Sir, I reside in Lagos, Nigeria.
Then you should know that what you wrote up there is impossible in this country.

Sorry, my bad. Wanted to type 50000

So are you saying 50k deaths is very negligible?
People will die anyway. The flu has killed 62000 hunger kills many more. You can't cos of that ask people to stay home, you may reduce corona deaths or even suspend for a while ( as people with underlying illness will die of something else if not well taken care of) but hunger will kill not just the vulnerable but healthy too

So if numbers are increasing what exactly does that mean?

Covid19 only takes 15 days incubation period to manifest itself, but in 27 days cases have moved from 50 to 600 and you claim the virus is not spreading

People are moving from Lagos, Abuja and Ogun state to Other states within that period to spread to other states and you claim it's not spreading.

Like you don't understand my earlier comment

Lock down is the simplest method of practicing social distancing by some countries with effective social security systems

Nigeria doesn't have the means or ability to implement a lock down that is effective so we need a new method of social distancing that is innovative

Is it that you are enjoying this back and forth quotes, or you are deliberately forcing yourself not to understand me?

Now we are currently on lockdown
Is Iamgrey infected? No
If the lockdown is lifted, is it possible for him to be infected? Obviously yes

The reason why you are seeing increased numbers is because THEY HAVE INCREASED THE NUMBER OF TESTS. THEY HAVE INCREASED THE NUMBER OF TESTS. THEY HAVE INCREASED THE NUMBER OF TESTS. THEY HAVE INCREASED THE NUMBER OF TESTS

If you conduct a test for 1 million people today, you'll see an increased number. It just shows you that these are the infected ones, not necessarily that they caught it today

But if you remove the lockdown, it becomes more difficult to find them, and the infected ones(who don,t know) will keep spreading it.

I hope your next quote wont let us dwell on this anymore

Why lock down over a virus that has a morality rate lower than malaria?

Because you can prevent malaria in the course of your day to day activities, you can’t prevent Covid 19 if everyone is moving freely. Malaria has a cure, this doesn’t.

I really don’t care anymore. If we want lockdown fine, if you want to open up fine. Like I said our population could do with pruning anyway.

At the end of the day, it will end one day it will end. I will remain on lockdown to give myself the best chance to be alive when it is all over!

People are free to do as they wish.

The economy is already bad, so lock down till we wrap up all those infected and open up after wrapping it up. So let's continue lock down

People have died of covid19 without 'underlying illnesses.'...while some with underlying illnesses, or who are old (and some are very old) have survived.

Very very very true.
That's what they don't understand.
They don't know that a lot of highly vulnerable people survived the virus while people with no issues died.

They have not been following this epidemic.

You are slow-witted. I very much understand that saving has always been your problem but only someone alive can be hungry.
I see in one of your posts saying the fatality rate is low thus government should leave its citizens to die? That is a definition of Shallow Mind.

From your argument.. I'm very sure you are irresponsible Financially. So, Keep exhibiting your shallow mind.. Okay!

Tomorrow we hope govt partially open up the country so they can be economic activities, as people will start taking hygienic measure In thier daily activities

As for you..... You can live forever in the corner of your room in the name of lockdown.

Show proof that healthy people died?

Ok...here is some stats from New York...

6839 people died in New York by April 14

137 had no underlying conditions.

A minority, but proof that 'healthy people die'.

No

They have not increased the test. They are still doing the same thing they did before the lock down.

The head the NDDC himself said yesterday that they are still testing half their capacity.

In a press conference on Friday, a representative of NDDC said they do not need to do house to house testing as done in other countries that implemented lock down because according to him" they are not in the race to test the most patients"

All this despite the fact that evidence as shown that testing and isolating is the most important activity to curb the spread of the virus.

In other African countries that implemented a lock down, Ghana has tested close to 100,000 people, South Africa close to 150,000 people in the same period as Nigeria. None of this countries has half our population.

Nigeria have only tested 10,000. People.

Not ignorance per se...more like 'my pocket is dry and I am suffering because the lockdown has closed my means of employment'

(And just this past week, Mikano sacked 400 workers. They are not the first company to do so, and they won't be the last)

The problem is, we loosen things, and it might get worse. The economy then would be the least of our worries.

For me, I still support the LOCKDOWN for the next one month

Let us sacrifice this little time and see the curve flatten to a reasonable extent.

Nigerians sef are not helping. Stay at home, everyone is screaming hunger (which is true). But isn't it better to feel hunger, than see your loved ones die because of something without cure?

Face masks can be enforced, but it's difficult for Social distancing to be. From markets, to banks, to busstops, to churches, to everywhere....Only walking along Idumota or Obalende sef na wahala

If this lockdown is lifted, na God hand we dey. NCDC are already overburdened despite thelockdown. Imagine when it's lifted

This is a very big risk to be taken on Monday. God will see us through

Let it be lifted. Until our govt start telling us the truth. This country's politician are a worst nightmare and more dangerous than the pandemic. To me, the only reason for the extension after governors held their meeting is to enable them loot more as ganduje is already expecting 13bn so others will demand theirs

lockdown should have been a solution but people violated it due to the hunger, so let lift it for 1 or 2 weeks with compulsory nose mask and social distant

First, the great depression of 1930 was not as a result of the Spanish Flue of 1918-1919 but a tumble in USA stocks which spread to other parts of the globe.
2ndly, if the movement is truly curtailed during this period the curve would be truly flattered. A security man went to Kano and back during the last 2 weeks and one of the people that died recently travelled from Lagos to Ondo. If movement is truly halted be sure Nigeria would be out of the wood.
Economic crash is inevitable but I trust and believe Nigeria and Nigerians to bounce back stronger than before.
If 100,000,000 Nigerians get infected and 5% of that number dies which includes the parent of your enemy, siblings of a hater and kids of a known enemy just so we all can get infected to develop a medically unconfirmed immunity for getting reinfected?

Economic crash is inevitable but I trust and believe Nigeria and Nigerians to bounce back stronger than before.

With the rampaging pandemic not slowing down and many folks suffering under the pressure of hunger, there is a great debate on whether the lockdown should be lifted.

Option 1:
Maintain the lockdown, provide palliatives and increase testing and medical response.

Option 2:
Lift lockdown within the country, block international flights, enforce face masks, hand washing, use of hand sanitisers, etc. And let us battle it head long till there is a cure.

Which part of the debate are you?
none of the options will work!! Just watch!

Where will you get any of the items in the options?
