No offence but don’t start this Canada thing here please.

We’ve already highlighted about Msc Management in U.K. (scroll up).

Sorting for job in Canada is the same as being in Nigeria and sorting for work there. Applying from the U.K. doesn’t change anything because your nationality doesn’t change & you will still need work visa to be processed for you.

Being in the U.K. will not increase your chances of getting a job in Canada than someone in Nigeria or anywhere else. Same process.

It’s a good idea but don’t rely on spending millions for Msc management because of job in Canada after. They’re millions of management graduates in Canada too

Incase, you want info about Canada, kindly visit the Canada thread cheesy.

Thank you
Nice one. You are doing a good job.
Dont mind the critics.

I totally agree with you. I was shocked for that mechanical guy to consider doing Bsc on top nursing. Go to U.K. and see same mechanical graduates packing pounds. Most of them even do PhD and become lecturers.

Nairaland guys have made it seem like once you do nursing or IT, gbam job and PR will fall on you.

They don’t know it’s easier said than done.
I get guys for UK doing nursing and they’ve all said it’s not beans. One even dropped out because he couldn’t cope. Oyibo nursing is not like Nigerian nursing where you just do anyhow and get licence.

Yes, you’ve got good chances of getting a job no doubt. But of what use is it to practice in a field that you have no joy for?

Once you remember your next shift, you go begin dey frown. You will be walking on egg shells before they say you’ve done something wrong. You have to do everything 100 accurate, no chance of “I didn’t know or I thought”.

Nursing is only if you have great passion for it. As per you’ve worked in the field and you just love the responsibilities that comes with it. My friend in Bradford got barred from practising and family of the man is trying to get him locked (although he’s been trying to resolve it). What did he do? He slept on night duty and a patient died. Oga did not hear emergency buzzer and before he realised what was happening, patient don die.
Another issue was that he gave that patient his tablet when he was eating dinner but did not check to see he took it immediately. If nah for Nigeria, he will go Scott free because we don’t take certain things serious here. Now he cannot work at all. DBS has barred on it. He cannot even come back to Nigeria because he’s currently under investigation. That’s it o, money wey he spend on top education don go. He cannot even get a proper job in any sector because he either needs police report or work reference or DBS. Life is now a rollercoaster for him

Please I’m not saying no one should do nursing, I’m only saying you should do it for the passion. People’s lives are in your hands.
you nailed it here bro! I don’t see the hype concerning the Nursing of a thing. It is not a job one can just opt in without having passion for it. I have seen so many people that have backed out from practicing nursing in Uk. You work 12hrs shifts which isn’t easy and one is not paid handsomely well. A college dropout who serves as a support worker or carer could take home the same rates paid to a band 5 nurse. I know of a support worker who is a college dropout that earns close to £27000 per annum while the minimum pay for a band 5 nurse working with NHS is £24000.
Being a Nurse you have to be accurate and be good with document keeping and making of mistakes could lead you too doom least I forget there are thousand of nurses facing court cases in Uk.

Brothers and sisters in the house. I have a small question to ask and please I need answers.

I got an admission in RGU Scotland, my tuition is around 5m, due to some issues, I only have 3m for the tuition. I was asked to pay 34% initial dep, and my fees can be paid installmentaly. Now my question is, can I work while studying and complete the remaining fees.
I appreciate your answers. Thanks

yes you can work to pay your school fees but it won’t be easy.
Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by Skymoore1004: 12:36am On May 10, 2020
Yes you can work whilst studying.
You’re allowed 20 hours a week.

Paying off tuition & still have money for expenses will be extremely tight for you.
Say you’re making £10 per hour.
That’s £200 per week & £800 per month.
National insurance will still take like £60 or so (not sure)?
Do you think it’s possible to pay tuition with this? Nah.

However you can work more than 20 hours at your own risk. It’s not recommended but desperation calls for desperate moves. If you’re after residency, then make sure you don’t breach that 20 hours. It might affect you after.

I will say having at least 80% of your tuition if possible. If you don’t have the money now, kindly defer till January or May. If you can get funding from friends & family, then that’s perfect.

Regardless of which path you take, all the best.

P:S- it’s not easy to pay tuition via work. E GO PAIN YOU EH. After hard shifts & work, you will carry a percentage of your money & pay school, damn. grin. The worst is when they keep sending you payment reminders, you will just feel harassed grin sad

Apply to Birmingham City University. Emphasize on your work experience in project management in your Personal statement that you are very much capable to study project management. Include your project management experience in your the work experience section. Your workplace should also write a strong reccomendation letter too. You will definitely get admitted if you follow this guideline.

https://www.bcu.ac.uk/courses/project-management-msc-2020-21

School fees is 12800. Because of your grade, you cant get any scholarship discount which are given to first class and 21.. So you will huzzle for the remaining 2800 pounds.

Thank you so much for your response and recommendation. Untop this school fees matter, I'm just spread thin, really. It took me more than 2 full years to save up the 10,000 pounds that I want to use and pay my school fees now (I was hoping to use it for Canada express entry, but ITA scores have shot up and I just can't wait in this country anymore). In addition to that, I'm counting on showing 2.5 million+ in my mother's account (the gratuity she just got) to serve as the living cost. Not like that is even enough, I'm still thinking of how to balance the huge deficit (especially with the current naira depreciation and all). I'm just tired. Those who are born with silver spoon do not know what they have. This life is hard when you have to struggle and suffer to get money.

justwise:

You have to make an application first, in your application attach a letter explaining your work experience relating to the course you are applying for. Work experience helps when grade did not meet the standard, give it a try as you got nothing to lose.
Thank you very much oga Justwise. I will try. If you can, I'd appreciate if you can suggest likely institutions, most especially those within my budget. God bless.

Oloshi83:
I see someone suggested Birmingham City....try Sunderland too. At least they were taking Engineering graduates from Naija with a 3rd class a few years ago. You could also apply for MSc Engineering Business Management which is basically a Management course tailored for Engineers and covers supply chain management and project management. Entry requirement is similar but, typically, only Engineers would apply to EBM so competition isn’t as stiff as PM.

Also your personal statement is key. I’m not suggesting you lie but if you can omit the ‘volunteer’ bit, it should help as you need to show that you had an acceptable level of responsibility. It would be difficult to convince anyone if you were in the role voluntarily.

No Uni would advertise accepting applicants with a 3rd class so I’d say apply to a few (with your very convincing personal statement) and hope for the best. Other Unis to try - Solent Uni, Salford, Sheffield Hallam, Cardiff Metropolitan, Bedfordshire and UWE (new course for the Uni).

This is from Salford’s website ‘Where a student has gained a recognised honours degree but does not meet the normal entry qualification requirement, they may still be considered for entry if they can demonstrate relevant work experience of a minimum two years duration post study and acceptable level of responsibility.‘

All the best!

Thank you so much for these suggestions. I've checked all of them out, and they indeed look promising. But this their fees sha. Are there no schools with under 10k pounds fees in the UK? Ah.
Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by Oloshi83: 6:11am On May 10, 2020
Unfortunately, nothing under £10k especially if you didn’t graduate with a 2.1 or higher.

Go back a page or two, someone suggested ways to ‘raise’ cash recently.

I think the University of West London offers a discount if you are accepted to be a student ambassador but remember that being in London increases your maintenance costs by about £2k. So that defeats the purpose really.

Good morning my People. I have been following since day 1 and I wanted to be certain of things before I ask. I have been admitted to study "Biomedical Science" in "Chester University" and "Sheffield Hallam University". I am really tempted to go for Chester as they also offer top up courses to enable me write IBMS and get licensed. Now my questions.

1) Is That University a good one?

2) How is Chester in terms of student Job and life generally?

3) I have been asked to make a deposit of 3kp but I intend to make 6kp out of the total 9450p, How does this move help me?

4) Do I need a car, or should I just forget about it?

5) Can I do small buying and send down to Nigeria for sale?

6) Since it's my first time traveling, will I have issues with a virgin passport?

7) How Marketable is this course in UK?.

Please I have some other questions as I intend to start paying school fees this week, but kindly put me through on this ones first. Thanks all the gurus in the house. I am expecting your responses.

Cc Justwise, etc.

If you don't have the remaining 2M that means you don't also have the maintenance money? If that is true then you will be working to pay fees, rent, bills and feeding?

You could also try Ireland. You get a two year post study work visa too and fees in some Unis are slightly cheaper. University of Limerick, for example, comes in at closer to £11k. Make the Ireland thread your friend.

I’d suggest you apply to Unis in both countries anyway as you have nothing to lose. Spend a couple of days on your personal statement and try and edit the ‘why Uni of X/X city’ section a bit for each application to make it relevant.

My sister, I understand with you but I would advise you not to give up hope. Take your time and check the different schools, call their nigeria reps office and get some more clarification. You do know that for UK, you need a minimum of 25k for international students (avg intl students rate is btw 12-15k, depending on the course..) engineering courses, like medicine and MBA are very expensive. so unless you want to change field, maybe you could find a course under 10k..but that's tutition only..maintenance is 9,200 outside london and 13k within london...so you still have a long way to go. I am not trying to be harsh or brutual here.. just stating the facts as it is.

It is well..not to derail the thread, but have you tried European countries that do not ask for tuition, only maintenance as an alternative? I believe that God will answer your heart desires, even in ways you never thought of. Fighting... smiley

I have been admitted to study "Biomedical Science" in "Chester University" and "Sheffield Hallam University". I am really tempted to go for Chester as they also offer top up courses to enable me write IBMS and get licensed. Now my questions.

1) Is That University a good one? No offence bro, but did you not check this before applying? You said you’re tempted to go for the uni, so there must be a drive behind it. Nairalanders cannot evaluate a university for you. Our papa no build school for there. We’ve said multiple times that as long as you’re not going to level one universities like Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, then it doesn’t matter. Chester and the rest are all under the same category, so it’s left for you to standout with excellent result.

2) How is Chester in terms of student Job and life generally? This is usually on the university’s website under “student life”. There’s job everywhere in the U.K., doesn’t matter the city. Easiest work to get it care assistant or support worker. You can also check quora or student rooms to get specific replies from graduates of the university. Check YouTube as well, just research. However note that one’s experience may defer from yours.

3) I have been asked to make a deposit of 3kp but I intend to make 6kp out of the total 9450p, How does this move help me? Deposit amount doesn’t matter. If you pay £6k, they will simply deduct it from the £9450. Deposit amount is just to secure your place and apply for visa, doesn’t mean you can’t pay more or in full. (All still refundable in terms of visa denial). It only helps to reduce the amount you have to show on your statement, shikena

4) Do I need a car, or should I just forget about it? You don’t need a car in the UK. This shows that you have barely made any research about the country. U.K. has one of the best transport networks in the world. If you miss train, catch bus. If you miss bus, rent bicycle (eg mobike) dey go. You can easily even walk to your destination. Having car is like luxury in the U.K. As a student, that shouldn’t be your main concern. When you get residency, you can start thinking in that direction

5) Can I do small buying and send down to Nigeria for sale? Tobexin can help you with this.

6) Since it's my first time traveling, will I have issues with a virgin passport? You’re not the first person applying for visa with a virgin passport. In terms of student visa, that doesn’t count if you meet all requirements & show that you’re a genuine student. You only worry about virgin passport if you’re going for visit visa.

7) How Marketable is this course in UK?. It’s under the medical field, you know the rest....

Please I have some other questions as I intend to start paying school fees this week, but kindly put me through on this ones first. Thanks all the gurus in the house. I am expecting your responses.

Bro I don’t think she said that in the view of withholding information. Think she’s also waiting to hear back from Chester & experienced some kind of delay from the university. The person in quote is also an applicant, so she doesn’t have any firsthand info about studying there.

Don’t take it hard

That school, I applied to that school in February they even interviewed me for my course in march they did not get back to me and their region or country manager was sending emails about how much I should pay for deposit saying congratulations. I did not even understand the email because if a school sends you an offer they state your school fees and how much you should pay for deposit maybe if there is a discount it will be stated but the emails was confusing.

The emails were coming between 10pm to 2am. I had to send the school email that I haven't heard from them about my application. After a day or two they responded that my application is with the department that I should wait.

Just last week they sent a mail that they have scrapped my course and I should pick another or deferr to next year September.

I decided to change the course so I clicked on the link that directs me to their 2020 postgraduate courses, can you believe I still saw my course on the list?

I did not complain or called their attention.I just sent them a new course but I made up my mind not have anything with them.

If an applicant can start having issues with them about courses what will their students be going through?

The region or country manager has not gotten back to me yet.

Bro I don’t think she said that in the view of withholding information. Think she’s also waiting to hear back from Chester & experienced some kind of delay from the university. The person in quote is also an applicant, so she doesn’t have any firsthand info about studying there.

Don’t take it hard [quote author=Aprokodaughter post=89383837]That University of Chester. It is well let me face my front. angry
