If you finished with a 2.2, a post graduate diploma program should be your best bet. On the contrary, if you graduated with a 2.1, you should be applying for a direct masters program which shows an academic progression. Fanshawe and Langara college are good schools, your visa chances are great with these schools only when your intention is driven by a lawful purpose which is strictly to study and depart from Canada after studies.

@Frankrobbn1, this is so true. You really have the knowledge of the course and school as a whole. I would have asked her to do as advised by you but one of the requirements for seat reservation is a letter of registration of the online course after paying the 200k+. After the payment of 5,000CAD, she will be issued a letter which she will use to apply for visa.
With Royal Roads University, does she stand a good chance of getting her visa?

What is likely to happen if she does not meet up with the grade stated (70%)?

Hope to read from you.

These courses are not difficult as you think. It's a prerequisite online course that can be completed within a month after proper training and preparations on ground. I believe she will be able to meet up with the grade stated (70%). On another note, if she doesn't meet up with the minimum requirement from the school she might not have a seat reserved for her in the accepted term and the 200k+ which she must have spent for the online courses will be forfeited.

There are good chances of securing a VISA with Royal Roads University BC, Canada. Although only a few number of applicants got their visa with this school, while others are still struggling after couple of refusals. Meanwhile, this is not to discourage you in any way but that's my honest observations about the school.

In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns as regards this matter, don't hesitate to seek for counsel.

It will end in praise.

Good day house, well done to all the selfless individuals providing answers.

Please Advice.

6. That I have 2kids (4 and 2)

Now, I am still learning about this process and combing through the universities' websites and nairaland trends, which has been a great deal of help. With this, I found comfort in applying to University of Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

However, I still need guidance.
1. Are study permits granted to persons with kids, without the spouse?

2. Lawyers in the house, is an LLM worth it or should I apply for other law related courses?

3. Are there other things that are not within my contemplation, especially with regards to kids?

4. Are there scholarship opportunities available, to supplement the fees.

5. The whole process appears a bit complex, do you advise I do it myself or use an agent (how much will this cost on a average)

Thank you.

Thanks for the information Boss.

Frankrobbn1:

Its not possible to receive medicals when you've not completed your biometrics enrollment. As I said before, only the R10 check will be carried out by the Immigration Case Analyst at the High of Commission of Canada while the main immigration officer waits for your biometrics details prior to processing files. Biometrics is very important in the Canadian immigration policy.

My wife got admission for a Masters in Conflict Studies at Saint Paul University Ottawa. My sister and her husband in Nigeria are the main sponsor. I do not have enough money in my account to sponsor her but I do have some landed properties in Nigeria.

It's more credible and compelling if you're the main sponsor to her visa application. This will demonstrate how established you're in your home country and also substantiate your wife's bonafide intention of studying in Canada.

Given that the principal applicant (wife) is being sponsored by a third party, the visa officer will have considerable concerns about the applicant's home ties and for this reason might weaken her application. There are several questions that accompanies third party sponsorship such as; Funds accessibility by the applicant during her stay in Canada, the reasons why they are spending so much on her for a degree that is not so lucrative (masters in Conflict studies) and can possibly be attained here in Nigeria, without having to incur such huge cost to study the program in Canada, as well as what the sponsors stands to gain as a result of this sponsorship etc....

Your landed property is not a liquid asset and can't be used in lieu of proof of fund for her application. As stated by IRCC; POF must fall into the following categories:
1. Cash (bank statements)
2. Documents that show property or capital payable to you (such as stocks, bonds, debentures, treasury bills, etc.)
3. Documents that guarantee payment of a set amount of money, which are payable to you (such as bankers’ drafts, cheques, travellers’ cheques or money orders)

With respect to the above explanations and advices given by me, I would strongly advise that you should include your bank statement if this would warrant you meeting close friends and relatives to fund your account before your wife can file for her application.

Tuition for the 1 year is = CAD 4,900 x3 (almost CAD15,000) for a year (after the scholarship) she was giving a scholarship.
Living expense 1yr: CAD10000
Misc: CAD $5000
Total money for a year: CAD 30,000

Thanks again for the advice

Air bnb packages are really ok, in fact the longer days you book you get at discounted prices....you can de Airbnb of 400 cad for a month...very close to your school...
Strong ties in your country means something that can make you come back to your country after studies like maybe your kids if you have, high rate of job opportunity in your area of study in your home country, landed properties etc
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Cflow10: 9:42pm On May 25, 2020
Frankrobbn1:

From the applicant's illustrations - He has been guaranteed a scholarship of 9500CAD in a University in Canada. The total fee is 27,000CAD, leaving him with a net payment of 17,500 CAD. The stated that the school allows payment per term over the 3 terms. That he intends to pay per term, and have paid the first term fee of 5,800 CAD.

Now, the Net Payment of 17,500 - 5,800 = 11,700CAD

*Applicant's first year living expenses as advised by IRCC = 10,000CAD

*Miscellaneous Expenses = 3,000CAD

Total Net payment + Annual Living Expenses + Miscellaneous Expenses (11,700+10,000+3,000)= $24,700CAD.

24,700CAD X 286 (current conversion rate CAD to N) = N7,064,200.

Given the above calculations, applicant's sponsor is expected to have 9.5M and above i.e if the sponsor doesn't have much dependants.

I hope you understand my calculations.

It will end in praise
God bless you once again.

Immediately I saw this, It just clicked in my head that i didnt do this. I used my first name and last name. I cant remember typing in my middle name.

So I have gone ahead to withdraw my application by filling a webform as I also read on ircc page of the utmost importance of this.

My question now is should I go ahead and submit another application or I must wait for confirmation that the initial application has been withdrawn?

I got a letter of English language proficiency from my uni which I used in gaining admission for mba.

Also I couldn't meet up with the deadline in sending my gmat scores so I wrote them to defer my application from Sept 2019 fall to Sept 2020 fall.

So after sending my gmat score I got admission letter in November 2019 against September 2020 fall.

Hope this is helpful

Good morning y'all..

A quick one,

Can someone apply for a study permit even after paying 97% of his/her tuition fee..?
(Though I know its not compulsory to pay Tuition fee bfor apply for a Study Permit)

What warranted this question is that, Paying tuition fee in CANADIAN dollars from Nigeria didn't fall through, so we asked the skool, Can we pay in USD $, and they said YES...

So after doing the conversion of Tuition fee in USD dollars to Canadian dollar , it seemed sufficient enuf... But when the school sent the Payment receipt, there was a remaining balance of $344 CAD left.... I.e Tuition fee - $18,121CAD, got a receipt of $17,777 CAD..

I concluded probably it's the Charges here in Nigeria ( Form A), Senders charges & Charges of the Financial institution in Canada that affected that 18K CAD and ended with 17K CAD payment..

So is it safe to say ONE HAS PAID HIS/HER FULL TUITION FEE ,

Note:I Paid the Tuition fee with a DORM ACCOUNT

Thanks

Hello Gugu40,

This is my logical suggestion and I WOULD TRY to leave it pithy. Clearly, it will help her application more if you are part of the sponsorship intent burdening more of the financial commitment or responsibility. However, if the case doesn't go this way, no worries! Your sister and act as a stand-alone co-sponsor and you as the sponsor or vice-versa. Since she operates a joint account and also a signatory to the account, her spouse can issue a letter of consent/approval/permission to support her sponsorship claim. Meaning that your sister has to also include a separate letter of sponsorship.

Now, this is my suggestion of what I will do:

1. You will act as the main sponsor and your sister can be the co. Argue that she played a sponsorship and support role in your family relocation outside your home country to achieve an utmost purpose i.e. study, business etc. Further deliberate more on her assistance hitherto to the present sponsorship intent. If possible, list and date her financial obligations.

2. Get your sister to use some millions of 7-8 in opening a FD or Treasury Bill in your name and then wait a short while before liquidation. The liquidated funds will then be transferred into your personal account, using the FD or TB as justifiable proof to tackle lump sum deposit. Both letters of sponsorship should coherently address the origin and source of funds. The letter(s) should contain therein that your sister is the custodian of your movable properties and sole representative in your home country. Thus, you've been saving through her or has been engaged in a financial investment with her for a period of time and then show proof.

3. Now with your BS abroad and home coupled with your spouse's BS, sister's BS and part tuition fees receipt/scholarship; you would be able to strengthen not only the financial aspect but also the sponsorship intent.

4. Endeavour to show home ties to your home country rather than your country of residence, as I want to believe that you've stronger home ties to home country than your CoR given your profile analysis.

All the best

Hello HeyHey,

There are numerous programs related to Law offered either as core or elective programs in LLM or Masters. You have to identify which of the aspect you intend to Major. You can use Google to broaden your school and program choice either by provinces or randomly. Some cheap provinces are Manitoba, Saskatoon, Alberta, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and other Atlantic part of Canada.

International student whose official language or previous studies was conducted in English are always exempted for giving language proficiency testing except otherwise. See the highlighted sentence to know more about life in canada. Based on online statistics, Nigeria currently have between 81%-83% possibility of refusal but we are not here to check on that.

To your questions:

1. Yes

2. Assess your situation and have an aim. In spite having health and science related field been prioritized, Law also has its unique and special aspect in terms of future paths in Canada.

3. Your personal situation or circumstances could determine how to shape your contemplation based on the kids.

4. Their are numerous form of funding and scholarship but more popular and flexible for students in science fields. The scrabbles are for Arts. grin

However, when sourcing for funding and scholarship, be guided not to source from a government financial support program. This may make a students ineligible for PGWP. There are several other funding bodies that have a sustainable end operated through the various academic institutions.

5. If you are keen to research enough, its a straightforward process and can be done alone. However, in spite of open information and internet sources, if you still feel the need to use a representative, walk through the process together so you know how to build your confidence and direct your faith.

All the best
