Police Can’t Be Everywhere – IGP, Mohammed Adamu by ogododo: 2:20pm On Jun 23, 2020
Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Adamu on Monday said the Police can’t be everywhere, at the same time.

Adamu stated this in Gombe during the state inauguration of the Community Policing Advisory Committee, which will be co-chaired by the Emir of Gombe, Sheu Abubakar, and the state Police Commissioner, Maikudi Sheu.

The IGP, who was represented by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, in charge of Zone 3, Haliru Gwandu, said there was no better time than now for community policing to commence.

He said, “I consider this timely and very crucial. The Nigeria Police Force has continued to emphasise that while the police cannot be everywhere, our communities are found everywhere. Consequently, safety and security will be better guaranteed when and where members of the communities are actively involved in crime prevention and community safety.

“Since the formal introduction of community policing approach in 2004, NPF has made community policing the cardinal focus of efficient service delivery.”

He added that the emerging crime trend warranted the community policing strategy which, according to him, is citizen-centered.

On his part, Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, said security is highly imperative noting that without it, anarchy will set in.

“The provision of security is the number one priority of each government because when there is security, you can guarantee that lives will be protected and businesses will be sustained. We remain focused as far as security is concerned,” Yahaya said.

That's the reason why advanced countries deploy Security cameras and develop intelligence everywhere....

The more reason they profile everyone early.

We all know. That's why I consider anybody still comfortable with our present unitary system nice as lacking intelligence.

Nigeria is a population of more than 200million people with leaders of poor quality. And the masses in serious mal behavior. What we need is to devolve power to regions.

I still remember Obasanjo calling South Eastern governors treasonable felonies for calling for a co Federal system of government. Unfortunately history has proven they were right after all. Also I remember Johnathan telling a journalist during interview that Nigeria is just so big and that Boko Haram were attacking soft targets.

When you pause and reason all together you will know why your country cannot be better. Even the army and the police sometimes support law break down just for the budget. I really pity all those making noise about how Nigeria will one day become paradise. Even UK that colonised us are not practising our system of governance.

Just listen people, expect for a drastic action like break up or regionalism, those hoping for a positive change are in for a long thing.

Well, I consider his utterance as an irresponsible and insensitive statement to make at a time of widespread killings, and banditry especially up north.
Gone are the days when our leaders had a way of allaying the people's fears despite their ineptitude. undecided

Our leaders are not so sound upstairs. The Police Command in collaboration with various State govt can contract installation of security cameras owned by private companies like they do in Tokyo, London (G4S security company) and other cities to monitor live feeds from the security cameras and report any crime seen.

We have a number of them in Nigeria like Halogen and the rest of them. Let them think outside the box.

That is the problem with the Nigerian Police hierarchy after collecting money from the big men and policticians. You deploy thousands of Police Men to Big Men and Top Politicians houses out of just about 150,000 Police Men and Women we have in the entire country which is far below enough in the first place. So how many is left to secure the lives and properties of the ordinary citizens. Why can't these Politician hire Private security firm to provide Body guards for them.

If I'm the president of this country, with this nonsense statement from the IGP, I will first of all demote him, and then sack him.

Can you imagine what a whole IGP is saying that police can't be everywhere, and they are everywhere around our border milking commuters dry all in the name of checkpoint.

This is high level of incompetence, you want the citizen and the comunity to support you and yet your people going about killing innocent lives in the name of raiding.

Do you know how many innocent lives are being wasted every day? Not to even talk of the innocent lives being detain in the police cell and the correctional centre for what they know nothing about.

Can we even count the amount of cases that has been swept under the carpet just because of corruption in the NPF

As far as I'm concern this man is not fit to be a mere police man not to talk of being an IGP
