he was about to carry out a transaction with the money in your account on your behalf which required a pin sent to your phone.

he's not the person sending the pin, but CBN
, and you wouldn't give him the pin if he had told you the truth that he was about to carry out a transaction with your money, hence he pretend he was the one sending the pin, the truth is he needed the pin to complete the transaction.

if you had agreed to call him that pin, voommm! your money is gone.
the guy is working with some bad boys in the bank.

most time, they use it to buy VTU online and the sell the airtime to vtu sellers on the road and disappear into the thin air.

the day it was done to me, I rushed to UBA, I took my statement of account and rushed to MTN office and the help me to block him from share and sell, then I was able to get letter from the police and affidavit from court and the airtime was transferred to me by MTN , which I was able to sell to recovered my money

That's why I pity people who are always quick to drop their personal information on the internet.

They first start with fake giveaways to get people's account numbers. Next they lure victims with stupid games like the one I posted below. Then they use other stupid games to get your date of birth too. Mumu people will keep on dropping personal information everytime till they have every information needed to steal money from your account. Later you will say they used jazz.

The porous system of our country is helping them perpetuate their crime.
Imagine if they have succeeded in scamming you and having access to your account, nothing will happen.
In Germany, nobody thinks about scamming people through a registered bank account.

Bank should be careful of the people they employ because majority of them are fraudsters

The rule is simple.

Don't give out your ATM card details to strangers or people you don't trust, no matter what.

How difficult is that?

You people keep on making these scammers look so important.

I don't just like that.

If their hacking tools were 100% effective, they wouldn't be calling people before getting access into their account. They need the OTP from the BVN which is why they keep reaching out. Useless clowns.

Personally I believe most of your details are out in the open especially when we are apply for Jobs. We send all our personal details on our CV without bothering who is on the other end of the computer and without bothering who will read it

Scammers are now using the “Date of Birth” Lies to Scam innocent citizens.

Once they have your account number, they can proceed to hack the systems and get your BVN, and from there, they can get your name, address, date of birth, and so on.

And every information you ask of them as confirmation, they will just give it to you, so that you would think that they are genuine.

On Thursday around 4:45pm, one Adebola called me with an ordinary number instead of the usual 0700-300-0000 that Access Bank usually call people with.

He said that he is calling me from the Access Bank Headquarters. He mentioned my correct name for me, and I concurred.

He then went ahead to tell me that the date of birth on my “account” in Access Bank is different from the DOB in my BVN (But I have more than one accounts with Access Bank, so he didn't specify which account he was referring to). He then told me that he needed to know which one out of the two dates are correct so he can correct it.

I asked him to break everything down with figures. He called out my correct DOB and said that it was the DOB on my Access Bank Account. He then called the same DOB and changed the year of birth, and said that it was the DOB on my BVN.

Habbaa!!.
I asked him to explain to me how that could ever be possible. He said that maybe the person that was entering the values made the typo error while feeding my information into the system.
He then told me not to worry, that they can correct it directly from the head-office, that a code will be sent to me to confirm that I am the one, so as to give them permission to....

I cut in immediately telling him that I will go to my bank first thing on Friday morning to rectify it.
He asked me “what sir?”, and I repeated myself again.
He dropped the call immediately.

I went to my bank on Friday to rectify the said error in the DOB, but got disappointed to discover that there was no error on the DOB.
In fact, every single information on my BVN-Page was correct.

The officer that attended to me at the bank told me that I did the right thing by coming to the bank.

That's the number that called me, and that is his name on Truecaller. (In the picture attached)
But he came across to me as Adebola.
The number is registered with fake information, just for the sake of fraud.

They called someone I know today attempting to use same format.

Dats how one mumu called me by around 7am today claiming to be one Charles Eguavon with this number; 08137442959 from Access bank and gave me all d download about my name and dob. Next thing he said he wants to ask me questions pertaining to the atm card issued to be by the bank, I knew right from the start this was a scam but I decided to play along, I even recorded part of the conversation. The guy must have deduced that he'd hit d wrong fella cos he was just threatening to debit my account and I laughed cos since last June, I'd not made any deposits on that access account. I just gave d guy one bad derisive laughter laidat.

Not really, they will only be rude when they notice you already know they are scammer and you are wasting thier airtime. One don abuse me before like that, I was just following up and he he noticed I don't want to give my information and am just wasting his airtime, he became rude and hang up

once I hear u speaking about account,I just cut u off even if u call me with genuine bank number.
access bank usually calls me with offer of loan.i just tell them immediately am not interested

I was called yesterday too with format of wrong dob. I use access bank but the person told me he's a first bank cc rep. I know I have a first bank account but it's dormant. I just told the guy that corona virus will kill him.

I Hope The Bank Will Report Such To The Appropriate Security Personnels To Take The Necessary Actions

The bank won't do any damm thing
They won't even take any action.
Even if you report directly to them, they will tell you to report to the police first and get a police report before they can do anything.

They can't scam with only BVN and account number, they need your ATM to execute the transaction...they are bunch of foooolss

most nigeria orginasation joke with its costumer private data and that is so sad. how the hell will a whole bank database be vulnerable.

3 reasons why bank database are always leaked.
1. most bank are still operating on windows f**king 7 at this time and age ..... that is one of the must easy windows operating system to be breached.
2. social engineering: let me be honest with you, hacking isn't possible without an insider. most of these bank staffs sell details of people out.
3. weak firewall setting and ineffective antivirus software: most of this bank (except the headquaters ) make use of the free version of of antivirus which is very risky.

To avoid many issues, be wise, have many bank accounts, in the following order.
1. Account 1: Mega money, no ATM, only receiving.
2. Account 2: Big money, have ATM( in case your bank already charged you). But never use it
3. Account 3: Medium money, collect ATM
4. Account 4. Small money, collect ATM

Hence, those are the two ATM you use, two in case one bank has no network.
As per PIN, he go pain them tire. Even if you give Account 4 mistakenly it is either always RED or few thousands.
