Rem22: Get a letter of Administration from the nearest court if your father did not write a will or did not include the shares as part of his Investments. A good lawyer or Stockbroker will assist you with this Or get in touch with Meristem Registrars and Probate services, they will assist you and their charges are affordable. 8 Likes 1 Share |

emmanuelewumi: Oga boss, he is not trapped. And he made it known from the beginning that it purely based on speculation. BUT IS IT NOT DEROGATORY(jocular) TO USE THE EPITHET trapped FOR 1,000,000 UNITS OF JP AT .27KOBO WHICH IS #270K Or is that amount about 70 or 80% of his capital? His money is in UACN, THEN FIDELITY THEN GUINNESS etc so if at all JP goes wrong, it is Alms. 1 Like |

Biafran4life: You can avoid the 10% tax by writing a will, transfer the assets to your children before transition or transfer the assets to a Family Trust Account. Very difficult to under declare the value of the stocks, but the value of real estate are usually under declared. My cousins inherited 4 properties worth a minimum of N160 million, but the lawyer who helped them with the letter of administration declared N50 million as the value of the properties. They quickly used N5 million rental income from the property to pay government. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Biafran4life: 10% is only charged on real assets and bank balance. A minimal fixed amount is charged per stock not units in view of the volatile/unstable nature of stock prices. 3 Likes 1 Share |

In fact, at a point during his administration, he appointed independent estate valuers to do the valuations on behalf of the state. And the trend has continued with the subsequent Govs, though they now have regularly reviewed rates for different locations, that reflect true value. 1 Like 1 Share |

You still can't compare to stock. Check the valuation from LASG for land use charge, you will see a valuation of N20 million for a property that should be about N40 million in the market |

machine606:Don't know if you got answer already. Q1: Having more than one broker doesn't hurt.....just be sure to do things right when opening additional account to forestall any issue that may come up in future. Q2: Its possible to tick coys you don't have their shares yet when submitting e-dividend forms. However, it's always advisable to buy even if it's 10 units of such stocks to avoid stories that touch when you eventually get them. Some of our registrars are still trying to upgrade. 1 Like |

emmanuelewumi: Yes, because you can still pay 10% for that same property to process LA notwithstanding you already paid or have been paying LUC |

sophy17: In addition my points are: 1. You don't pay 10% on stocks to process LA. 2. From the time of Jagaban, you cannot undervalue a property in lagos to the extent of 160m to 40m. Yes, it was the norm before, but no longer feasible. 1 Like |

Nice report you got here. Did you generate it yourself? Wapco has a higher revenue than Bus yet their cost of sales is almost two times that of Bua. But the others also spend on power I believe. DrAwo: |
