Why not build the Power plant at Ajaokuta, since it is easier and cheaper to transport Power to the North, than to transport gas?

There is gas already in Ajaokuta but the steel company is not working. Dangote uses some of the gas in the Obajana Cement factory.

This is absolutely rubbish and waste of money, initially I thot it was meant for distribution of LPG/LNG for house hold use, with LPG terminal as designated location, just same way we have NNPC fuel Depot across the country.

transportation of Gas for power generation purpose in the north to me is pennywise pounds foolish.
why can't the power plant be situated somewhere within the SS at worst SE, this will drastically reduce production cost on electricity produce.
in northern part of this country, where we have less rain fall and sun light, we should be talking of renewable energy here, Having a Solar farm here should be our best bet.
