My story plenty ooo... I pray I'm able to summarize with apt and dish out the meat at the end.

I've never been unemployed all my life. All thanks to my upbringing. I started making money as a teenager. Sold pure water and gala at different times while I was in my secondary school and I still managed to be an exceptional student in class. While waiting for admission, I ventured into repairs and sales of micro gadgets like MP3, MP4, CD Walkman player, DVD palmtop media player and so on.

Life was sweet back then. I made so much money but I was never satisfied bcuz I felt pressured to further my education just bcuz of those secondary school hype of "the boy is brilliant and the boy is good"....trust you know that kain thin.

After 2 different post UME heartbreaks, I finally settled for a polytechnic (never have I considered stepping down to a polytechnic level if not, would have been in HND1 by the time I was entering ND1). Again, I graduated well with distinction and that reassurance of my academic prowess came back.... I'm brilliant nau. While searching for a place to intern for my Industrial training, I got a 50k job offer in 2012 but I declined with my shoulder high that I'm better than that ...even as an ND holder ooo...lol

Fast forward to 2017, I quit a job that brought me so much respect and satisfaction due to my ego again... This time, I had graduated from a private University where I paid through my teeth to complete and with my reassuring self, I'd thought I was going to get another job during or after my NYSC. Luck almost shone on me during my youth service but village people at it... I lost the opportunity to a sadist after getting positive recommendation from my country director.

After my near miss at securing another job, I ventured into poultry with a substantial amount of my savings. I targeted easter period and reared boiler chickens only to receive the greatest shock of my life when market realities hits me hard. It was a year to forget as I lost close to 60% of my investment. This got me desperately in need of funds and that desperation led me to the nightmare of my life - I finally accept a 50k job after spending a million plus in a private uni to acquire BSc....mind you, I graduated well there too.

CoronaVirus came and the company (insurance) couldn't meet up with their obligations due to the effect of the pandemic on the economy. As type this, my last salary is still being owed since I was relieved of my appointment on May 18.

After all the merry-go-round of my life, I'm back at Alaba international market where it all started for me. I'm learning how to fix laptop computer (upped my game from the media players) at age 30.

All my friends and mates who were envious of my academic superiority and my exploits in the corporate world didn't know that they were allot better off being a boss of their own...all married and doing well. Mind you, even those who have the best of careers in corporate service still fall back to entrepreneurship at the end of their years of active service. So why not start early (now) and gain ground before they come back to the street and rule over you?

For me, I concluded my schooling (Caritas Private University) and service when i was 22 years. I stayed with my widowed mother till i became 24. That 2 years was full time war because I battled within myself over my non- educated friends that are mostly into tanker and Container motor drivers flourishing while me that much is expected from had nothing but "thank you" whenever i finish eating my mums food ( not jealousy though)

Mid of my 24 years, i moved in to stay with my sister in Enugu. Away from home, i was more free to engage my self no matter how humiliating the work look.

I started with Teaching. I was paid 15k per month, after 5 or 6 months of saving, i rented my own apartment, Used the remaining money to buy rice, tomato paste and beans in large quantities. I made good savings before the year ran out.

The next year, i opened a phone charging place and employed a girl while I was still teaching . Money started flowing in small small. I had about 300k few months later so, I opened Firstmonie outlet.

I started massive saving. I was targeting to open an iron company where i will sell building materials last 2 years, but the required capital is too much so, I went into rice.

I am Thankful to God for where i am today.

You can still make it if you don't have a job. Just start as small as possible.

Move away from home and squat with your sibling or good friend if you are too ashamed or not free to engage yourself.
nice one bro

Am totally confused about life issues, I think it would have been better if I channel the money and the time I spent in school into learning a skill. I finished NYSC since 2017 and am above 30 years now still nothing to show for my life, I have thought of business but no money. In fact am tired of life.

I've never experienced this kind of life in my life time.
Finished NYSC last year October, ever since then life has been terrible. Applied for jobs but wasn't selected, tried business (I redeem gift cards and buying bitcoins) but didn't last, no customers(the few ones I had left without any concrete reason), have a debt of 100k plus to settle. The only company that manage to consider me employed me with o level.(HND holder and I have NCE )
You can imagine that (the disrespect is best imagined).
Just tired of everything.

My story is very annoying sha.
I left secondary school while I was 17, got admission into a private uni but couldn't continue because of the way the school treat students, there is no respect for the students. and I'm not the kind of person who fancy a secondary boarding school kinda settings and my course was not accredited in that same school, after spending few years there, I thought its not worth the stress so I left and went to a state school and studied a five year course, I was suppose to graduate last year but then because of ASUU, I graduated January this year, I decided to forget my certificate though I had a good grade but I wanted a different life that is not about certificate and then coronavirus came and time deh tick, age deh go. I was never at home Jobless but when I look back, most part of my life after secondary school was useless but whenever life gives me a reason to quit, I just can't give up, I have a feeling as long as I keep struggling to go higher, I may get to the top one day
Please try and collect your certificate

That jobless period was a fantastic opportunity for you to plan for life after NYSC. I served in a village school in one of the states in the southwest and i had to be going twice a week. I begged the principal cos the place was really far from where I stay and they were not paying. The remaining three week days including weekends was used to chart my future course. You can never gave the free time you had during nysc again. At that time, I planned for either a job in nigeria or a research assistantship in US. I got about 3 or 4 job offers in great companies two months after the end of my nysc and I resumed with one of the coys and worked their while still pursuing a PhD admission in the US. After working for about a year, I got the PhD offer but declined it cos I also got my dream job here in naija although in a different region from the south west. Never been jobless in my entire life. I must always be occupied with something
elektra:
I haven’t been jobless since I after secondary school.
I worked as a cashier during undergrad, then I got paid to go to grad school.
The most jobless I’ve being was during NYSC, the government agency I was posted to did nothing. All we did was gist all day long, even the directors and full time staff were gisting with us.

Bro,There’s always light at the end of the tunnel and I have got this saying bout life whenever life hits us the hardest from that point on it would only get better....don’t get desperate and don’t despair a lot of people are going through stuffs like you you’re not alone just channel your energy into positive thoughts and productive endeavors do an analysis yourstrength, your skills and your ability don’t be too proud, shy or afraid to start small just keep at something...and also if you’re a great believer in God speak to him he listens and I believe he’s gonna light up your path..there’s always something for everyone of US we just have to find that one thing and run with it and lastly stay upright, stay clean and Legit there’s always a reward for such existence without having to fear no consequences don’t delve into anything that’s gonna give you a troubled conscience and a war with your soul or make you look over your back cos at the end of the day it’s not worth it.life and existence is just a mirage we should do our best to be happy, enjoy it,be fulfilled and make the most of it before we hear the Call it’s too mundane to live it extremely!May the heavenly force be with you Bro
