When I read about Egypt’s rejection of her nomination, I was a little bit worried thinking Nigeria might have shoot herself in the foot. It’s good to see that Egypt is only making empty noise all over the place. International law and trade experts in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wouldn’t have advised the president to withdraw Agah and replace with Okonjo-Iweala if the window for such replacement had closed.

It will be a thing of pride if the Buhari administration can successfully pull this through. Having a Nigerian as the DG of the WTO for the very first time will be a big deal. A Nigerian is currently the president of the UN general assembly, Adesina is the president of AfDB and Amina Mohammed is the deputy Secretary General of the UN. If we successfully add WTO, it shows that Nigeria is now pulling her weight in the international community.
and how will this opportunity stop Chinese firms constructing our bridges and roads..

How has she solved Nigeria problems? Kemi Adeosun has shown her worth while in office, and we can attest to her performanc. She was just a victim of political witch hunt.
please elucidate on showing her worth in terms of finance ,NOI after calling her all manner of derogatory names in the guess of fighting corruption, she left Nigeria and continue doing exploits in financial management outside Nigeria where she was tagged corrupt, I am yet to hear anything about adeosun, or has she changed profession? U see our problem as country and leadership is nepotism and favouritism, if you put the right people in the helm of affairs it will benefit the general public, but if we continue like this their won't be any moving forward oooo.

And why do you want Chinese firms to stop constructing bridges and roads in Nigeria? They are doing a far better job than European construction firms and their charges are by far cheaper.

She was nominated because her chances are brighter than that of Agah. Most countries would want to support someone that is familiar to them. Nobody will want to support a candidate that can’t be fully trusted to protect their interest. Okonjo-Iweala is a product of the western controlled Bretton wood institutions so she can be trusted to protect the interest of America and Europe over countries like China and Russia. What is playing out is simply international politics.

If she's nominated by the Nigerian government because she's a puppet of the Western, white supremacist governments, then where's the sense there though?

If she's going to go there to represent the interests of the West rather than her own home government, then she shouldn't have been nominated.

One of the reasons I don't really have much regards for Buhari's administration is that he hasn't been able to bring the looters of the last regime to book.

Their misdeeds must be fully exposed so that those shouting Okonjo Iweala is their saviour can keep mute.

I am still wondering how bubu drop this woman of vast knowledge and connection from his cabinet and with the help and support of Lagos ibadan expressway journalist who demoted her and promote kemi adeosun.

now let us juxtapos both of them. where is kemi adeosun and where is okonjo iweala?

okonjo iweala helping to solve Nigeria and fix Nigeria problem.

Fulanis under the auspices of Yoruba people have finished Nigeria.

We all know that the woman NOI is overrated .

She performed woefully as the coordinating Minister for Jonathan and left the economy in a mess.

As minister of finance she watched as Desiani Madueke, Sambo Dasuki, Secundus , Mama Peace, Bello Haliru and a host of them drained the treasury.
How could any New President retain such a lady as his Minister?

From her performance, I wouldn’t recommend her for the position of Wuse Market women President let alone DG Of World Trade Organization.
But it is good politics to send her to the international market where she is harmless to Nigeria ( even if she gets the position)
Igbos will continue hating, but at least others may be less hard on Buhari because of this irrelevant position.

Of course NOI stands a better chance than the others, but now OP says America was involved in her emergence as Nigeria's candidate but failed to explain how that happened.

READ.....BUT contrary to impressions that the FG may have settled for NOI solely to brighten Nigeria’s chances, a former diplomatic attaché confirmed to The Guardian that the initiative came from the U.S.

He recalled how Egypt used the tenure of Boutrus Ghali to allegedly pursue some interests inimical to that of the U.S., explaining that the Americans were wary of Egypt’s lobby to emerge as consensus candidate.

There is no basis for assuming that the US would support any independent minded person. Certainly not the current US administration

Ngosi Iweala, has the pedigree and the experience. She was not to blame for others ineptitude and corruption. Also, Kemi Adesosun got the vibe and the experience and she performed brilliantly too. If not for the unfortunate NYSC certificate saga. She would have gone places even at the international levels too.

Both women are assets to Nigeria. You can take this to the Bank

Nigerian politicians are always about politics, something which they enjoying doing wrongly, which is not taking us anywhere. Why did they choose Agah, the DDG, in the first instance and want to sub him for NOI? If there's anybody with the prospects of ascending that position, it is the DDG. The world over would acknowledge that.
To me NOI having been in powerful positions would attract jealousy & resentment from eligible voters across the world.
