But this staff is not being fair o...She forgot the part where Funke supplied her enough Amala ati Ewedu(hydraulic soup) steady.

And the main reason why she got sacked was when she mistakenly used Funke short broom she uses to stir ewedu soup to wash her toilet at the back

Two Movie Producers that see movie Production Business as war and battlefield are Kunle Afolayan and Funke Akindele

They don't joke on set , to them a movie Project is like NASA rocket lunch that no mistake must be tolerated

Well if I am to be very fair and honest here, Funke paid you to write scripts and even gave you a lodge and a laptop to work with, now you complained she took away the TV in your lodge, and insisted you use the laptops only for scripts writing, and not Facebooking , yet you complain, why not use your own salary to buy yourself a TV, and Internet enabled device, subscribe and watch internet on your own time

Accross UAE, most recruitment firms would paste it openly that they don't want Nigerians, they accept Ethiopians , Cameroonians , Ugandans and other Africans , then I curiously asked an HR with this recruitment firm why, the lady said they had bad experience with Nigerians, Nigerians sign an offer letter because of the salary without reading the responsibility

The Chagaoury are now using labourers from India, Benin Republic and others for Eko Atlantic,

Dangote refinery also uses Indians and Chinese

And if you think ordinary Nigerians are worst try the civil servants

Here in my estate it’s beninoise and Togolese laborers I see working at building construction sites

The comments here has made me realize what all these black Americans do say, Nigerians are one hell of a slave, and so used to be treated in an inhuman way that they see anyone voicing out as lazy.
Now, let me help you, there's difference between hardwork and stress work, it is Africans mentality or maybe Nigerian's mentality that stress work means more productivity, thats why in every sector in this country, one experience stress work, especially Nigerian university students, and banking sector and at the end, those stress work has not made Nigeria grow anyway forward

I do not condone laziness myself, but as a leader you should have strategies you use in making sure your employees are not underperforming nor over stressed. This is another reason why many housemaids employer overwork and stress out their housemaids because they believe in the peanuts they are paying. No matter what you pay people, it is not a reason to dehumanize them, thats is why we have the labour laws that I know its non functioning in Nigeria.
I do not know if this story is true or false, but I do know that lots of Funkes workers complain about how she treats them including one beautiful lady that was working for her Jennifer's diary that time (Toyo or something).

Learn not to dehumanize people you feed, it is a priviledge that you are in that high position, a good leader makes followers work hard in a healthy way.
I agree with you but you see some employee abuses flexibly. When you give them an inch, they go extra mile

When you go through the list of the best foreign movies and series that a lot of us Binge watch, it was written and produced in an amiable environment. Go and see the amount of money amazon, Facebook, Twitter and their ilks spends to create a riveting working environment for their workers, you’ll be astonished. Here we are encouraging people to be treated like slaves because they were paid for it.

Especially in a field like theirs, propitious environment is not suppose to be a luxury.

It’s good to instill discipline, but there’s got to be balance.

Productivity for any project does not work that way. It's like a slave mentality to have workers in place you arranged for them without any other resources for a break or leisure, and you expect them to be 100% productive. Do you understand how the brain and human body work. The employers you listed are those who believe in using workers as slaves. Even if you don't provide a TV set, you as an employer must provide resources for leisure or break. Look, I used to work at one of the very top oil&gas companies in the USA. I was invited from Canada to the USA where the head office is located for an interview. After the 3 hours of meetings, discussion and presentation, I was taken round the huge complex of the company. And while walking around with a future colleague, he pointed to a soccer pitch right in the middle of the complex. He said they play soccer every lunch time. It was at that point I decided that, man I am joining this company. I am a soccer addict. There are gyms, basketball court. Almost every day at lunch time for 30 to 45 min we play soccer.. Some days we used to play table tennis. This way you are working with employees who are physically and mentally balanced, and healthy. The company benefit from this as well. You don't get the best out of people by putting them under a "slave" condition. Apparently Nigerians love to be abused. Just yesterday, I saw a news of an Indian company that locked it staff up to work continously for several months in spite of Covid-19 only for extra N5k per month without adequate food.

Hmm.
Let me rebut her claims:

Funke is just a workaholic. She's serious-minded. She wants 100%. Sometimes to get the best, strictness in workplace is best option. A free handed management mostly leads to lackadaisical attitude on the part of the employees.
So because she doesn't allow TV watching means she's evil, right?
Then corporate institutions that frown against play at work and other distractions are evil.

Workers will always find a way to make what they dislike in the employer seem so evil.

If funke is paying you for the script, give her what she wants.

Google doesn't operate like this and we know how much they're worth.

Do you know what is called a culture? Nigerian employers have a culture of "abusing" their employees. So, thats why it is okay to not accept that you can't put people in a place for 8 to 24 hr and you expect them to be productive without providing other resources for them to relax physically or mentally. It has nothing to do with big companies. Its a culture. A small company or individual provides what they can afford based on their pocket.

The rubbish you wrote up there works in other climes, not here. I worked many years in the UK and I know how it is. I'm still flabbergasted at Nigerians' attitude to work.

In Nigeria, knowing the type of people we have, it is important to be very strict, and always be on the watch out. If you don't, they will ruin your life, money, business and time.
I'm sure they were provided other means of leisure, but not the one you are advocating in your epistle.
If you want to get 100% results with Nigerian workers, be ready to be on your feet 100%. Be ready to do oversight X2 of what is obtainable elsewhere.

This is the way Nigerians encourage foreigner employers or companies to abuse their local employees. If the foreign owners is trying to do things and provide conditions that is conducive for the employees, it is going to be a Nigerian at the management level that is trying to lick the ass of his/her foreign boss, that will advise the company not to provide such resources for the employees. Your own people recommending that it is okay for you to be abused just because of position and money. This countru is filled with sick and mentally deranged people.

I initially wanted to say she is being lazy and all that, but on listening to the video I would say those writers are being abused. Most people's comment were based on only the brief write-up under the video. I do not believe the contract letter for the job will indicate the kind of abuse they will face. Sadly its mostly Indians and Chinese that do forced labor which is not the best for sustainable growth!!

There's a reason Nigeria is the way it is.
Most people don't know that a culture of excellence is built on purpose.

You cannot force creativity so forcing script writers to stick a schedule or routine is counter productive.

And what's your point? Labour cost is cheaper in those countries. That's the primary factor. Multinationals have standard of practice across different countries. The motive to move certain services offshore has nothing to do with not providing good working conditions for employees. It is primarily to reduce cost of labour. Often we don't understand the implications of what we do or why our country is the way it is. It's because Nigeria is filled with irrational people. For example, what's the culture of maintainance in Nigeria? Where people use things and do not take care of it, even if it is making money for them. You see, individuals like Funke Akindele cannot excel beyond Nigeria. Here people give and take "shits" from each other. Is it not a country where an employer paying you N30k per month will expect you to go buy lunch for him/her everyday even though thats not part of the job description. Where banks send out ladies to go and prostitute themselves to get customers. What a culture. Why did you think that slavery lasted for 400years? It was because those that were profiting from it locally didn't want it to stop.
No one is telling her to go break a bank. Simply provide the little you can. Even mechanical equipments need proper maintenance, not to talk of human body and brain. Funke Akindele is just an ignorant individual.
