Crysthaniel:I don't know about the first documented account of a rainbow but if you know how rainbows form, then you'll agree with me that the necessary ingredients are there to make rainbows form for as long as we know So, you believe that the polar bears of the Artic made their ways to the middle East? How the f did the carnivores and herbivorous animals survive on the ark? How about insects like termites? What did they eat? If the whole ice of the world melts, the world will be under water? This is a strong claim, can you demonstrate it? I know of cultures that have accounts of local floods at different periods in human history but not at a single point in human history. Moreover, God in his/her might destroyed the whole world and left six people in which everyone comes from today? Then why do we have different races upon the face of the earth and if they were six, his the f did we repopulate them to make up for the loss? I guess they were mating like rabbits with a gestation period of one month |

Judybash93:.. It is true that encyclopedias refer to over a million species of animals. But Noah was instructed to preserve only representatives of every “kind” of land animal and flying creature. Some investigators have said that just 43 “kinds” of mammals, 74 “kinds” of birds, and 10 “kinds” of reptiles could have produced the great variety of species of these creatures that are known today. The ark had about 40,000 cu m (1,400,000 cu ft) of usable space—ample for the passenger list |

[quote author=Judybash93 post=90356754]If the whole ice of the world melts, the world will be under water? This is a strong claim, can you demonstrate it? Am sorry if all the ice melts it will only have devastating effects but not Covering the whole earth.. Mistake What I want to say point out is that the wateres are still here on earth. Today there is about 1.4 billion cu km (326 million cu mi) of water on the earth. It covers more than 70 percent of the globe’s surface. The average depth of the oceans is 4 km (2.5 mi); average elevation of the land is only 0.8 km (0.5 mi) above sea level. If the earth’s surface was smoothed out, it would all be covered with water to a depth of 2,400 m (8,000 ft) |

Reading the entire first page is very sad. Very sad that Nigeria is becoming the illiterate capital of the world. Nigerians youth cannot even read the entire story to assimilate and understand what is under discussion. They just read the headlines and a few of the opening sentence, and start veering off into religious mumbo jumbo. I think we should shut down our universities and convert them to theological institutions - churches and mosques. Afterall, students are more likely to become pastors and imams in Nigerians universities than to become scientists and logic thinkers. Our universities no longer believe in science and research, but just issuing out degrees for the sake of paper qualifications. We will remain a third world country for a very long time, as we depend on other science and technologically advanced countries to help us solve our basic problems, at huge costs. Ignorance is really bliss and the mind does have to worry about difficult and troubling questions. |

Crysthaniel:I have asked a million and one times on the forum for you Christian boko haram (more like Science Haram ) to define "kinds" you guys like to substitute for species. Can two kinds products a viable offspring? Is an eagle and a condor one kind? Is a llama and a camel one kind? What of a python and a boa? 40,000 cubic metres for a wooden vessel that was/is expected to float on water? Why not give us the actual dimensions and construction techniques involved, since you understand the science and technology behind such vessel. Remember, there were no cranes, power tools or even manpower ( only Noah and few family members) involved. Your guys know how to ask extensive details about any scientific discovery but get annoyed when asked of just one detail of your fairy tales. |

Crysthaniel:Then i don't think six thousand years would have been enough for such immense change in the anatomy of those animals... Moreover, we've only talked about land creatures, how about animals that can't spend time entirely in water and have to come to land once in a while. How about insects? How about microbes that live in sand.. |

wirinet:I would say that believing in religious fairy tale may be inaccurate but at least it approaches the reality of truth. Scientific fairy tales of something coming out of nothing does not even rise to the dignity of an error. It is worse than nonsense. We must posit a first cause, according to scientific truth, for any sort of motion to be initiated and we know that the first cause must be outside the body its influencing. So how sensible is a 'big bang' without a first cause? Religious narrations can be taken as metaphors but the scientific fairy tales of the beginning of life requires more 'faith' than religion to believe. I would say aspects of both religion and science are true and correct but both have some aspects of truth that have not been discovered. |

Xisnin:I'd say science also requires belief. Otherwise without belief, how could you explain the existence of the particles that exploded into the big bang. Mark you, I am a rational theist and I believe in science not as a substitute for religion but as a compliment. Science has successfully explained many aspects of the universe especially the 'hardware' but religion does a good job of explaining the 'software'. I would say it is a continuous search for truth in both science and definitely, in religion. My concern with science purists is the implied notion that anyone who differs from their beliefs is illiterate or of inferior intellect. Nothing is further from the truth as some the best scientific minds were also theists, infact, the best of them are. |
