I am now significantly calmer due to the determination to make my marriage better and as per ''abroad levels''. My wife on the other hand is fully taking advantage of me and the environment we find ourselves in. First thing she did on getting here was to cut of my entire family. She said she doesn't want to have anything to do with any of them anymore. She has also not been too keen to kickstart her career, as all she does is endless picture taking and editing for social media hyping. I know this might be due to the initial ''euphoria'' phase cos she is coming abroad to a big house, big car and having no limits on most things we used to manage back in Nigeria, and she thinks things are bread and butter. You would never think for a second that she is a married woman if you check her profiles on social media!

She has become even more toxic person than she ever was in Naija. Now very bossy, never backs down, always the attacker, ever ready for a fight, lazier, always on social media, communicates with me as little as possible, embarrasses me in the neighbourhood with the constant noises from our house, and finally her threats have now tripled! Madam is now so fierce that I have become the house chicken. Just within a few months of being here o! She tells me that she will show me for all the ''gra gra'' I used to do back in Nigeria. Friends advised me against bringing this woman here but I no wan hear word as per responsible family man wey I dey claim to be.

The popular threat is usually ''I will end your career''. I wasn't taking this too seriously initially, but she then started following through with the threats by constant calls to the police and other services, making spooky and baseless career ending accusations and allegations against me.

I have never been the one to first lay my hands on her, but I have spilled drinks on her before when she attacked me. My wife now gets very physical without having any element of self control, fear or restraint after the simplest argument and sometimes, she damages things out of anger. She does this so often and never hesitates to dare me to do my worst.

I discovered that she has signed up on dating sites and when I even caught her chatting about sex to a particular guy in our area, she said that it was all my fault. She did not apologise for this. She even referred to it one time after an argument that if I am convulsing like this over just a sex chat, she's waiting to see what I'd do when I see a man on top of her.

My productivity at work has declined significantly and I am now on the verge of depression. Neighbours called the police on us one time after a lot of noise from out house. She accused me of domestic violence. The police had to separate us and I was stuck at home for an extended period and could not go to work due to this. I am now being investigated for domestic violence, which is a serious crime as madam wants it and I have had to report the situation to my company! The whole thing is so messy that I am scared that I have not seen the worst yet.

I am so afraid of losing it all and returning to Nigeria broke cos I spent my last card and even racked credit card debt to bring them here hoping to pay off gradually. I still have a few years to get my citizenship and if I lose my job now, that is the end for all of us!

For now, I don't know what is going to happen to us, as this woman is so determined to cause great and irreparable damage that could ruin our lives, just to get back at me and she is being cheered on by her family and friends.

Divorce has now been filed. I also recently got lucky as I was able to secure a restraining order when she messed up again and hit me daring me to do my worst. I called the police and made a proper case and she was arrested. She has been banned from the house for a month. The police advised me to talk to my lawyer and extend indefinitely if I want to. I hope to get this done ASAP. The law here does not only protect women but also protects innocent men. All you need is patience and wisdom. Thank you all for your ideas. Still several hurdles to cross but I am on the winning side for now.

Thank God you ended by saying you've filed for divorce. No too much story now! After the divorce, we go know who be Oga between the two of you or na you dey lie here. Just be patient to follow through with the divorce process. At the same time watch your back very well or you may not be alive to see the end of the divorce process.

I know some men who left their family here in Nigeria and traveled they only visit once in two years, they take their children over there once they complete secondary school. The worst mistake a man will make is coming back to marry here and take her abroad when there are women over there to marry, especially those in America marrying nurses from Nigeria. When you take them over and they get a job they forget you and face their family.if you are unlucky to lose your job your name changes to Mr Wood and she will poison the children's mind and they will abandon you. OP, the best u can do right now is to get yourself concrete evidence of her misdeeds, get an audio enabled hidden camera and install in your house, door step/. with visual image of her acts, there is no court or law suit that can rule against you.
mind you, Women tend to lie and frame people up just to protect their interest, without concrete evidence tables can turn, all she need to do is cook up a story and have one or two people testify against you and everything will turn around against you.

You have done well by seeking for divorce,you are a very brave man.
But before the one month restraining order lapses,make sure you install couple of cameras within your home,so you will have more than enough evidence to end it and live your life in peace.

I don't know which country this is but let's assume it is US, possibility of getting your citizenship is slim due to domestic violence if you stay in this marriage. Domestic violence issues have huge consequences on your status. You have the chance to quit now and find a way to take care of your kids. If she files for child support you must comply. If not, all these things will come up when you file for citizenship and you lose.

If however you continue to stay in the marriage under the same roof, and she doesn't change and she will not change, then forget about filing for citizenship because everytime police get involved in domestic issues like this it will hunt your immigration status at filling. Had it been you were citizen before you brought her it is another level entirely.

My distant uncle is embroiled in a legal battle with his French wife in Bordeaux. They were living happily in China according to the story he fed my Dad until she was pregnant with their second child and convinced the spouse to allow them relocate to France because Chinese government are Communists where people's rights can be taken with or without their consent and other bothering issues like not being able to practice choice religion.
She promised to care for their accommodation, job hunt and settling in France, which she did.
But that relocation was the genesis of their marital woes. Immediately she gave birth, life became unbearable for 'uncle', who was a party animal, living with reckless abandon (his Facebook & Instagram pages gave me that impression). Now, he has been summoned to court and he's been seeking for spiritual intervention from his folks back home .
I told my Dad , this fella must have done something grievous for that woman to seek injunction. He said no , Femi is not like that as if he lives in France with them.
So it's not only Nigerian women perpetuating that act.

Like I said I was not a perfect husband back in Africa like most people, but I was not a beast either. We were both busy professionals who needed more work on our marriage, period! Since all these troubles started, I have had multiple failed attempts to talk to my wife, I even prostrated to her a few times begging for peace, asking her to just state whatever she wants for us to live in harmony and raise our kids in a healthy environment in order not to jeopardise their future, she was just laughing at me instead and trying to record me on camera to send to her advisors and people back in Nigeria so they could mock me. She called someone on one occasion while I was down on the floor begging her, she said ''Come see this mumu guy, so he can actually prostrate for a woman, he hasn't seen anything yet. Abroad has made the idiot humble, bla bla bla''.

This woman acts like she is now in control of the whole world and has exclusive access to the launch codes of some nuclear weapons. She is so power drunk, she acts like she is under some kinda spell. Like someone who is high or just on a self-destructive path. Multiple begging, trying to make her understand that all these recklessness would affect everyone, especially our children. I have cajoled her, persuaded her to let us all live in peace. I have involved counsellors and even the pastor a few times when nothing seemed to have worked. The pastors have spoken to the both of us a few times, prayed, counselled us etc. The pastor's wife even took it upon herself to mentor her and coach her one on one. They warned her never to call the police for any reason again unless someone's life was in danger, but to put a call to them instead. After about three further police calls happened, the pastor and his wife felt so disrespected and thought they were just wasting their time on us, they stylishly pulled out from interfering in our issues.

I once ended up in the hospital because I suddenly burst into tears at work one day and they had to refer me to the mental health team because they thought I was depressed, which no doubt I am. We are here at this difficult point because nothing has worked so far. I just cannot understand how someone could be as reckless as this, working so hard at destroying something that could be nurtured into something beautiful. I was not a wife beater even back in Nigeria where some people get away with it, never stole her money, I did not kill her family, impregnate another woman, so I don't really know what this ''revenge'' is all about.

Since all these troubles started, I have had multiple failed attempts to talk to my wife, I even prostrated to her a few times begging for peace, asking her to just state whatever she wants for us to live in harmony and raise our kids in a healthy environment in order not to jeopardise their future, she was just laughing at me instead and trying to record me on camera to send to her advisors and people back in Nigeria so they could mock me. She called someone on one occasion while I was down on the floor begging her, she said ''Come see this mumu guy, so he can actually prostrate for a woman, he hasn't seen anything yet. Abroad has made the idiot humble, bla bla bla''.

This woman acts like she is now in control of the whole world and has exclusive access to the launch codes of some nuclear weapons. She is so power drunk, she acts like she is under some kinda spell. Like someone who is high or just on a self-destructive path. Multiple begging, trying to make her understand that all these recklessness would affect everyone, especially our children. I have cajoled her, persuaded her to let us all live in peace. I have involved counsellors and even the pastor a few times when nothing seemed to have worked. The pastors have spoken to the both of us a few times, prayed, counselled us etc. The pastor's wife even took it upon herself to mentor her and coach her one on one. They warned her never to call the police for any reason again unless someone's life was in danger, but to put a call to them instead. After about three further police calls happened, the pastor and his wife felt so disrespected and thought they were just wasting their time on us, they stylishly pulled out from interfering in our issues.

I once ended up in the hospital because I suddenly burst into tears at work one day and they had to refer me to the mental health team because they thought I was depressed, which no doubt I am. We are here at this difficult point because nothing has worked so far. I just cannot understand how someone could be as reckless as this, working so hard at destroying something that could be nurtured into something beautiful. I was not a wife beater even back in Nigeria where some people get away with it, never stole her money, I did not kill her family, impregnate another woman, so I don't really know what this ''revenge'' is all about.

this is a spiritual issue my brother. you are paying karmic debt and the woman you married is the one the gods have put in your life to collect.

Anyways you need to be well organized and appear as broke as possible. Otherwise, your money will be divided between the lawyers and your wife. You will be left with nothing as the law courts are there to enrich the lawyers first and then the rest will be given to your wife. especially if she is a housewife and wins custody of the kids.

FYI for the bolded, the law as is doesn’t care about gender. You do the crime, you do the time. You can’t just lie to the police and the justice system that you were abused and because you’re a woman your alleged abuser will be prosecuted and sent to prison without evidence.
