I totally agree with you. The mod that deleted it should be called to order by Seun. Even FB will not delete a group/page just like that when its a big or popular forum.
Seun knows about it and probably gave the go ahead order that’s why he has been suspiciously silent.

When you use the term "official" in the title, it means you are implying that this thread was created by a representative of Xiaomi. If you are not a representative of Xiaomi, but maybe a fan/user, then the title is inaccurate.

I still refuse to believe that a 4+ years old thread with 7,000+ pages was deleted/removed because of two pages of trolling. That is extreme and against the ethos of moderation.

When a thread is being derailed, you ban the derailers. If it persists for whatever reason, you LOCK the thread for hours/days.

Folks, don't sweat it. Remember Nairaland is not yours. If the owner/moderators choose to act against your reasoning, let them.

Everyone is at liberty to visit nairaland or abstain.

Peace✌️

Modified.

Thanks for calling this to my attention.

Lol cheesy
Apparently the mod acted under orders from above. No explanation was/has been given yet for the action.
FB group, RantHQ if I can recall correctly with over 1m members comes to mind... When the owner posted Racist /bigotry posts towards specific tribe in the group, they where reported and the group suggested to be taken down by FB.. The posts were removed, group owner took the brunt.
It wouldn't have cost Zuck anything to yank the group off, but he didn't... Even if it was, there is something called due process.

There is a reason why this is NaiRaLanD afterall.

I understand a Xiaomi telegram group has been created by erstwhile members.

Take a moment to consider my reasoning why that may not be appropriate.

That Xiaomi thread was removed without a prior warning to that effect or to even the derailers. 2-4 people are having a go at each other for about two pages, and what does a Mod do? They go right ahead to remove a 7,000+ page thread. Is that incompetence or malice?

24 hours have passed and no Mod has offered any information on why that action was taken. Infact, a thread seeking answers was locked.

It becomes apparent, more and more, as the hours roll by that, that action by whoever took it, was malicious.

When you decide to create a telegram/twitter/whatsapp group off nairaland, remember the hundreds of people whom you have liberated through nairaland.

People who would have made irrational purchase decisions due to their inadequate knowledge. You gave them enlightenment, and when they ran into trouble with their devices, you were always there to pull them through.

If those people are happy with their Xiaomi devices, it's because you played a part in it.

That group has been in existence for months, not just because the thread was deleted. There is a tweaking thread in case people have issues and thread store in case they needs accessories.

And the last time Nairaland crashed, a lot of vital info were lost. So some sellers are now gradually moving to Telegram as a backup, since it has the advantage of cloud storage.

Make we kill this matter abeg. It seems like we are begging them for answers.

i think we should be chatting less here. Their should be some guys that should be adding better people to the telegram page.
At least if transsion guys show faces, the admins can block them.

Transsion devices place advert on Nairaland, and Nairaland needs ads to make money and survive. Xiaomi devices have become serious threat and headache to Transsion in Nigeria and it's headquarter was on Nairaland (our beloved thread). Through that great thread a lot of Nigerians have been liberated from the crappy fraudulent T devices, so the only way to stop the spread (so they think) of Xiaomi is to kill thr primary source of its awareness. Extra dough might have changed hands sha, but arwareness has already being extablished. Xiaomi, Oppo/Realme and other better brands have come to Nigeria to stay and win...

Please, let's resist the urge to talk down the mods or Seun because of the hidden/deleted thread. Every Company has its mode of operation and I believe any/every decision taken is in the companys' best interest but only time will be the judge of said decision.

We have a new thread, let's resist the urge to reply trolls and as much as possible to understand post that may seem at first glance an insult.

All the best!

Take a moment to consider my reasoning why that may not be appropriate...

First off, the telegram group wasn't created in response to the deletion of the original thread; it has been in existence for several months now. Thanks to the wise people who had the foresight to create it then.

Secondly, I personally do not care why the original thread was deleted. Let those who have power use it as they see fit, their business, their problem. I have seen threads on this site that violate all the laid down rules, but they have been allowed to grow unhindered. As I said, I don't own this site, so the owner and the mods are free to do as they please. However, let it be known to all that a dangerous precedent has been set and the after-effects are going to linger for a very long time.

Thirdly, do you know that many useful links on the Xiaomi Compilation thread are no longer accessible? Now imagine if these precious information had been stored on a reliable platform like Telegram, they would have still been available.

Finally, I don't care if the original thread is restored or not, I am indifferent. One thing is certain though, anyone genuinely looking for information will find what he/she is looking for.
