Well, there are other countries where you pay way lower than the UK and even do so at top institutions. But hey, Nigerians must choose the UK. Personally, the UK is an option if the institution is in the Russell Group of Universities or preferably in the top 5. If not, then better head to countries where foreign students pay the same fees as nationals and you get to study in a renowned university there. There's nothing wrong studying abroad after all, Singaporeans, SKoreans, Malaysians, Vietnamese etc. do same even when these countries' universities are ranked in the top 1000 globally. The difference is that Nigeria's economy isn't as strong or doing well as those Asians. That said, people should expect more of this especially as oil loses its value (major foreign earner for Nigeria) and the population rises. Worse still, the standard of education is declining rapidly. Look at ASUU? |

Anneka101:tactically speaking, its not the exchange rate that is the problem, the main problem is that the money is simply no longer available to steal. |

TenthMan:I logged in for your comment. This is the real reason Nigerians school abroad. This is why my children will never study in Nigeria from BSC level. Even the private uni are as bad and worse.if in doubt see news from CU and afe babalola recently.NYSC is equally as bad.evil HR and cliches everywhere and nothing to protect the consumers. The students are at their mercy and they end up graduating passive aggressive yes men not capable of taking initiative Who would want that for his or her child To fix naija unis forget money start from fixing the HR.Same with the hospitals |

flyingpig:re-couped which amount, very few of them get jobs over there, I have seen many Africans who regret studying in the UK and many are now going to Canada, China, USA to study. |
| Re: Nigerians Pay N152b Tuition In UK by flyingpig: 12:17pm On Jun 29, 2020 |
onyechez:True though. USA is the best country for anyone who wants to re-coup his tuition fee after graduation. Too many damn jobs in USA with low taxes. Exactly the opposite of UK. |

SmartProf:That's the mentality of most black people, you don't want to fix your country but all they do is running around like sheep's from one place to another, family is important and first choice but we shouldn't forget those with good societies got fix by their citizens. We should avoid this nonchalant attitude and fix our country so that we can gain a little respect because where we are coming from we always be sited and things about where we are coming from will be referred to us by neighbors and friends just like what trump and his likes are doing to African Americans such as IIhan Omar. We all saw what Chinese did to Africans in China and Caucasian American cops did to Floyd George. Peace |

flyingpig:Sure, we need to get our priorities right before we jump into troubles. I read a news where a Nigerian student spent thousands of pounds in the UK to get a PHD degree in the UK but was refused and discriminated against, she requested for a refund but to no avail did she get it, she came back to Nigeria and re-apply to go to the UK but was denied visa, such news should get to naira land to so that the relevant authorities would help her. |

If our president and his cabinet come together and make Nigeria a great country again, then our citizens will not be investing there money on other country for education and other beneficial quality of life, but President, vice president, Senator and other big and wealth men children's and family are there in foreign country not minding their home town looking at this belonged country like a trash to sad, Well politics need to give 80 percentage of their earnings and other miscellaneous expenses, to the economic so that we will have a better life and a great future like Dubai and Chinese economic, so we still have a long way to go... |

mattfeuter:Hahaha, you think you're smart by Saying keep quiet. Fix your country , the same way others have fixed theirs, did I say you shouldn't study abroad. Those black people who fought against slave trade and colonial rule despite their leaders enslaved and sold them for you to be free today, do they have 5 heads You can choose to be sensible if you like. |

Nigeria is a funny country, how did all these people earn their money!? On another note, many Nigerians steal government money, and lavish it on their spoilt kids to obtain foreign education, most don't even attend classes regularly and miss the point of a Western education, in Nigeria we read to pass exams with too much forced cramming, there they expect you to think and develop skills you will need, more hands on. Yet these over entitled kids, pass out of University with grades and nothing else, and end up being "placed" in lucrative jobs by their parents at the expense of more local graduates, a cycle that must be broken by all means!! I'm not saying no to Western education, but no to this cycle of robbing the Nigerian peoples money to improve yourself and your family ,then denying the same Nigerian people the opportunity to aspire to good jobs by reserving these same jobs for your overseas trained spoilt brats. |

The sad thing is that a law graduate or a medicine graduate or a graduate of any other course who went to fed varsity for close to nothing in and who is outside for postgraduate studies will have the effontry to blame the govt too |

onyechez:God! UK Government is wicked! Whereas she can spend such amount in Canada and be awarded with a Permanent Residence status after graduation. This is sad. |

mattfeuter:Actually you should be ashamed of yourself and those like you. Who define standard Education? Is that why students of the substandard African schools excel and succeed in the so called standard school abroad? The only high standard in most African countries are those similar to American or British schools. This is why their names start with International, British or American with one or two groomed homeless, retired or fired staff from Europe and America attracting students and parents with looted incomes. Ask yourselves where they get money to pay all those fees abroad and why Central Bank in Nigeria even allow it. Do you guys realize that serious successful students abroad work full time and go to school full time? Do you realize these students have parents, brothers and sisters at home in Nigeria they send money to in order to feed and pay fees in Nigeria? Do you realize that the same money they and other foreign African workers send is more than incomes of most African countries? That your looters and politicians go to black markets and scoop the money sent by the same African foreign workers? Chinese, Russians, Cubans etc with their local standard of Education have produced international scientists and Nobel Laureates recognized in the same countries you copy copi their "standard" Education. Your slave mentality will never end! |
