So it's now by force to donate money to the government right? Without consultation with labor union or workers. Other countries are helping their citizens in difficult times like these, so what you can think of is to double the hardship on your people?

The term "donation" is merely to make their action look humane and excusable... The man never planned to pay full salaries! Can't say I blame him.

The future of this nation's economy is not looking good at all!
The 25% donation will come from senior public servant whose netpay after tax is 67,000. I respected him for making it mandatory for all political appointees to each contribute 500k and then from henceforth, forfeit 50% of their salaries. This is fair

It has started. The civil servants will always be the first casualty in government.
What happens to those politicians and their appointees taking large chunk of the resources?

Selfish private establishment who never wanted to pay salary in the first instance will now escalate it.

Are politicians and their employees not public servants again?

Why una too like to complain!!Why?

If no provision is made for millions of the poor in that State will you be happy? Now where should mallam Rufai get the money??

What of cost of transportation which often covers 25% of expenses on wages

Besides, Feeding at work is more expensive as most of them have to buy food from food vendors

Regardless, Government has to raise money to feed the population from somewhere.

Most private companies are laying off workers or reducing workers salary by 70%

Nigerians truly deserve the leaders they get. Imagine justifying this.

Other countries are furloughing employees and supporting businesses with grants. Go and read up on how other governments across the world are supporting their citizens, furloughing in the UK etc.

Is only a matter of time before the public servants will go with nothing as monthly pay..So I think the pay cut is to make them accustomed easily to tougher days ahead.
.
If this pandemic extend beyond the next 2 - 3 months...trust me, there will be little or no federal allocation for states and what does that imply
What about the federal workers?

My sister, read the post well before you complain. The man is after political appointees and senior staff. He made it mandatory for all political appointees to contribute #500k each and from henceforth forfeit 50% percent of their salaries.
Senior public servant whose net pay after tax is 67,000 must also contribute 25% of their salary. To me, this is fair. No one who collects less than 67000 will be affected.

Can I ask you a question, are you one of those impacted? It's easy to say something is fair until you are the one impacted. Why should it be made mandatory for people to contribute anything?

The problem with is in this country is what I call delusion and ignorance.

The way we always shiit palliative palliative is so evident that majority are ignorant of the state of Nigeria since the military era.

We are a country of 200 million producing only crude oil but everyone wants the government to feed 150 million people everyday.

Hmn

Let's do some math.

Let's use a conservative figure of #500 per day per person.

That is #75 Billion in one day.

Which is #2.25 Trillion in one month.

The people shouting palliative palliative upadan want the FG to feed us wth #2.25 Trillion every month shocked shocked

How much is our revenue?

El Rufia has come up with a good initiative.

Drop the hate for once.

I have argued here that Nigeria doesn't have the money to enforce a lock down

But if majority of "Educated Nigerians" including the civil and public servants believe the lock down is the best way to go.

Then the government must come up with the money from somewhere to support the poor people.

Every country manages their own in a unique way my dear. I just can't understand why so many of you cannot process and analyse information without supporting your argument on the basis of "look at what XYZ country is doing". Are the circumstances the same? You want to compare Nigeria to the countries that provide aid to Nigeria. Is there a basis for such comparison?? Are you telling me that you are so selfish that you can't contemplate a 25% temporary cut that will be used to feed the poor??

There are certain leaders whom a lot of Nigerians especially from the East have sworn never to see anything good in what they do.

El Rufai and Buhari are 2 of those leaders.

What El Rufai has done is what we youths have been agitating and calling for in this country.

Pay cut for the top earners in our country.

El Rufai just announced a pay cut for civil servants who earn #67,000 and more.
Which means that those earning #50,000 will not be affected.

This also means that those commissioners and house of assemble people who earn hundreds of thosands and millions will be affected too.
The Governor and his office will be affected too.

The money will be used to cater for the poor which are no less than 70 percent of Kaduna people.

Because let's embrace the reality, the Nigerian government does not have the money to feed 100 million people daily for a month, two months, 6 months and so on.

Where is the money going to come from?
Oil?

El Rufai deserves a medal for this initiative.

What El Rufai has done is a robin hood move.

Yet the children of hate have begun insulting and calling him names!!

Useless fools.
So ur definition for top earner is someone earning above 67k?
Your comment is so filled with hate, and all I see is envy for civil servants, of course u ain't one.

This is ok, for as long as the money will be put to good use...
People who spend 50% of their salary as transport may understand. As for those who think it's hash.. should remember that for the past 30 days you have not gone to work... Remember some of our friends at private sector (Companies) may not get any penny for all production is off. God bless Nigeria.

My friend, if they were surviving on 67 k, they can surely survive on 50k. and besides that, the money is going back to the poor, so these extended relations you speak of will already be catered for!

Bro elrufai is neither tribalistic nor religion bigots, I live in kaduna as well, he employed people into the civil service base on merit regardness of your religion/ethnic background, sentiments aside elrufai has the capacity to fix Nigeria, hope coming election he is giving a VP position.

$21.4m from US. -> 8,345,420,545.23 NGN (8 billion Plus)
