I later learnt she wasn't really snappy per se. She took advantage of the fact that she knew I was scared of been bitten. My Huby would always tell me she won't bite me. Before he picks up a puppy, he would call her name in her loving manner when she brings her mouth to his hand, he does not pull back as I usually do. Usually, it's not like he takes the puppy away. He just relocates the puppy so that it or the others can feed better. Overtime, we gained her trust and she does not snap anymore.
If we need to deworm or crop the ears etc, we ensure she is locked up somewhere she cannot see us "traumatising" her puppies and lose that trust in us.
With Isis, it's different because from day 50 of mating, I am always with her feeling the puppies so she knows they are "our" puppies not just hers. I can even put them in a carton while she is looking without trying to get them out but Ira is different in this case.
Ensure you gain her trust basically.

I really don't know what DDVP is but I know when dealing with these infestations, you have to be diligent and patient. If you study the life cycle of these pests, you will understand why diligence and patience is required. There are some ticks that are asexual all you "need" is just one on your pet and there will be an explosion. The good news is you can prevent this from happening by using good sprays, they may not come cheap but they save you money and stress down the line. Spray your pets as recommended even when they don't have the pests.

Good hygiene is also necessary. Scrub your pets room with bleach(it kills the eggs), cut grasses around(cos they hang on to them as well) etc. I will recommend Fiproprotector spray(250ml), last time I got it for N3,500.00

All the best.

Oh I see. I honestly don't know what will work best for the cage. Maybe snipper. If I were to use it, I won't let the dog into the cage for a week. You can see which works best by putting the live tick in the different subtances and see which dies first.

If the litter is large you will need to supplement the bitc.h's milk from about a week of whelping. But if it's not large, you won't need to bother yourself. Just feed the bitch well anyways.

It's been long since I had a large litter. I used to use complan and egg yolk (quite stressful) . So I were you, I would buy puppy milk. They are kind of common these days.

From 3 weeks, I gave them cerelac and lactogen (though it wasn't originally meant for them). If I didn't have the lactogen, it would just be the cerelac. From 4 weeks, grounded kibbles and egg yolk. I boil the egg, take out the yolk, mash and mix with the soaked grounded kibbles. I gave them blended whole egg but they dont really like the egg white and ended up wasting the food. So for now, I will stick to the yolk till they are 5 weeks old.
I feed them 4 times a day. 8am, 12 noon, 4pm and 8pm. I usually let them nurse after I feed them.

Make sure u don't over cook the egg.

For about 2 weeks now I have not been able to post pictures. It's really frustrating. Well, the puppies ae doing great. We said bye to one female shortly after their first vaccine at 5 weeks. The male and other female should leave soon.

I noticed they each have their temperament. The girl, though smaller is very fierce and daring and the male just loves to play and cowers away when challenged.

At this stage, I feed the pet cool kibbles, canned food at time. Will try mixing with cooked iced fish today.

I understand your pain.

Let's hope it's not the dreaded parvo. Does the puppy throw up as well? I learnt there is a disease that causes them to stool blood it's just like coccidiosis in chickens. You will still need a vet to treat though. The dog will be needing antibiotics, b complex and drip.
