Phorcys and ceto begats the Gorgon sisters, stheno, euryale and Medusa.
stheno was the strongest. Infact, she killed more men than euryale and medusa combined together.
Why is it that medusa was mortal and her sisters were immortal??

Many,many better stories.

Why don't we document our stories so africans can read them , make it accessible like theirs, create video stories too like theirs.

The 3 gorgons sisters medusa, stheno, euryale were daughter of the ancient marine deities phorcys and his sister ceto who are both chthonic monsters..
Both stheno and euryale are immortal while medusa is mortal....
gorgon from greek gorgos means grim and dreadful
"near them their sisters three, the gorgons, winged
with snakes for hair-hatred of mortal man"
but why is medusa a mortal?

Why don't we document our stories so africans can read them , make it accessible like theirs, create video stories too like theirs.

Our stories are generally oral or performed.

Documentation does not have to be according to an external standard or framework .

Recitation and the memory capacity for that was particularly valued in Africa. There were quality control processes to ensure accuracy
E.g Ifa odus are entrenched in the Yoruba psyche.

Do you know e.g that the Quran was not written whe Muhammad was alive . It was learned by heart

Now IFA was carried across to Latin America by slaves without any written documents because the process of recitation embedded it their consciousness in a way that the bible is not. This is done almost fro when a child starts speaking to
If every copy of the bible is destroyed today how many would remember its contents.

I am not saying one is better or worse but let us value what we have.

Ifa odus in my opinion contain the best stories for us

There are many empty courses been studied in universities, so why cant Awo orunmila be a university course? Why cant isegun ibile be a university course. You can specialise in Osanyin, Ayelala, and etc and become a priest if you can meet up with the strict requirements.

If Awo Orunmila is a university course, it will be common for people to drop out as not all will be able to meet up with the requirement.

A modern Awo Orunmila should be an A grade philosopher, a magician and etc, a counsellor, diviner and etc. You can add courses and that person should be proficient in Spanish and Portuguese as well.

Isegun ibile is native pharmacist. It is a body of knowhow passed down over thousands of years. It should be brushed up. The knowledge is not incompatible with modern methods. There should be Bachelor degree holders in it as well.

You cant throw away your inheritance. That is wrong!

Bumped into this. A good read
Who knows the story of Medusa? Yes that ugly lady with the hair of snakes. The Gorgon who men dared not look at else they turn to stone. Do you know her real story?! Well I'll tell you!

When I was in school, I was given a project titled Myths and Legends. Well naturally I settled for Greek mythology and Medusa hit my interest.

I always thought she was evil and all but this is
the true story.

So Medusa was the most beautiful girl in her town. Her hair shone like gold. All men wanted her but she never gave in. She caught the eye of Poseidon the god of the sea and didn't give him the time of day. Well what did he do? He raped Medusa in Athena's temple. Athena was the goddess of wisdom and war.

Now the sad part was Athena was so enraged by what had happened that she cursed Medusa. Not the man who raped her no! Cursed the poor girl who was raped. Turned her into a creature that no man would ever look at again without dying and turned her beautiful hair into snakes.

Now some have claimed that Athena cursed Medusa to protect her but in all my research and even the writings of the poet, the story was consistent.

When I found out the truth behind Medusa, I changed my project and turned it into a tribute called 'Misunderstood'. I recreated her tombstone, changed her garments and created a pendant with her face on it.

Needless to say that was my best project in school and it was on display.

Now to bring it home. Isn't that what happens these days? Both here and abroad? A girl is raped and instead of going for her attackers, you blame her and slut-shame her. Claim she brought it on herald?

When you think of Medusa you think of an ugly Gorgon.

When I think of Medusa I think of a beautiful lonely girl the world failed. Just as the world is failing women today.

Your rigid mind set reflects mental colonization
The point is IT IS DOCUMENTED.
It does not have to satisfy an EXTERNAL definition of Documentation. In your worldview Documentation is framed by what the white man calls Documentation.

You need to change your mental paradigm

IFA is alive in Cuba,Venezuela,Brazil,Miami

Just look at the 4 DOCUMENTED gospels in the bible. Even those contradict one another

No semen, no egg..Jesus supernaturally entered mary womb..Its not rape. Angel Gabriel came to inform mary before the pregnancy was placed in her, Had it been she rejected the offer it wouldn't be forced on her. It was with consent. She is even happy to choosen among all women.

Hercules TV series told a starkly different story about Medusa. Even so, the TV series version still portrayed Medusa as a victim who couldn't help her fate.
By the way, some people do contribute to what happens to them, if we are honest with ourselves. But that can never justify the evil of rape. I mean, a girl was raped on the alter of a church- oh my God- and they wiped the marbled alter with her blood. How can she possibly be to blame? Still, ladies please take care how you carry on. The world is increasingly evil.
