It could be the phone or her body that caused it, unfortunately we don't have investigators in nigeria that check this things.
I'm not in support of the theory that phones cause sparks that trigger an explosion. I'm talking based on nigerians that choose to believe it to be at the side of caution.
I believe it's static electricity or a faulty metal body phone that passes current to the body. Phones signal isn't strong enough to do it.
Experts have experimented on this things over and over again and still nothing happened but the fear had already been established thats why uptill today fuel stations would tell you to off devices and engine.
There are small electric zaps in your skin that you can't feel so it's always advisable to discharge those volts from your body buy simply touching metal to transfer the volts from you to it before handling flammable gas/liquid.

Don't pick calls in gas stations or in kitchen if you are using gas.... It's very risky

whenever I'm in a vehicle traveling and we stop by to refill the tank, I don't allow passengers take phone calls, sometimes they ignore me or even insult me which usually generate into exchange of words, I'm usually scared of this stuff. If I have my way sef I'll rather use firewood and charcoal instead of gas and stove.

This problem could be from the gas... Gas has different types...some gas are highly inflammable....

Bro, people live in one room and use gas in that same room. They make calls there and no explosion occurs.

I lived in an apartment without kitchen where I cook in the same room that I sleep in. I make and answer calls there until I left that place.

It's because she put on the gas without lighting the fire. This you know is very dangerous and anything around could ignite the fire.
