will begin to see things clearly. ![]() ![]() Many will keep crying wolf and miss out on some clear opportunities. Again, people should rely less on what the media put out and do their homework well. ...hear this; Oftentimes, the value drive from the price of an asset will usually lag/preceed information dissemination and the eventual action/play that would've driven it. ...that's why u hear such terms as; "it has already been priced in." Nigeria is so bad and with over-the-roof risk premium, yet investors are embracing the country's bond like never before. ...over 4.5x(459%) in oversubscribtion. ![]() ![]() ![]() The equity market is presenting a juicy opportunity for the mid to long-term investors. I have said that the twin worry of oil price strain and covid-19 will come and go. ...just seek to tap from the select opportunities "they bring with them before they go back with it !!" PharmAlfred: Good result! except that N54bn was lost due to foreign exchange. This means that the otherwise wonderful performance of this bank in Q1 over last year was overshadowed by FOREX losses leading more or less to a flat result. This may be a recurrent theme in the other banks and is definitely going to be worse in Q2. Na God hand we dey oo for this COVID. May HE remove this plague from our midst. 1 Like |

OGG, weldone sir, I have advised several people on this, but the issue is everyone has his own risk appetite. I had an uncle that invested his Pension in stocks about 5years ago and I advised him on some shares, and till date, he has made X3 of his capital, which he has since withdrawn and currently enjoying dividend on the Principal sum. Everyone has his story of the capital market, while some are good, others are bad, so in all everyone will be alright. onegentleguy: 3 Likes |

austinkenneth: On ACCESS, this was expected. ...the clue was there in their books from 3 quarters ago. ...when an approx average 34% of the banks gross loan book was denominated in fx currency. They did try to hedge against any severity of impact by seeking a few early bond redemptions given the fall in interest rate before now, while also having a business framework that allows for a higher interest income against expense, otherwise impact(from Fx risk) would've been more. Their 2nd risk line is on the high exposure to the oil & gas space. But then again, a risk magt roadmap that enforces strict adherence to recoveries has helped keep overall NPL at bay and ensured that the groups AsQ isn't badly hit. Are there worries? ...Yes. Are they in trouble? ...No !! ...not at all my dear. Look deeper into their books and yee shall find out why. ![]() ![]() ![]() The stock retains a BUY rating !! Regards 3 Likes 1 Share |

@all two quick questions: 1) do you know whether some traders trade on the NSE using computer algorithm as they do in the US? 2) do you know if there is any stock tracker/software specifically for trading on the NSE (aside from the not too good yochaa on play store) which can alert me whenever a preselected stock has reached a predetermined price range? Thanks. |

PharmAlfred: I initially raised an eyebrow at the approximately 60% increase in other operating expense quarter on quarter. Q1 2019 represents only the old Access Bank while q1 2020 is Access + Diamond... The merger improved the top line but was almost not felt at all in the bottom line... Effect of coronavirus only ![]() ![]() Hope Zenith doesn't follow the same route post purported merger with union... 2 Likes |

DrAwo: Relatively flat result albiet with an improved performance accross several KEY revenue and earnings line. ...UBA also retains a BUY rating. However with this report, ACCESS still maintains a top spot ahead of UBA for us given their current market prices.(MoS from FVE with risk-reward peg in view) It is well. 6 Likes |

onegentleguy:Sir OGG, thanks so much for bringing result analysis back to this thread. Those Q1 short analysis makes so much sense. God bless you. ![]() I just hope other analysts will also come back. I equally hope those that are good at attacking the person of analysts, their analysis and opinions will desist from doing so. They somehow "chased" and discouraged them. Let's learn to counter with constructive criticisms, whereby we'll all learn instead. Someone needs to look for our detecthief and bring her back so she can arrest any trouble maker. ![]() 2 Likes |
