I Completed university at 21 . (2006)

The Job I desired was not Forth coming so I had to do the Job I didn't desire. As long as it brought in some cash! I also gain some great knowledge that has helped me and many others

I also improved myself with some Certifications ( Nebosh, Nhs, etc)

I later Resigned and had some good business dealings with my a relation.. All these things were totally outside my Course of Study (Accounting)

At a time I sold Arduino uno Pc and all that programming stuff with no Fore knowledge and Experience. But it was great!

By GOD'S Grace and Help I Relocated out of the Country!

I am still a Work in Progress !

When I look back , I have Great Reason to say THANK YOU PRECIOUS FATHER!

The few facts I know is
1. Knowing and Trusting JESUS Eliminates Many Struggles in Life.

2. Don't live life To please People! The Moment what you do is pleasing to GOD , carry on

3. Don't always follow the Multitude or Majority! The Multitude most times are Wrong. Follow what GOD'S word says and those who share similar belief.

4. Fornication is a Crippler of Destiny! It takes you back and down the pit. ( I say this From personal Experience)

5. No Matter how Friends Give up on you, do not Give up on yourself..

its because you did not know the value of it. I worked as a contract staff for a bank and discovered that our top 50 customers are apprentice, business owners, artisans. they make a lot of money. one thing is that if you are good at what you do and market yourself well, you will smile to the bank.
kk....got ur point but would like to av dt listed handwork as a side hustle too

It has been Allah all through my life.
Wrote 0 level exams thrice, jamb thrice and finally got admission at the third trial at age 20, graduated age 23, served @ 24.
At 25, i do side hussle like block molding . It later dawned on me, i am still sharing room with my siblings at my dad house. I was using a phone worth 20k, i sold it for 12k and rented a single room to start my life with 300 as monthly kontribution for electricity bills. I applied for teaching job at a primary school 10 steps away from my rented apartment, boom i was employed that very day via my B.Sc. I form big boy and told them i can only resume the next day. The pay was 12k.
Though i was planning to save and expand my income when kovid 19 came. Now the biggest brain challenge, how far can i go again.

by the power of faith and the power that opens up the heavens to rain in the days of Elijah

I call on heaven and sane God that never fails He is and forever be God, that your faith this evening heals every affliction in your life.

your glory be restored and your years of waste be returned in 10folds in abundance in Jesus name

I finished secondary school at 16 and I started teaching in a primary school and I was paid 7k monthly till I was 17 years old and I got admission to do a 5 years course. During the strike in 2013, I went back to teaching in that primary school in the day time and one adult school in the evening (I was paid N150/lecture hour). In my 300l , I used the money I saved up to buy a printer and I started doing student registration and payment of school fees in my hostel....business failed but I am thankful for the experience.
After my university defense, I applied and got a teaching job in a secondary school and I did incredibly well, I taught there till I went for NYSC in 2018 . During my NYSC , I learnt how to sew clothes and after that I returned to my family house in November last year and I have been at home sewing while applying for jobs.
I want to own a standard private school ,a standard fashion school as well as go into real estate . I have big dreams and I know I will make it soon.
if not that I'm married I would have seach for you wherever you are and ask for your hand in marriage.

Life wasn't fair to anybody especially those of us that are born without a silver spoon in our mouth.....so everything we aspire to become or achieve in life is gotten through serious battling and fighting...and it is not only fighting alone, you will sit down and strategize and then set out different ways you think could be accomplished... And to accomplish your aim is another ball game because definitely, you will meet all kinds of obstacles and interferences and your ability or tenacity to overcome solely lies on you.
After I finished serving in a public school, the principal called me that if I can be patient enough that he will assist me so that I could be retained. But because I had a lot of hopes and aspirations then, I respectfully declined to his offer. So, I came back to lagos to start hunting for jobs.
I got a teaching job from the different tutorial centre and my take-home then is equated to what an average salary was as at then.
Thereafter, I got a job in one of the federal agencies...at the initial, the salary was so small but I made money outside my salary. And what I made outside my salary triple my salary. Though the money is made, I still have dreams beyond my present job, this COVID 19 issue is really a setback for me... I pray things should get back to normal....

That jobless period was a fantastic opportunity for you to plan for life after NYSC. I served in a village school in one of the states in the southwest and i had to be going twice a week. I begged the principal cos the place was really far from where I stay and they were not paying. The remaining three week days including weekends was used to chart my future course. You can never gave the free time you had during nysc again. At that time, I planned for either a job in nigeria or a research assistantship in US. I got about 3 or 4 job offers in great companies two months after the end of my nysc and I resumed with one of the coys and worked their while still pursuing a PhD admission in the US. After working for about a year, I got the PhD offer but declined it cos I also got my dream job here in naija although in a different region from the south west. Never been jobless in my entire life. I must always be occupied with something

I didn’t even get any penny. I didn’t want that . Someone even said I should go to his wife cos she works with first bank in that area. I even wanted to get my friends in d social media space involved to drag his name on social media and troll him but mehnnnn that’s too much drama Nd I don’t like dramas . I do my best to avoid dramas. Now I know why some people go as far as killing someone who derailed in bizness. But Godforbid that I do it. It’s over one year and I’ve let it go but now I’m scared of going into any bizness at all. I feel like I won’t do well or I might b swindled.
At a point, I had to involve some rough boys in my area to help recover my money, but somehow he went behind to influence them to play double games. Yeah, I understand that feeling. But I've vowed that next time, if I ever change my mind about venturing into any business, it has to be one that I will be almost 100% in control of with very minimal involvement of another party. People are so heartless these days I swear. Desperation everywhere.

My story.

Finished from secondary sch at 16 with high hopes and good grade. My first real challenge was jamb. Did jamb 4 time bfor i finally made it to one of the federal universities. I spent like 6 years in the uni cos of strike and stuff and my course was a five years course. I went to one of those universities where lecturer are happy when student fail. I have had a lecturer that says you will all fail in Jesus name. I wonder the mentality. They brag among themselves how they made lot of student fail. I finished from the useless school (I still feel it was a waste of my time). To make it worse i graduated with a third class. I felt all was hope was lost. People will told me even me that had 2.1 i never see work shey na you wan come see work.

I accepted my faith. Am i promised myself that am not a failure. Started looking for job. Was at home for 19 months without job and frustrated with little or no financial assistant from any one.

Luck smiled on me. I got my first job of =N=49k. I saved almost everything because i wanted to do pro courses. I did and i passed with very good grades.
I did my PGD and in open uni and i have done my masters also.

Now am doing quite well, i have far exceeded where i tot i wld be in just 7 years. I got a very good job with the pro courses (In IT) i did.

So my point is that you should never limit yourself because that that grade you come out with in sch. You can still be great if you remain focus and if luck smile on you. Do pro courses (Though it is expensive but its worth it), dont give up, you too can make it even if you come out with a PASS or Third class.

Give hint on the type of pro courses

which program course do u suggest i start with cos am interested in any thing computer especially software, ai, robotics and all
and any websites, programs and all do u also suggest
can some get lyk really good work here in 9ja wit no uni only programming certificate

I know a few guys who got good programming jobs with certifications only without uni or poly cert. Mind you, programming is competence based and you're not going to be limited to Nigerian labour market alone provided you're very good at it and you've done some projects on your own to show for it. I have a friend in Malta who got a job from Nigeria and was flown there as an expatriate.

In addition to those certifications, you might wanna check British embassy website.they also run higher diploma courses in computer science which you can do on a part-time while you keep to you BDC job. That will give your CV a boost too.

As for where to start with programming, if your knack for AI is strong, you might wanna start up with Phyton or seek advice from gurus on IT section of Nairaland. They will direct you. In addition, I came across some websites that run free courses, though it might not be comprehensive but it's going to be a good start.

Chat me up on WhatsApp on 08130303131. I will add you to a group chat where you get links to those few online courses. Peace

Very interesting thread
I studied computer Engineering in school, after completing my nysc i stood at home for close to 7 months.. I applied for jobs in top IT companies in lagos, from main one, system tech, sidmach tek experts..all efforts prove abortive, depression was beginning to set in. During those periods i stay with my uncle who was a fashion designer..i began to learn from him to while away time.. suddenly i begin to have interest in it.. I got an offer for a teacher job from a friend , the salary wasn't lucrative .. initially i wanted to reject it..i started the job because i have to teach my area of study (Computer), and i had bills to settle, i started yhe job..during that period i didn't stop learning fashion design.after school hours i resume to my fashion job....I began to get sewing Job from family members, and close friend....i gota contract from the school to sew there school uniform..Then the pandemic started....I just hope we resume school very soon...,i presently survive with my fashion skills...i have plan to save each money i get now to write my CCNA and proceed in my career, i also plans to have my fashion house.....we are not there yet but its a work in progress
