Without tomatoes my ofe akwu isn't complete.

You definitely learned to add tomatoes in town, no grandma in the village would teach you that. grin

No try am o. The blender will pack up and run from your house.
Buahahahahaaaa... grin.. Ok. I won't.

How do you people survive without a mortar?
. Hmm.. Left that thing way back at the family house and dont want to ever remember it because of the torture of those days of pounding Ukpo. Chai... Momsy will make us pound boiled ukpo and that thing can fly like crazy and you be sweating trying to catch and pound at the same time. So it was a nightmare anytime we wanted to make oha soup. You know our mothers. They don't like to buy powdered one for fear of adulteration. So... I dont want to hear mor... Hehehe...

Anyway, you can use your hands or put it in a small pot and pound with a bottle or that stuff for turning garri.

sure sure sure..
Thanks

Pocohantas, ignore that broke ass J111 333 and let me introduce you to my cousin who works in Saipem. He is looking for a wife who can cook very well and you are a good specimen grin

Ukwuani people don't cook their Banga like this. We cook our ofe nkpulekwu with gborogi (water leaf), ugu, bitterleaf, egusi or okro. We boil the palm kernel extract until the oil begins to float and then dunk every every inside.

Naso we dey boil am too na, just that we dunk scent leaf...not water leaf. I will like to see a detailed TRADITIONAL process of how you people cook yours.

As for J111, leave him to me. He will regret wasting my youthful years. grin

Ofe Akwu is very different from Banga soup. Infact it is traditional to the NNEWI people.

You don't put tomatoes to OFE AKWU, just like you don't add Palm-oil to tomato stew, it is aberation which obviously will be frowned at in the village.

Goat meat will add a great taste to OFE AKWU...

Good food is good biko.

I can cook but I eat better.

Well I don't know who you are or where you grew up.

That there is Ofe in the name doesn't mean it's a soup.

And it's not an Igbo version of any soup/stew.

Ofe Akwụ is as original to the Igbo race as Nkwụ ọcha/nkwụ énú etal

I can understand you trying to write it that way to make people understand what it is but it's wrong.

I know it isn’t a soup, that is why I ate it with rice. I don’t know why the “version“ is making you Igbo and Niger Delta supremacists livid. Does version have another meaning I don’t know of?

It is not that deep abeg. grin

Nobody owns it (alone). Food is universal and different people will have a way of making different meals around one “source”- in this case banga. They will all have the version native to them. I never knew Ibibio people have something very similar till my friend saw me cooking this.

Yes, it is really tasty and I have heard people say it is healthier. You should try it. wink

No it won’t work biko. The extract is not exposed to the kinda heat that gives palm oil. They are not the same o. Palm fruit extracts are sold in stores, you can use that.

Ghana even make banga soup.
All the canned palm concentrates I use for ofe akwù are packaged by Ghana. All west African countries use palm fruit concentrate to prepare different soups or stew depending on the name it's giving.

So you guys should stop this.
