As Lagos state Nigeria enters its third week of lockdown due to the Coronavirus pendamic, family members of over 600 staff sacked by Mikano International Limited have expressed shocke over the sack of their bread winners.

According to one of the affected staff, ‘I have just returned from a trip of delivering generators to a nearby state when I was called upon to take my sack letter.’

‘This is a very disturbing situation. How do I feed my family during this lockdown? I sincerely do not know what came over them on this mass sack.’

A copy of the letter sighted by our reporter from the company has ‘advised the affected staff that this is an appraisal after which the company felt that their services were no longer needed. The company wished them luck in the near future.’

But expressing anger on the sudden dismissal, another member of staff affected by the sacke said ‘Which appraisal are they talking about? Look, in the next two weeks, Mikano will still re employ staff; that has been their way but what is now disturbing is why this time? Where do I go from here, its quite heartless of the company to render us ineffective.’

‘Rising cases of crime are everywhere, what else should I do?’

A visit to Mikano International office located on Acme Road proved abortive as security personnel attached to the company barred the reporter from the office.

Mikano International Limited is the sole manufacturer of Mikano Generators and also franchise holders of Geeky and ZNA6 brand of vehicles.

Oh, the COVID-19 recession has started already. God help us.

Modified:

I said it before in my article, that the COVID-19 recession was looming. Here's the link to the article: https://www.nairaland.com/5809016/life-after-covid-19-5-actions

If care's not taking, the recession will be worse than the pandemic itself. May God help Nigeria and Nigerians, as we lack insightful leaders.

This pandemic is sure going to cost more people their jobs.

The main issue is that there's no way to help them out during this period. No way.
Every Nigerian is on their own and it's really sad.

I'm just glad this is opening the eyes of Nigerians to how our voting decisions and indecisions have a long term effect.
Just Sad embarassed

It's starting. You think staying home will help people?
Okay keep locking Nigeria.
Since the lockdowns, how many test have been carried out? Lagos only is 17mil+ and 8k+ tested, almost a month. We will wait till everyone is tested. That would be next year. Let's keep staying home. Simple

This Govt, the rich gives no fvck about you.
People will be sacked big time. It will get to you

Business are going down all over the country due to this pandemic
Other developed countries are bringing up measures to assist small and medium businesses by guaranteeing them bail out funds si as not to witness what these mikano staffs are witnessing
Even some subnational, states in the developed countries are already broke, this will help you to know what is about to hit Nigeria soon and even other African countries
The developed countries are also helping their citizens with palliatives so they won't starve
I don't want to make comparisons here with Nigeria but the only thing I have to say is that this total lockdown is affecting Africa more and would be devastating to their fragile economy
Africans should look for a way to address their own issues internally and not following the trial-and-error method that the Europeans are using
May God help us in this country

Unfortunately more will still happen because most economies have gone broke and this super includes Nigeria!!!
And through forex, some are even getting richer especially this period... grin grin grin tongue
