If you can kill the GMAT, then you can get full funding to some top 50 programs. That's how I got full scholarship to four top 50 business schools. So there you have it. Nothing goes for nothing and you have to be willing to pay the price.

Bro, is GRE accepted in business schools?
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by Sharonte: 5:09am On May 28, 2020
Good evening guys please I need an advise.
Got a 3k international commitment scholarship and 4k housing scholarship out of 23k, with possible offer of GA and tuition waiver in the later at WIU.

Also got i20 and admission letter, I have seen people pay for embassy interview despite the closure of the embassy. Is it advisable to go ahead with my interview with this offer or defer? secondly, for those who paid, were dates given and what dates were available.

Thanks gurus for your candid advice.

For an MBA, it's best to have significant work experience. The average years of work experience for most top business schools is 5-6 years. And believe me you don't want to get into a business school without experence when everyone has real experience cos you won't be able to contribute anything meaningful in class and your classmates won't respect you as they may see you as dead weight. Don't underestimate the impact that having significant work experience can have on you. Morevover, no real employer would want to even consider hiring you after your MBA without any real experience. That's why most top MBA admissions officers won't take you seriously without at least 4 or 5 years, and this 4 or 5 years is for those in developed economies. For those in frontier or developing economies, minimum 6 or 7years may be even advisable. You want to come into an MBA having a good idea of who you are or what you want rather than being lost. To your other question, I was a STEM major.

Hi there, I don't mean to pry but in your application or SOP did you outline your duration of experience in your field of business, and what are the chances of getting am admit with a full ride schlorship in a top business school in the US with little or no experience in the world of business as a fresh out graduate, because what i gathered from the internet b-schools rarely give admission to persons without business experience . And finally if you dont mind may i know your course of study as an undergraduate. Thank you.

@Kastgeraldino thanks for your reply sir. So in otherwords it would be foolhardy for a fresh graduate with no work/business experience to seek admission in a top b-school in the usa. If the above statement is true then going by my calculation most in-takes in b-schools would be above 30 years.

Hey guys, while I was unable to write the GRE due to Covid, I got an admission letter to PVAMU. But here's the thing. I was was on the Verge of writing the GRE booked the date and all with the hope of uploading my scores and getting some percentage tuition reduction or assistantship.
But I got just the admission, no reduction, scholarship or assistantship.
Guys, please Is it advisable to write the school requesting for either or some of these. Please not I'm yet to write GRE.
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 15 by kastgeraldino: 3:37pm On May 28, 2020
Average age for most Business schools is circa 28 give or take some years. It's mostly internationals and military veterans that are over 30. Rather than focus on the age, focus on the experience you have.

pvamu don’t use gre, a friend of mine graduated there, it took him 8 months in the USA before getting a GA plus tuition waiver.

Yes. I would advise those having issues with GMAT to take GRE. I've taken both, and it took me not that much effort to ace GRE with 99%ile on both quant and verbal. But GMAT is a real beast both the quant and verbal. Just that I loved the intellectual challenge of GMAT even though it was a real battle. I know some Africans who got full funding into top 50 MBA programs but they did well on GRE.

Please, under normal circumstances (pre-covid19) could one book a visa appointment before submitting the ds160 form? What should the order be? What's the order now during covid19?

Yeah, having a work experience can be an advantage, but that doesn't mean people without work experience won't do well or contribute well in business school as you claimed.

The best 5 students of accounting and human behaviour in my class last semester were all from none MBA background including me. Mine was even worse because I was non-business background (chemistry) with just 1 year banking experience from naija.

What did I do?, when planning to go to business school, I simply enrolled for short online business, finance and management courses on udemy to prepare myself ahead, read several books and watched several videos on YouTube as well to get myself grounded in the task ahead of me. The way I "dey yarn for class ehn" you will wonder if was from a business background.

On recruitment part, Alot of us were able to secure summer internship with the likes of AXA, VISA, and several others before the covid pandemic even with our non business background/experiences.

I'm not disputing your point that work experience boost chances in business school, but just clearing it out that it's not a sole requirement of excelling in business school.

Anyone who has a clear MBA goal is adviced to try with or without business background or experiences.

There is a reason why the average age at TOP/highly-ranked MBA programs is around 28

For those interested in finance, economics and business graduate school (for PhD), see this https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3589832. Download it.

The link above is a sample of what our RAs do. If you're interested in becoming an RA, send us an email.

Getting an RA opportunity, in addition to at least a good academic performance and of course at least a good GRE, can increase the odds of getting into the school and programme of your dreams. We have sent our best RAs to some decent or even very good programmes to further their studies.

Thank God I saw you.
I am also a graduate of Chemistry currently undergoing my NYSC, batch20A.

The problem is I don't desire to further in Chemistry anymore but rather in data analysis. I have started trying myself in this field but I have no real field experience.

My concerns is will I be admitted in the US or won't that be a problem for me in the embassy and won't it affect my chances of getting full fully scholarship?
Thank you

1. You can be admitted in the US for data analytics masters. You will just have to take 3 to 5 undergraduate pre-requisite depending on your school and background experience.

2. You can't have problem at the embassy as long as you can defend the career switch.

3.for full scholarships, you can get a cgpa based funding or non-academic graduate assistant. Reason is because you are switching to a new field different from your undergraduate, you won't be able to get teaching assistant or research assistant because these requires you to have UG related experience
