BluntTheApostle:
Maybe he liked climbing trees and doing such tasks.

Before Mohammed Dikko Abubakar became Commissioner of Police in Lagos state, he liked going on operations to burst criminal activities or to respond to robbery attacks.

When he became CP, he still continued to do it. A whole CP leading his men to face armed robbers.
you have a point.
H!e must be a very humble officer then.
Most Northerners are humble.

Aunty. ..d cables must av bn within d branches of dat tree who told you dat d junior staff has more experience in cutting down trees
Who's talking about experience here now? Read the part "when it was not raining at all" properly and slowly now!

Before you quote me again without comprehending, by saying "when it was not raining at all", I meant that they'll ensure that the place is safe to work before felling the trees!

RIP tho!
But didn't he see the cables run over the tree?
Na wetin make i dey avoid trees wey dey under HT and LT cables, one for my area like that the branches joined with the HT cable, rain com dey fall ontop. Oboy i jejely cross to the other lane, FG should set up a taskforce to checkmate these overgrowing trees under powerlines.
But a whole Csp was that jobless to carry knife and climb a tree? were there no constables and corporals at his disposal to do the job?
Orishirishi somtin.
His death is inexcusable! Can this happen in saner climes? If Abuja residents were acutely aware the electrocution risk these trees posed, would they still be there?

Blame the government and not the poor policeman.

Did you read what I typed well? I said "when it was not raining at all". You see why I said Nigerians don't read at allhuh

They only pick one line and draw several conclusions without properly perusing what was written. undecided

Next time, please read well before quoting anyone!
It's really amazing to see people accusing others of their own very fault. Read all your words to see if there's any sense in what you wrote. I read all your words , there is no logical sense in what you wrote. The problem you have is that you hate to see someone oppose you. If i should reply all your questions it will pose more problem so I picked the one that's far more senseless, thinking that it will be obvious to you.

Nigerians will never read! Somebody even said up there that "I wish him quick recovery".......... O ma se ooo. undecided

Back to the story, I'm still thinking about what made a CSP to be cutting down trees. undecided Don't they have people contracted to do that for them.huh Even if they don't have people who are contracted to do that, wouldn't he have sent his junior associates who could have done it when it was not raining at all?

Well, the deed is done and there's a kind of mystery surrounding the incident. cry

May his soul rest in peace!

Modified:

I don't know what to do to Nigerians who lack comprehension...... Chai!
Before quoting me unnecessarily, open your eyes, read carefully and comprehend!

I wouldn't wish death on a fellow human being like me, never! However, there are companies/people who are awarded this kind of contract to fell trees and they are meant to do that strictly when it's safe to do it and they take necessary precautions before doing this kind of a job because it's their field of expertise.

The late officer's junior colleagues could have been assigned to do that (since it's a government thing and they might not be able to hire contractors) "when it was not raining at all" and when it's safe to do that.

Safety is the paramount thing here!

I guess he did..... but junior officers refused because of the danger and it's not part of their duty. I can imagine him saying you nowadays Police are afraid of everything.... even ordinary rain and electricity.... how can there be current in the line when we have blackout here?... bunch of cowards.... I'll go do it myself.

Re: Lasaka Habila, Policeman Electrocuted In Abuja While Cutting Tree by shiwex: 9:23am On Jun 08, 2020
Nigeria....why is police cutting trees, the other day i saw a video clip of police cutting bushes that have encroached along Ibadan - Ijebu ode road. This is the work of the local government. Local government should have its own team that goes around their wards clearing all rubbish, cleaning up streets, when will this stupid country get to where others are.
Nigeria I remember in those days long gone, each local government will have its own ministry of works and transport and when you go in there, there are lots of excavators, backhoes, bulldozers, graders, etc

Its just unfortunate what we have turned our police into - some are now personal guards for the rich, some carry briefcases and files for their boss.

Hmmmmm....... Only God knows what actually transpired.huh

All in all, we should be careful in whatever steps we take because our safety is our responsibility!

Safety first, safety always!
