Council can’t do anything for you about childcare at that age.

Do a search for childcare providers using your school’s postcode (childminders, private nurseries etc). A lot of people keep kids at home or with family until the 15 hours kick in and then they can top it up as required. Have a look and you’d be able to work out what the hourly rate is. Just a note of warning, full time childcare is not cheap anywhere. It often costs as much if not more than your housing costs!

Alternatively, your school’s International Office might be able to help as they’d have had students in similar situations.

duchess90:
The local council is in charge of school systems and free childcare systems.if you know the postcode of your school use that to search for the local council under the GOV UK website and send a detailed email explaining that you need clarification so you can plan.i know they will insist that placement will only be done when your kids are here but atleast you get a certain guidance/cost and can plan accordingly. Unless you want a private school or childcare.

All the best

Thanks to all friends that have provided answers to any of my queries. I am becoming more confident in this process. @STENON can we please talk through PM? I just got an offer for pgce secondary mathematics from Staffordshire university and will like to get adequate info on ways of maximizing my time and the programme. I still need more guidance on the admission process too.

Well..I did a search on Bedfordshire where I live and the council has a list of registered childcare providers in that age group..anyway,my kids are older so I can't say much about this.

All the best to the person searching

I do not know ‘someone’ who got it.
I am on tier4 as I type this.
At 3, My daughter got 15 hours per week. Rather than 3 hours per day for 5 days, we made it 5 hours per day for 3 days (she wasn’t getting free meals though)

Last September, she started Reception class.
Take her to school at 8:30am. Take her home at 3:15pm. Monday to Friday. She gets free feeding.

Okay, my daughter will turn two by the time we arrive U.K. I was thinking the free hours start from 2years, which means I will have to pay for full time childcare till she turns 3 sad angry

Which is expensive and easily from £800 to £1500 depending on where you live ... so please come prepared . Even at 15 hours , if you need the child to be there the whole day mon to fri then what you pay still adds up

Is this a Govt school? I've heard cases where one don't need to apply online but only register with the school and get the free 30 hours

Private nursery cost between £700 - 1500 full time Mon - Fri depending on how good the nursery is.

The one I currently pay for cost £850 per month! That is 40% more than what I pay for my accomodation at the moment.

Goodafternoon and congrats on your admission. PGCE is a better opportunity for studying Education because it gives direct opportunity for getting the QTS status in England. The main thing now is to focus more on getting your visa for that course. Please try and be familiar with Mathematics secondary school curriculum and topics in UK, most especially for the exam classes. I don't really know the actual one for England but for Scotland S1- S6, it's always on BBC bitesize https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize , "click on secondary"
and the major focus is always National 4, National 5, higher and advanced higher examination for the respective subjects.

Thanks

You can use an account denominated in any currency as long as it's held with a bank whose statements the embassy can verify.
I routinely use my domiciliary account for visa applications.

amaeve:

See quoted post below.

mimilyrics:
Visa fee is £348 for a standard application, priority visa processing costs £348 visa fee + £220 priority processing fee, super priority costs £348 visa + £956 super priority fee. Priority and super priority processing have faster turnaround than the standard processing.

IHS fee to use the NHS is £450 (£300 per year + £150 for the extra 4-6 months granted after the course ends) for one year programs. You have to pay this online after you submit your application but before you can pay your visa fee and book your biometrics appointment.

For a standard visa for 1 year programs, total costs in naira will be close to N400,000 (including IHS) depending on the exchange rate used.

$ equivalents are taken from your payment card if it's not a $ card.

As long as it's your account and you've got enough money in it, you can use it. There's no rule against using accounts in other currencies outside of your local currency. The embassy doesn't focus on the local currency (in this case, naira), you just have to show that you have enough funds in your account.
