jimazjito: The float voltage should be between 13.5-13.6v. This particular battery rests at 12.7v after full charge. Set low voltage disconnect to 12.1v. I have a unit of this brand of battery and these settings have been working well for it for almost a year now. The only thing is that the resting voltage has dropped to 12.6v maybe due to sulphation . It's a cheap brand anyway. I used it for heavy loads initially but now, It is dedicated to only light loads while my AGM handles the heavy stuffs. I suggest you don't overload it so you can use it for at least 2 years. 1 Like |

Rhyah: Good 200AH battery is not less than 100k. It is better to get new battery cos it usually comes with at least 1 year warranty for dry cell and 18 months for wet cell (Tubular) And 12V inverter cannot carry 2 batteries. You need 24v for 2 batteries. 1 Like |

Controlv: He can link the two by a changeover so he can alternately decide which one to charge but one at a time. I devised that method to charge my new 200ah and old 100ah batteries. Incidentally, looking at the manual of of any <1000v (less than) inverter, it is recommended not to use higher than 150ah battery. Will post the page later. 1 Like 1 Share |

This is for luminous inverters. And based on experience with mine, whenever I am charging my 200ah battery with generator, it will stop charging except if I switch off all appliances and leave battery only on it. But the scenario does not happen when charging the 100ah battery.

olaolu11: Your inverter/Battery has fault, you can charge 200AH with even 500VA, I used it for more than 3 years, there was no charging issue. Same manual recommend only 100-120ah It's only mean it will take longer to charge.. that's all It works like UPS na, how does load affect charging? When you have grid only Charging will be activated, and when it's fully charged it should stop 1 Like |

Dam5reey: SSorry, its when charging with generator. Not with grid. Guess maybe because the generator is low for all. But shouldn't a 2.5 carry it?

Dam5reey: Perhaps he has the same experience as a 12v BTS inverter (PSW with in-built voltage stabilizer) I retired a while ago. It has two switches (one for the inverter and the other for mains). It does simultaneous battery charging and appliance powering optimally only when the input voltage is adequately between 190v to 220v. Anything less than 190v, it prioritizes the output to powering devices. In such instance, you can then get good charging by switching off appliances plugged to the inverter. I only got adequate voltage from the backup generator and that's only if few loads are on it. Though I'm not on grid, but you can be sure of poor voltage from there. My way around it was to get a standalone 20A smart battery charger and unplugged the inverter from the mains. One of the reasons I retired it. The other reason being that it seems the idle consumption was unfavourably high, not confirmed though. 1 Like

olaolu11: As you said, when you switch off loads, it's start charging then, the generator needs to be checked, I'm not a generator person I don't have Idea about generators. Yes, Luminous. I have tried charging the 500va with a small generator of 1kVA before, the Gen always Trip off, I invest in Solar instead of buying Gen. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by olaolu11(m): 8:39am On Apr 28, 2020 |
Dam5reey: Hmnn. I bought the gen before switching to solar. I have been off grid for one year now( not by choice though). Now my house wiring. Except for all 15amps socket points that I bypassed the inverter, grid/ gen goes to inverter and from there to appliances. As expected, my inverter goes to battery. And as usual(?), my solar panels go to battery via the charge controller. So my fridge uses a 15amps socket so is not on inverter as mentioned earlier. Its supply from gen/grid is independent of inverter. Is my house wiring wrong? Could that be the culprit? The generator carries my standing, two door fridge(130watts) and freezer(140watts) easily though with slight increase in noise. I will confirm the wattage of the fridge and freezer later and revert. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by olaolu11(m): 8:44am On Apr 28, 2020 |
Dam5reey: My I pass my neighbor will not switch off but will not charge the inverter. The inverter will show charging power on but battery charging power will be off, telling me inverter receives power but is not charging battery. And that was even my now benched 100ah battery. |

spartacus11: I think for shipping, Konga is always in the range of 1k5 to 2k5 for light goods. It's only on heavy luggages like battery, panels and other heavy luggages that you get charged another 3k5 for heavy packages. |

ayo1984: For 30a I would recommend getting a cheap PWM CC. Watch this video by Will prowse. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kF_cVEYxj3E At this power level there is no advantage of MPPT over PWM, and no significant savings in wire costs. 4 Likes |
