Oh don’t be scared. I’m living here and I’m very happy. I wouldn’t live anywhere else. I love Germany. It’s not like racism is flying in the air, waiting to eat you up. No. We’re just trying to make people aware that racism abroad in general is a real issue and it’s something to be prepared for.

Germany is no where near USA. USA is very racist and black people still live there and go there every day. I had lived in Germany for 4 years before anyone called me the N-word and that has happened twice in my 7 years of being in Germany. In some countries you hear it every day.

Germany just does not have a strong black anti-racist movement like the USA or UK. But that is changing as more Black Americans are coming in. So by all means, come to Germany if you can, enjoy it, live your life, be happy, but still be aware and know that no matter where you go, being black is an everyday job.

I’m curious to know the metrics by which you bifurcate racism in Germany vs USA both covert and overt, and how you came to the conclusion that one is greater than the other.

what is the consent sex age or what do they call it?
An age someone can be dubbed to be ripe for relationship and sex.

16 years old. The actual consent age for sex is 14 but can be risky if the 14 year old or their parent/guardian finds it uncomfortable and presses charges or it was determined that the person was taken advantage of. To be totally on the safe side, 16 years old.

That still didn’t answer my question, and the logic doesn’t really follow but never mind. It would have been better not to respond since you had no obligation to do so.

And glory to God if I face persecution for Christ. Infact, I am coming Berlin. With prayers and supplication, I will affect that city for Jesus. Hallelujah

How about you start with going to Borno? And after that you may try Saudi Arabia or Iraq? Don't you think those places need salvation too?

I love the fact that in Germany everywhere is well policed and if you think you could easily commit a crime and get away without getting caught, you might be wrong. Small crimes like scratching your neighbors car when trying to park yours without dropping your phone number or way of the affected person contacting you could get you in big trouble. Because other people are watching you without you knowing and will call the police and When you get caught you find yourself in bigger trouble.

Also German drivers are so disciplined when it comes to driving. You see them being able to park their car neatly in a very tight spot without scratching. Also hearing the horn of cars in not common in fact you can stay for months without hearing the horn of a car. A German friend once told me that anytime you hear the horn of a car you should be alert and watch out because most likely a very serious accident is about to happen.

Religiousness is nothing here. if you come with a religious mindset from Nigeria and you live here for sometime if you are not careful you will forget about God. All the places i have worked i have never seen anyone praying before a meeting or work starts. Neither have i met any young person that is religious or worships something. Or even at the motor park or in the train prayers are not said before embarking on a journey. This is because most of the things we pray for in nigeria for God to do for us the government already provides them. When traveling by bus you are almost 99% certain that you will arrive at your destination safe no matter how far the distance is. The buses are well maintained, very good tires, the drivers are well trained, the roads are very smooth with all the reauired road safety signs and you are certain the driver will not drive above the speed limit. Infact the bus moves so slow about 80km/hr and after driving for some hours the driver is required by law to stop and rest and it is a must. If he refuses to do so they will call the police and he loses his license. And the license is so expensive to get here you spend more than 1000 euros to get a drivers license which is even more expensive than the cost of getting a small car here.
If i visit naija i do not think i will be able to travel by bus again because its now so scary to me because nigeria is the exact opposite.

Absolutely right. Thank you for this. Let me also add for the car drivers, you have to change your car tyre in winter. You cannot drive with the same tyre you used in other seasons, in winter. There is tyre made for winter and you must also change it back when winter is over.

Rap is a huge thing here, Infact it is the second most popular genre after Electronic/Techno music. There are not so many English speaking rappers here and they crave for them. The few I know, they sound stupid. The Nigerian guys are good as well. I actually like them, but I don’t think they’re ALL THAT. They are doing well and have sold albums, plus, they sell out shows and perform at festivals.

If you’re a good rapper and you can rap in English, you’ll have an audience even if you’re performing on the street. The young folks like rap, even if all you’re saying is: jkedjdbksvgeojbsv

About the Arabic clans in Berlin, I've watched documentaries about them on YouTube. Here's one of the documentary but it's in German though, they are able to get away with a lot of crimes. Like in this documentary they stole up to 10 million euros while robbing a bank.

Let’s talk about mental health. Loneliness and depression is a real thing when living abroad. Nigerians back home always think “if you can survive in Nigeria, you can survive anywhere”. I’m telling you that is not always the case.

I see people say they are not bothered about racism. When you experience it, you will know how bad it is. This is not a case of Yoruba and Igbo vs Hausa. This one is a slow poison that kills you slowly until you have no strength left. You know what it feels like to know that people hate you and don’t want you around? You feel so unwanted and alone.

At least in Nigeria you can turn to family and friends. Here you are alone. Nobody to share feelings with. They make you feel like you’re nobody, no matter how hard you work. It messes up your mental health. I’ve seen a lot Nigerian students who are very depressed. Money is there, food is there, but they’re so sad.

For every stage in life, there’s a level of suffering that follows it. When you’re hungry, your problem is food. When you have food, your problem could be loneliness. And they affect you equally. You’ll realize that you’re not as strong as you thought you were. You lose self confidence. This is why it helps to be around black people who are doing well. It gives you motivation and builds you confidence.

So please, learn about racism before you come here. When you experience it, challenge them. Don’t back down. Don’t smile to make them happy. They don’t care about you. When they say “you’re not like other Africans I’ve met, you’re so nice”, it is not a compliment. That is racism. Don’t let their backhanded compliments fool you. That’s how they control you, by keeping you “nice”.

Thank you for taking your time to enlighten us Sir
May God Bless you for this.

Let’s talk about the police in Germany.

They are very active and efficient. They are educated and very disciplined. They also speak English and some speak other languages as well. They are not required by law to speak English but indirectly, they are.
That is because to be a police officer in Germany, you need a high school diploma and in high school, Germans learn English for 5 years and even write an English language exam. So apparently, police officers should speak English.

They cannot arrest someone because you said so. For example: if someone hits you and you call the police, when the police arrives, they cannot arrest the person. You’d have to go to police station to file a complaint for investigation. They can only ask for ID and take down the information regarding the case. They are only allowed to make an arrest if the attack is on-going when they arrive.

A Spanish girl was beaten by her boyfriend and she was bleeding. She called the police and when they arrived, they could not arrest the boyfriend. Not even for one night. They only took down information and told her to go to the station to make a report. In case of such violence, the doctor treating you is also legally obliged to report to the police if your injury is a result of violence. Whether you agree or not.

A black girl was harassed by her flat mate (a German guy). The guy threw all her belongings away including her international passport and her laptop. The police arrived and the guy didn’t even open the door. They left and told her to press charges. Why? They cannot search an apartment without a warrant. ONLY if you’ve been charged with a criminal offense or you harbor a criminal in your apartment.

When can they break into your apartment? When you’re in danger. Example: an old friend of mine overdosed on drugs and went mad. He destroyed everything in his house and his neighbors called the police. In that case, they broke in to be sure nobody was at risk.

Racial profiling is not really a thing in Germany. Of course it exists but it’s not common. What do I mean? Police don’t go around stopping and searching black people or asking for their passport. That is racism and it’s not allowed. They’re only permitted to ask for your ID if you’re in a criminal situation or if you’re suspected of a crime.

You’re also allowed to ask the police officer for their ID and information. If you feel you’ve been maltreated, you can file a complaint.
Insulting a police officer is not a big deal. It is treated as insulting everybody else. So you get the same punishment as you would, if you insulted your friend or your neighbor.

Let’s talk about religion in Germany.

Germans are not religious. They observe all the Christian public holidays but they don’t believe in God. Some do but majority don’t. They mainly have Catholic and Protestant churches and the churches are also tourist locations. In fact, you can rent the church for your photoshoot or to shoot a rap music video and shake ya a$$.

They also pay church tax. People in Bavaria pay 8% of their income tax and the rest of Germany pay about 9%. Foreigners also pay it too but mostly people from EU countries. As soon as they’re registered in Germany, the registration form includes their religion and they pay accordingly. Whether they believe in God or not, they must run him his money.

Religious holidays are usually days to travel or chill at home. Best if it falls on a Thursday or Friday, they just travel for the weekend. Christmas in Germany is celebrated on 24th of December. Not 25th like the rest of the world. So don’t be surprised if people wish you Merry Christmas on 24th and stay quiet on 25th.

Most restaurants are usually not open on Christmas Day 24th, they open on 25th instead. Or they close early. So if your plan is to eat out, you may want to buy ingredients and cook at home. Christmas is usually boring as Germans travel to their families and people are mostly indoors. All you can enjoy are beautiful lights and trees.
It is also a season for prostitutes to make money. Because people get bored with their families and move away to have quick sex.

If a German family is inviting you for Christmas, be ready for some weirdness. Their eating style is different. They can make bread and cake with some Glühwein (Christmas wine), cookies, and some eat chicken and all. Foreigners who spent Christmas with their German boyfriend/girlfriend’s family, complained about being hungry. Better eat at home or go with your food.

Last year, my German friend did not go to his family for Christmas because his mother refused to cook. Their parents told them not to come, they didn’t feel like hosting anybody. The parents went to the “old people’s home” to eat Christmas food instead. Yes, they’re weird like that.

How about Islam in Germany? They are lot of Turkish and Arabian migrants

The police are also supposed to protect ALL legal protests. If you and your friends decide to protest against rice and beans, as long as you have a permit to do so, the police will be there during your protest to protect you.

They cannot use their guns unless there’s imminent danger that threatens safety of life. But when they stop you, they usually have one hand on their pistol for safety reasons. They also move in groups of at least 2 people.

If you’re driving and they have a reason to stop you, they blink their car light or make a sound and you MUST stop. They can ask for your ID and search your trunk. If you’re driving recklessly, they test you for alcohol with a breathalyzer. And if you’re blasting loud music that disrupts peace, they can fine you.

You can also file a complaint online. Investigations can take time to get a response from them. Sometimes up to a year. I remember when someone scammed me on EBay and took my money. I filed a police report and they traced the person. I got a reply after 1 year. I even forgot about the money by then. Turned out the scammer was already in prison for another crime, so they closed the case.
When my friend’s house got burglarized, they took finger prints and gave him a reply after about 7 months that they caught the criminals. But they MUST investigate ALL crimes, no matter how long it takes.

In case of domestic violence between couples, the man will be ejected from the house to ensure the woman’s safety. That is not an arrest and does not require a warrant. They just ask you to leave. They can also provide shelter for the person who was abused or attacked.

They are helpful as well. Sometimes when you’re drunk and incapacitated, they can actually drive you home and make sure you’re safe. If you’re homeless, they can provide temporary shelter till the next day.

When you’re arrested, you don’t have to say anything until you get a lawyer. You can request for a lawyer or call your own lawyer. If you need a translator, they can provide one.
They don’t smile and they don’t play. They are serious about their job. Oh and they’re also good looking.

Just to add to the point I made about domestic violence, not only men are violent. Women can be violent too. So please, excuse my misuse of gender.

Anyway, when the police is called, the violent person (man or woman) will be ejected from the house. Doesn’t matter who owns or rented the house. The offender can be banned for a period of time from the house.
