It's very nice you pointed out the bone of contention here: consent. Under law, you are not supposed to violate a lady under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Nobody made the assertion that the guy fed her alcohol. You made that. If he was that drunk, how did he manage to drive her back home? If he was able to coordinate his motor skills in driving her home then he should be able to understand that her consent was needed before he had sex with her. If he was that drunk then we should be reading about their auto accident or obituaries.


We live in uncertain times and should get consent to avoid such stories such as this that touch.


What are we even debating about? We all know the lady just want to soil his reputation. How?
They are adults.
Agreed to meet.
He sponsored her visa and trip over. Which would have come at a hefty price.
Was she supposed to play hide and seek while with him?

The fact that she still slept with him again. This time none of them were drunk and she still stayed there even after it has been established she has family in the UK. UK-based Nigerian medical doctor, Dr Funmilayo Harvey was accused of rape by another doctor Dr Bola Aseyan, has responded to the allegation.

In a post he just made on Twitter, the doctor stated that they met on Twitter in 2019 and despite never setting eyes on each other, the relationship was never stable.

He then mentioned that he specifically asked her if she was insinuating he sexually abused her and she replied saying NO.

In his rebuttal, Harvey wrote on how he accommodated Bola for 4 months in his apartment despite the duo not being in talking terms, and his only crime was him not allowing her into his heart.

Why is your question reeking of double standard. Can a drunk man also give consent? How are we sure it wasn't the woman that raped him. They were both drunk means they can't both give consent so in my own mind there was no rape. Why must the responsibility of "consent" always fall on the guy? A criminal barrister says men should not sleep with women who've drank any alcohol - because consent laws are misunderstood by some men.

Cathy McCulloch, who has 34 years of legal experience in sexual assault, advises men not to have sex with women if they’ve had a single drink in a Mail Online article, as this may compromise their capacity to consent.

Guys can get a lady drunk and pretend they too were under intoxication too. That way, he could have his way. My guy, we both know a lady cannot travel from Lagos to Abuja to see a guy without sex already been on the table talk less of travelling from Nigeria to UK. To you, the doctor has a case. But a good lawyer can turn that case into a nightmare for him.

The above statement alone will get him in serious trouble. When she is drunk, you ain't suppose to sleep with her especially when not in an established relationship.

Judges rely on evidences presented and how they are presented to make judgment. That is why it is your lawyer and his evidences and presentations that decide judgment, not the knowledge of the judge.

That is why I wrote that if a lawyer makes a good case against the doctor, a judge would have no choice but to pass judgment against the doctor.
