I was talking with one salary earner , he said he wish the lockdown never ends , he was full of confident

I laughed him ,

Most of them have never run a business before.

Nigeria has no economy. It's dead long ago.

They will have sense this year. When I tell workers that they are eating free money, they think one is speaking out of envy.

if u were a staff of access bank u won't make such comment.

have u seen d pyramid of staff salaries in these banks?

payment of staff salaries n allowance is wide at d top with just few persons, while the payment of these 75% is thin at even though dey are much.

senior managers n above have official cars, subscription n even get paid for medical trips abroad while the so called cleaners n outsource staff don't have such privilege except what dey collect at d end of d month.

sacking I d 75% of outsource staff will still.notake dem make profit, check d salary of d cleaner compare it to dat of a senior manager n tell me d %age.

dey should start with d top management staff dat way I will know dey are cutting cost.

a cleaner collects 20k.per month while an SM collects a million at d end of d month now tell me who is suppose to go?

in a year d average outsource staff salary is not even up to d monthly pay of a senior manager.

sometimes some of u comment without thinking

try to have human sympathy.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work like that. Do you honestly think a Nigerian bank with all their shylock tendencies would pay you a million naira a month if they are not getting value in some way? Some of these senior managers etc. you speak of are the ones really holding the bank: the billions in deposits they bring or their skill-sets are what allow the bank to continue standing. Across board, the only set of professionals that would survive and even thrive in the coming armageddon are IT Staff - in this new world, they are the truly indispensable.

Yet, the useless bank gave a whooping 1 billion naira to a kleptomaniac government instead of its ardent customers!...

And now this dumb and heartless move!
Re: Access Bank To Cut Staff Salaries, Retrench 75% Of Workers by Dre7: 12:37pm On May 01, 2020
From a balance perspective, I believe this mass sack isn't the way out, unless of course the companies are using this incident as an opportunity to executive certain plans they had in mind, prior to this time.

My take;
Why not simply make everyone take a pay cut or no salary, but give them the job security, with the assurance that everything will become normal after this pandemic.

With this step, you have settled two things;
1. Cut off you personnel running cost, since you aren't making profit.

2. Your workers endure a few months, but with a bright hope of things returning to normal afterwards. Isn't easy but better, the thought of job hunt all over again is heart melting you know....

Sir, meeting a white lady online is by chance or luck. I can boldly say I have lots of bot h black and white Americans as friends but only few help because most of them have one challenges or the other.
DonMustafa:
It is better to cut staff salaries than to sack them. Even if the staffs will hunt for other jobs, at least something still comes in monthly to pay bills. Complete sack is terrible.

like my brother, he may decide not to go work for 2 years yet his salary will enter his account. it can only happen in Nigeria. free money is sweet. so shall we eat it for 35 years old.

You are so insensitive for saying this trash. Even if it’s an “honest private conversation”, Is it not in the bank plan to sack their staff.

Moreover, how much does the bank pay their so called “security men, tea girls, cleaners and tellers” who are the most exposed to this covid19 pandemic.

That shows that their is nothing “ACCESSible” about ACCESS BANK after all. undecided undecided angry shocked

Am closing my account with them as soon as possible. angry

This Eye service will not pay you

Uncle, 'eye service" for you or who?

Leave emotions, where in that video did it say the bank is going to "retrench 75‰ of workers"?

While making this public may not invalidate the content of the interaction, no employer of labour would be happy to have his employee bring what is supposed to be an internal communication to public light. It is the height of unprofessionalism. Staffers who are not happy with management decisions such as this should honourably resign.

I do not hold brief for Access Bank but let's call a spade a spade. The headline is misleading; 2, We are in desperate times and organizations will be faced with taking tough decisions and staying alive/afloat.

May the best win.

I'm not in support of our dilapidated tax system but I tell u, the money we generate from our natural resources can take care of our current and unforseen problems if well managed.

How much is talked about taxation in Saudi Arabia and other oil rich nations. They basically takes care of themselves with proceeds from oil not to talk of other abundant natural .

Are you sure about this? Saudi Arabia pumps five times as much crude oil as Nigeria, has only 17% of Nigeria's population, and the production cost of their oil is $3 as opposed to Nigeria's $30. The GDP per capita is also 10 times that of Nigeria.

Inspite of these significant advantages, Saudi Arabia itself has realized that it's oil dependency is not sustainable, and is moving to steer its economy away from oil into technology, biosciences and finance. They are also preparing to rely a lot more on tax revenues.

This our famed oil would not save us in the years to come when the world is already learning to cure its thirst for sweet crude, or who would have thought that oil would ever be sold at less than $0 (essentially given out for free)?

By the way, the USA also produces way more oil than Nigeria; have you ever heard them talk about ending income taxation?

The person earning 100k that loses 40% will definitely feel the impact more than those who earn much higher.
..being the highest earner...he will take the higest percent cut..the percentage cut will reduce as u go down hierarchy..

75% that's too much but this access bank matter tire me ooh that's how they would just be deducting money from my account without transaction detail nothing..... The banking sector is just a very funny sector in this hardship you still want to retrench staffs that 1 billion that was donated would have been used for staff welfare but bad management & policy won't allow them...... Na to retrench staffs & then place ad for employment with a lower pay that's what they want to do cause they know people would opt for the lower pay cause of the hardship

Please come bank with Polaris Bank we don't involve in deducting customers money illegally.

Look at what is spewing from your mouth, if your family member or friends are among the vulnerable people who are at risk of loosing their means of livelihood at this critical time, you won’t say this insensitive and uncalculated rubbish.
is terminating the employment of their contract staff who earn so little with nothing to save from from their meagre salary the only way to cut down on cost/expenses.

If they are truly sincere about staying afloat, they should sack the senior staff of the bank because sacking 75percent of contract staff will never make the book balance look good.

Better still, cut down wage across board.

Hello Bro... Good day.. Pls Intimate me the more.. The stuff/site is asking to be paid in Bitcoin with $29 for a start (minimum). Pls drop or inbox me your contact phone number... I want proper orientation!...

Those of you begging bankers money, you see it is not easy anywhere in Nigeria. That is why I recommend online dating for people who need financial assistance. White people have good hearts. They have pity. They will help you if they have. You never know until you try. If it is only $500 the person sends, this is N200,000. Imagine what N200,000 will do in your life now.

This is what I did last year December when I was broke. I got a white lady through online dating and begged her. She help me and I opened a betting shop that is feeding me up to today. If I did not do online dating in December, by this lockdown, I would being eating sand. Don't just eat all the money you get. Start something small.

For those people sending PM and asking me which dating site I used, it is Bit Mistress. See the link in the pic below

What some direct staff of the bank earn in a month can pay about 10-15 contract staff & those guys are still entitle to other allowances. Yes, the bank can actually do without the tea girls, few cleaners, securities and some tellers but how much do these set of staff even cost the bank. As far as i am concern a larger chunk of their salary expenses is on their core staff.

Very on point.

That's the problem of insecurity in Banking jobs. Expect other banks to follow suit. If u are not working up as a banker now, if you are having issues with ur boss in the bank, if I are doing shakara for ur oga or u don't want to soften up for the promiscuous bosses just start writing ur resignation letter now or face the upcoming shock. It's not funny.

God punish the MD. Why not rescind your position to save cost than taking 40% pay cut. Is that the best you could do?. Those security men and cleaners are more actively engaged than you.
