Ure staying outside the state to ask people to commend the governor. Ask us who live in the state let's paint the true situation for u.
That's how he decieved y'all that he was enforcing complete shutdown of borders by going to sit at the head bridge for an hour n snap pictures.
Immediately he left that night the bridge was opened by his officials after payment of 1.5k per checkpoint.
That's how my cousin came into town
so will u Blame the governor on that...I bet u will also blame him for the number of youths taking cultism as there full time job...

Though he has his short coming.....but the tax stuff he's doing is prity commendable...

Then you stand a chance to be blessed another day
be thankful for what? That a governor pretends before the cameras and does something else when the cameras are turned off. Is he still in his first term? How long has he been governor? Is he just realising this?

You see those 2 people, I wonder who they would have been if they weren't educated cos as educated as they are, they are not providing sensible leadership.
Thank you

that's a beautiful Melody coming from a nigerian governor, but well-done is far better than well -said. it's good to know that he has such beautiful Melody coming out of his mouth, because out of abudance of the heart, the mouth speaks to the hearing, so let's dance to the melody, until we start seeing something to the contrary.
God bless gov ayade.
God bless cross river state.
God bless Nigerians.

Shut up and be grateful for the one he has done.

If those allowances are stopped you'll still look for another fault.

Fault-finders. Hard to be pleased.

" I'm Ready To Be Poor For Cross Riverians To Be Rich" Gov. Ayade Cries, Abolishes Tax

In a bid to reposition the economy of Cross River State following the dreaded Coronavirus pandemic, the state governor, Prof. Ben Ayade has announced tax exemption for low income owners including okada and taxi riders, food vendors popularly known as mama put, small barbing shop owners, farmers, hotels with less than 50 rooms and others, Igbere TV reports.

The governor who struggled to hold his emotion said if God should take all he has to make the people of the State rich, he and his family can sacrifice it all.

In a video obtained by Igbere TV, the governor expressed dissatisfaction that despite instructions from his office that tax officials should not collect tax from petty traders, it is observed in the breach.

He said his dream for the state when he took over as governor has not been fully actualised, maintaining that it has not met his expectation.

He wondered why people who are struggling to make living for themselves without government's assistance should be asked to pay tax even with the growing economic downturn, calling on the people to report harassment from tax authorities to the newly inaugurated Anti Tax Agency in the state.

This is wonderful to find a politician who cares about his people.
Ayade has shown that as a leader you must care and love the poor among your people unlike his neighbouring state governor who talks more and does less.
Ayade God bless.Udom please learn from him because you seem to be a child in this business.

So, the State is Ben Ayade and Ben Ayade is the State? Personalizing everything, including making tax laws?

Somebody please tell our Governor that, first, all the people he’s talking about WERE NEVER within the State statutory tax net in any event. Second, even if they were, it is clear that they mostly, of not all, also fall BELOW the tax threshold and so, under existing law, already enjoy tax-exempt status. So, why “exempt” them from something they are not part of anyway?

Now, if the real problem is that his own appointees are abusing their offices and preying on citizens of the State, how does an anti-tax Agency, instead of firmly disciplining those abusive political appointees, solve the problem? Why not generate the political will and moral authority and use our existing laws to deal firmly and squarely with the “revenue point” and “market levy” mentality that has taken over the brains of too many political appointees?

Third, presumably, it is now within the ambit of the anti-tax agency to issue tax exempt affirmation. Isn’t this the power of the BIR under State law? Why create an agency that mirrors half of the responsibility of BIR but does not have the requisite specialist training and experience of a tax agency?

Finally, I wonder how the Governor’s tears square up with the 5 years of pursuing grandiose projects that he KNOWS would never be financed but he still went ahead to award consulting contracts, land clearing contracts that deprived the same people for whom he’s shedding hot tears and rather than care for them spend money that should have gone into valuable sectors like health (which we now desperately miss) and education and simply keeping the State safer. What exactly is our Governor really crying for? Are those tears for real? Exempting a category that is already exempt?

We’ve seen this film show before. 5 years down the road I am no longer impressed.

Oga, I can believe you if and only if you back your words with action. Tax reduction or zero tax encourages business growth and employment.
However, while Ayade is doing something great, Ebonyi governor is building infrastructure and killing businesses and employment by his wicked over taxation and the use of thugs to harass and intimidate small and medium businesses.

It's actually meaningless to exempt some people from paying tax. The best way to generate money & save cost of governance is by reducing allowances & salary of political office holders. Since the task they do can't justify their earning.

Appreciate that little sacrifice he made, am telling you this is the first of his kind, the extortion of the masses is to the death, this kind of gesture is rare in Nigeria and should be applauded.

Seems Nigerians no like sincerity, at least the man regrets his actions and is trying to make amends.

Methinks other governors should emulate him including the man in aso rock, cause these are hard times any effort to alleviate suffering is welcomed.
The man is towing the wrong part and it will end in tears, nigerians don't like compassionate leaders, they love iron fisted leaders, they enjoy it when you make it rough with them ,they will be the one rationalizing and defending your inhuman and incompetent behaviour, while they attack, devour and deride some one with their interest at heart

While Lagos Ministry of Transport unleashed their Task Force Agberos to be chasing and seizing delivery bikes of small scale delivery business owners, asking them to pay NGN1,000,000 registration fee to obtain a useless license!

Osinbajo that always claim he is working to make doing business in Nigeria easy for Nigerians should call Governor Sanwo-Olu and his Commissioner to order asap to avoid throwing these small delivery companies out of business!

You should go and visit, speak with the people there. Ask them how things were 6 years ago as opposed to now.

He's the type of governor that the rest of Nigeria is accustomed to but in Cross River he's an anomaly.
