Do i need to put money in block account when coming for PhD, even if on scholarship?

How much should be in the account

I guess the scholarship should already cover that. You can send a mail to verify.

O tojo meta.

Chey, it's been too long. To this day I still receive PMs from people reading this thread hehe. I will repeat what I said previously: feel free to ask questions by tagging me on NL. I no longer respond to PMs because it takes up too much time.

Greetings.

The issue now is due to the virus situation, unemployment has increased drastically nation-wide. I can't say for sure what effect this will have on odd and basic jobs, but I can't imagine it being favorable anywhere in the country. I wouldn't go to Norway with the expectation of landing such a job right now. It's definitely possible though (depending on your skillsets and experience), just don't count on it.

All the best!

If you want to apply, then you should start very early. Deadline is December for the fall semester (starting august). You should start already now and get all the papers sorted for when the application portal opens. It's much easier this way and less stressful for you.

Norway is one of the safest places to be right now.

Norway currently, is the best country in the world according to human development index (HDI) and this HDI indicator is based on Life expectancy, Per capita income and education http://worldpopulationreview.com/countries/hdi-by-country/ after Norway, Switzerland is next then Australia. then In terms of world happiness report, Norway is the 3rd happiest Nation in the world after Finland and Denmark https://www.departures.com/travel/worlds-happiest-countries-2019 in fact the Scandinavia is the best in the world very peaceful with the lowest crime rate in the world. their healthcare system is superb if not the best in the world, then it should be the second best country in the world in terms of good and quality healthcare system. the only thing there is that the country is very very expensive and their tax rate is very high. You pay 30-35% tax and the higher the salary, the more tax you pay this is according to my brother that's based there. the high tax rate does not bother the workers because they pay for what makes life beautiful. education is free, quality healthcare, clean environment and a well defined transport system both air and land. accommodation is also very expensive but if you've a job at hand, you won't feel it because pay there is very very very high and the country is very very very cold especially during winter period. the weather is cold now because they're in winter. so make sure you have a job there first before you go there. Norway believes in Egalitarianism I.e equality of both men and women and there is no salary disparity between men and women. it's a peaceful and wealthy nation. My best countries in the world 1 Norway 2 Australia 3 Canada 4 Switzerland 5 Netherlands, Denmark and sweden . Did you see UK or the USA there? No.. the 2 countries are living in old glory. if you want a very very high pay, then go off to the countries I listed above. the best way to go there is via education. simple!...list of high paying careers in the aforementioned countries are; nursing, medicine, Engineering (petroleum, chemical, Geoscience, computer for Norway) data science, information technology, Health Safety and Environment, Economics and finance, project management e.t.c . use this website for Norwegian visa information https://www.udi.no/en/word-definitions/fees/#link-3596 just do your best and commit the rest to God Shalom!.. if you find anything difficult add me on Facebook Prince Chidinma Victor and I will put you through..Just try Nigeria is a joke and victory belongs to God!

I WOULD add Germany to the list

My University(USN) and my Department(Process Tech) has decided that the fall semester will be online but still encourages international students to apply for their study permit quickly, I want to know if this will affect our chances of getting the permit. My reasons for asking is that they have sent us letters we should attach while applying for the permit, stating that the classes for fall will be done online but that students are expected to report to campus before January 15th or lose their admission offer completely. I just want to know the effect this will have on our applications for the study permit. Just your humble opinion. Thanks. And it's been quite a long time. Great having you back online.

Good afternoon house. Am excited to be here..

I have a question, has any one here been(before now or presently) able to get a scholarship to foot his/her bills of study in Norway.

Also, Norwegian university of life sciences. Is it a nice school. I intend to apply to the school. ??

I know Universities in Norway mostly Offer Free tuition Programs for International Students so I don't think the scholarship stuff is applicable for study here. Living Expenses though are catered for by the student through a blocked acct system. Check well online and you will get answers to the second question you asked.

Honestly, I can't imagine this having any effect at all on the study permit. You have nothing to worry about from my understanding of the situation.

Don’t go to tromso. Aim for better schools like NTNU, UIS or Oslo. Tromso is dead and no work.
