Tmastermindz careswas able to capture a snake alive without hurting it. Its still small, not more than 2 weeks old from the look of things.

The specie happens to be House brown snake, they are non-venomous snakes. You can confirm... Its day 2 with it. But just wondering where I can get pink mice or anything to feed her with. She's a female. I checked for that also.

Hope its not a bad idea?

Since it's non venomous, good way to go then. But such pets doesn't fit a normal African settings. We are not used to having snakes as pet. Imagine your parents coming over to your house and seeing a snake,I could bet they will refuse to sleep over in that house,no be African parents again? grin grin grin
I remember a documentary I watched on may Geo about people killed or almost killed by their pet. There's this girl who loves snakes so much, she had many snake pets and also license to keep them. She wanted to have a Gabon viper but the authority refused. She went to buy the viper and kept it illegally. She was bitten by the same viper and died cry

Just see how happy i am wen u said she died, am happy for her

That's a healthy looking house snake. Can make a good pet but that comes with commitment i.e, space of her own, exposure to heat to regulate body temperature as they don't generate heat internally. Food, at least once every two weeks etc. Definitely not a needy pet but if you struggle with those responsibilities, please release her back into the wild.

Re: My Pet Snake by PeacenLove2: 11:37pm On May 14, 2020
Op, abeg, have some compassion and release that thing back in the wild or somewhere farther where it won't cause panic when sighted, since you know it's not venomous.

That snake has better chance at life on its own. You are cramping its style big time. undecided

Op, yes that is a non-venomous snake, you have to feed it on raw eggs now you can't get hold of rats or lizards. But I doubt if brown house snakes do eat eggs. And make it habitant more natural.

This is a good way to birth that "idea" as lockdown is being relaxed, before you go back to your usual routine and forget about it again.

How do they get rid of its waste, like clean up the cage
What waste exactly? AFAIK, theres no waste. Snake eats their meal whole, just a schedule of cleaning would be fine to dispose their excrete.

Yes, I watched it. Even with several warning, she got a Gabon Viper, a Gabon Viber She was even found dead late and left a note to the specialist hospital she should be rushed to if someone found her on time but unfortunately no one did till she was far gone and even rotting.

OP's case is different. The snake he got is NON-VENOMOUS unlike the Gabon Viper.

Yes, you bring the snake out into a temporary cage, maybe a plastic with lid or so. Just anything to hold the snake during the clean up.
