Let's face the truth, it is pointless having so many branches. Most of us have no business in banking halls anylonger. Everything can be done online.

Keeping too many branches in a digital banking age is like running a charity home and hoping to make profit.

Useless bank, after dashing FG N1Billion just for publicity purposes right? Donating N1B at the expense of that cleaner who earns 15k per month with three children that will now drop out of school? Yet, the N1B donated has gone with the winds, cannot be accounted for.

You better put on your thinking cap. Laying off staffs at the moment remains a very bad decision, wicked act, bad reputation & image for any serious, self respected & a bank claiming to worth it salt.

It doesn't end by acquiring and acqusitioning banks when you can't pay your workforce. What will now remain of Access bank after shutting down all these locations. Well, it's none of my business. Banking job has little or no job security. You start planning your exit immediately you get your appointment letter.

I wonder what will be in the minds of Access bank staff when they heard about the plan to layoff & cut pay. Those that are eventually laid off will begin to struggle to survive under a harsher regime. Those who would remain, will receive pay cut. Which ever way, Access bank staff are affected.


I won't be surprised if other banks and companies, especially private owned, if they downsize by retrenching their workers.

I hate to have these discussions because I have a large dose of human empathy...
But why would “that cleaner” have 3 school-age kids (and of course many have even more kids) on N15K per month?

The irony is that professionals who can afford it nonetheless try to keep family sizes manageable....
Frankly, kids shouldn’t just be seen as a “blessing” for parents, but parents should be able to “bless” the kids they have.
