The governors told you that they are collecting involuntary donations from civil servants for Corona virus?

We are talking about COVID-19 here. Which governor has paid half salaries to Workers because they want money to fight corona virus
The salary would be balanced out later

That was what El-Rufia told you? From what I read, the workers who earns 67k and above will have to donate 25% of their salaries. "DONATE".

The govt is not saying they will pay d workers Half salaries and pay the balance later. They said the workers are to " DONATE" 25% of their salaries. You pay someone back for donating?

Have u not heard about governor's paying half salary in Nigeria before ?
Isn' it illogical and senseless to pay a worker half salary for the month ?
Did the worker work for half month ?
The Holy Bible says don't carry the wages of him who has worked to go to sleep because he has things to do with his wages.
How can a workers salary be cut into half after completing a full job?
It is only a Satan's incarnate that can do that.

If am right 25% of #67,000 equals 16,750.
That left with #50,250.

I just hope they utilize this money effectively.
Don't mind the barawos, the money will still be embezzled as usual.
However, charity giving should not be done in such a criminalistic way, that has to do with collecting 25 percent of one's income before it gets to them.

It has started. The civil servants will always be the first casualty in government.
What happens to those politicians and their appointees taking large chunk of the resources?

Selfish private establishment who never wanted to pay salary in the first instance will now escalate it.

How much does a Barca player earn compared to a public servant in Nigeria ?
Didn't you also hear that the other countries across the globe are paying their citizens up to 300k in naira during this lockdown.
That amount of 300k(stipends to sit at home during the lockdown) is above what a lecturer earns that is not a professor in Nigeria.

That is unconstitutional he does not have the power to do that. Buhari should not copy this formation to play federal civil servants o

Lagos State makes most of it's money from the tax people pay yet cannot give it's people financial palliative all because of corruption

You don't even understand what a public service job is. They even pay you your full salary when you go on holiday as a public servant whether it is 2 months holiday or whether it is 3 weeks holiday.
It is the right of a public servant to be paid his or her full salary for 12 MOnths in a year until he or she retires.
Maybe you need to download the public service rules in Nigeria and digest it so as not to mislead or make bias the minds of readers of this thread with unfactual and unethical comments.
Moreover, barca players can't be compared to a Nigerian civil servant.
A barca player can boast of 500 billion naira in his account. Any public servant in Nigeria that has saved up to 400k in his account then just know that he got the money from venturing into a business.
Oboy,life hard o for Nigeria.
How much do you think a lecturer who has seven or four children can save with 200k monthly.
Don't forget he would pay for his rent (buying a land and building a house in Nigeria is not a child play) it involves huge amount of money especially when you fall into the hands of a dubios engineer.
He or she would pay for his or her child's tuition fees.
He or she would pay transport fare or fuel a private car monthly.
Feeding the family for the month is also inclusive.
Giving to family relations and also giving charity to who ever he or she decides to give to for every month.
Tithing is also there.
Fuel for generator.
How much do you think they can then save per month from their income.
Then imagine deducting salary of a public servant who earns 67k or not up to 200k with a family of seven or eight to cater for ( husband and wife included)
How do you expect them to survive after such criminalistic and illegal deductions.
Suffer dey for naija o, na only God they save people for this country. Don't you know?
What of warders, and other para military personnels that are also public servants working hard and together by risking their lives to fight the pandemic in one way or the other?
Do you know how much they pay as transport fare to work?
Do you know how much they now use to buy food at work ?
This deductions by El ruffai is totally illegal and criminalistic in nature and must be corrected.
Only dictators can implement such decisions.

While it is a good move by el rufai,it should be varied for those earning below 100k.the deduction should be between 5% -10% while those earning above 100k van donate 25% and above.

According to public service rules in Nigeria, public servants are to be paid 12 months in a year until they retire from the service.
Don't forget in every 12 months some public servants have 3 months holiday some of them are entitled to a month leave.
It is stated in the public service rules that they would be paid for 12 months a year including holidays or 1 month leave.

The earlier we accept the coming reality post-pandemic the better: recession will hit most economies, firms will downsize, there will lost of jobs, government will either increase tax or cut salaries, youth unemployment will increase etc. The way out is tech skills for self employment and remote jobs(working from home). Only those who prepare ahead will be spared. Don't full yourself, join the train before it's too late.

I have argued here that Nigeria doesn't have the money to enforce a lock down

But if majority of "Educated Nigerians" including the civil and public servants believe the lock down is the best way to go.

Then the government must come up with the money from somewhere to support the poor people.

We told them Nigeria did not have the capacity to lockdown immediately we saw Wuhan late January.

If the people knew they will be bailing out the goverment as opposed to the goverment bailing out the people as happens in ALL other climes then they will have taken charge of their destiny and acted in charge against the pandemic themselves.

If a father cannot cater for his children he cannot set curfew rules, cannot decide what they study in school and cannot tell them how many pieces of meat they can take from the pit of soup they cooked.

Its just a pity that out of sentiment Nigerians have abdicated their privileges under democracy and fear those who naturally should fear them. The only reason why I take this with some levity is that I hold the civil service at all levels partly responsible for the poor state of affairs in Nigeria.
