My worst Job interviewed experience was quite memorable and eventful. Some years ago shortly after my Youth Service Year in PH-Rivers State I applied to work with National Identity Management Commission(NIMC) as software developer and quality assurance. After applying for the above mention post, I was shortlisted for a Computer Base Test at the University of Ilorin. I took the test and passed. later I was invited for an interview in Abuja and I went for it. During the interview, the interviewer asked me "how many years Post NYSC Cognate experiences do I have"? I said 2yrs. The interviewer then said to me that she's sorry I am not qualified to apply for the job position. Reason being that the commission needed applicants with 10 years Post NYSC working experiences to fill in the Job position and I had just 3years post NYSC working experiences. I felt frustrated and disappointed. Imagine coming from a far distance to Abuja for an interview only to be told that I was not qualified for the job. I had to exit the interview premises immediately out of annoyance. Some months later I had from a friend that people employed had to be trained for the job positioning. If I will be trained by the end of the day, why capitalizing on working experiences, I asked myself. This is Naija for You. That was how I lost the job and I felt it was a bad interviewed for me. Instead of looking for job in Naija you better look for connection oooo.

Some company know, they need only 2 or 3 employee, they ended up inviting 100 applicant, is very annoying, they know what they are doing, by start gathering ideas on how they will grow their organisation.

Note : they already had the list of candidate that will fix the post.

Do you know how many people hope for a chance of an interview? Some folks may not be so good at aptitude tests but excel when given the chance to express themselves verbally/ face to face especially sales roles.

As an interviewer, interviews can be so time consuming, physically exhausting and takes precious time you can use to meet your professional targets.

Any company whose prospective recruits know better than the managers should check themselves again so I wonder which ideas they're stealing.

We enjoy in respect to interviews here. Try professional interviews in multinational coys, if you pass video interviews alone you're lucky

my was last year with a multi national company, I took there aptitude taste and passed successfully and we the successful one's were told to go that the would contact us, after some weeks I woke up one morning and saw a message from the company inviting me for an interview, and that I should meet Mr.ken(not real name when I arrive) when i get to the venue by 9a.m
I hurriedly prepared and rushed down to the venue, mind you it was in a neighboring state,so I arrived late around after 10a.m, luckily for me others that came were still waiting, then I asked about Mr.ken as instructed by the message, the showed me his office, I knocked and entered and saw 2 guys, I greeted them and the asked me how the may help me,I told them am looking for Mr.ken and showed them instruction in the message, the asked me if am ready for the interview, I said yes(but I wasn't) na so the start bombard me with question, and oh mehn.. I failed woefully but to my greatest surprise after a week, the company invited me for another interview and this time I was at my best, and God did it for me I got the Job

My first ever graduate interview with @Heritage bank. We had passed first and second test so 10 of us were invited to their H/O. This was in 2012/2013 after NYSC. The interview dragged and i ended up bn the last person to be interviewed at 7.20pm. The guys were just asking me loads of questions about CNN news etc. I did well with questions that were local or current affairs but those CNN news questions threw me off balance (me wey be say na NTA or channels then). Finally, one asked whats your nick name and i told em CBN Gov. Long and short, they laughed and told me to go home! I was so embarrassed but God didnt want me there cos a week later I got rejection mail. Good news was I got an MFB job 3 months later and four months into working with the MFB, a big commercial bank came calling...The rest is history. Perhaps if I was in HB then, might have been sacked now with all the issues and downsizing that has happened there. #Keepthefaith

I was drained. After beating over 500 people through several tests and interviews that started 9am, at 11.30pm without food only water, they picked one person from two left standing. It wasn't me.

Mine was really frustrating.
When I passed the DSSS exam, then we went for oral interview, that's earlier last year
After checking my documents and discovered that am from the same community as Nnamdi Kanu, their first question was; where is your king? I answered that I don't know his whereabouts, then the main questions started flooding focusing on IPOB and I was like is this an interview or interrogation.
A friend of mine who later got the job said I that his uncle told him I passed very well just that am Nnamdi Kanu's brother is the reason I lost out. Honestly I was happy they didn't take me, imagine working in such an environment you are already seen as a rebel in just your first appearance

If by DSSS, you mean Direct Short service, your write up is not true sir...

I had the same experience as your first story, it was KPMG, I had smashed all the test and it was just face to face interview, it went terribly, I was so nervous I thought I was going to faint. Surprisingly enough, they gave my second thoughts, while others were receiving acceptance or rejection emails, I did not see mine till much later. It was the worst experience ever. But the interviewers were nice.

They started asking me questions about my home to calm me down. It was humiliating, but I wish they understood that the only reason I got nervous was because of how much importance I put into getting into the company.

But I am actually really happy they did not give me a chance, else I won't be here today, I know what I have achieved now I would not have achieved in 20 years in KPMG

Happy that you got over the initial disappointment. Please what year was the interview? Was this at the assessment center stage or interview with manager? Also, if you don't mind, could you enlighten us a bit about where you eventually settled into that paid off way better than KPMG?

I went for an interview as a teacher in a very big school in Gwarinpa, Abuja. (Expensive)
I live in kuje, on the day of the interview I left my house by 6am in the morning and got to the school at about 7.30am. The interview was for 8 a.m. Na so the proprietress come tell me to write application letter, write another letter about how I encountered Jesus, write a lesson note on Computer softwares ( System and application softwares) , then do teaching practice. After that na so the madam come interview me. I was there till 5pm.
I passed the exams, did well with the lesson notes, and also the oral interview.
Time to tell me my salary, the madam said that she would pay me 40k. My ears went deaf for about 2 minutes, I kept saying sorry... Sorry... Sorry... As if I didn't understand what she said.
I told her thank you and left.
When I got home I said to myself: why slave for someone and earn that peanut!! tongue
40k? Most Private school owners are wicked, they collect millions as school fees and pay their staff peanuts. I have a Bsc degree.
I also have a PGD in Education and a TRCN certificate and I also have a passion to teach.
I called my mum and told her I wanted to start my own school in kuje, my mum surprised me and sent me a huge sum of money to start my school. It was like film trick.
Today to the glory of God I have my own school. I bless God I didn't accept that offer.

Mine was funny though.
It was during my 6 months internship programme, and i was linked up to a company on the island. After passing their tests, i was called up for their interview. On to say i don stay house for close to 2 months, i wanted to get into this company by all means. So i got very nervous when i was told i was the next to be interviewed.
I got in the hall and i saw four men, my heart started racing, my head went blank. I was asked to introduce my self, i just talk am some how how. Then one of them asked me the capital of nigeria.
I said kampala. They all started laughing, in short one of them started choking on the laughter. They had to bring water for him, after he calmed down, he continued laughing. I was so embarassed. Then the choked man said, mo like Bobo kampala yi. (he likes me). They asked the question again though, and i told them the correct answer, they understood i was nervous.
I got the job though cos i had internal links, but na kampala them call me throughout my stay there.
Kampala my guy! Lol...you made me laugh I swear!

Are you a teacher?
If yes, you can easily get a PGD in Education with NTI ( National Teachers Institute ). They have their study centres in all the states including FCT. ( It's a one year program with only Saturday lectures) But be ready to read o!! The sizes of the handouts is out of this world.
You can check their website for more details, I know that you can still get admission for 2020 session. Just check their website. smiley
