Hello Qudkom, please I want to pick your brains a little. I notice you are in BC.
I have two admissions - one in UBCO (Kelowna) and the other in TRU. They cost about the same - roughly 18k for a two year masters.
I have been following job postings on indeed for some time to get a feel for the job opportunities in both towns, and it appears Kamloops has less opportunity than Kelowna, while Kelowna appears to be more expensive based off what I read online. What’s your opinion of the pros and cons of either school based on employment opportunities and affordability post degre?
Thanks

Hardworking Mama.

Sincerely, you have expressed my thoughts. I wish to share my testimony likewise that I submitted my application June 4th, received request for biometrics on a Saturday about two days after submission and later got a request for medicals on July 1st while still awaiting the VFS in Nigeria to give my biometrics.

Let us know that no two applications are the same just as our faces differ. The commonest thing I observed here is many people often kill themselves in fear of nothing that exist. I belong to the Winners family and certainly, I believed my application will be different and I will return again to share my final testimony.

Personally, I thank God for the journey so far and appreciate every contributors on this forum. I have learned so much and am indeed grateful. I will return soon before the end of the month to inform the house of my successful Visa application.

First and foremost do your self a favor and stop checking indeed. That's where people mostly get jobs but dont for once think it's that straight forward. Kelowna is a larger city with more opportunities maybe but it doesn't necessarily mean anyone will find a job easily either. Both cities are relatively small and living expenses anywhere in BC is expensive. Rent and utilities will be a average of $550-700 a month. Also you'll still have to pay MSP(Medical service plan) of $75 monthly in BC. Lastly, if you are strictly skewed towards jobs then go to kelowna 100%. If you want a balanced conditions then Kamloops. Kamloops is small you can come in adapt and figure out the next move.

To buttress your point on job, experience has taught me the fact that there are many posting does not mean it is freely available. I don’t want to water anyone spirit, but know that some jobs are posted after the sit had been filled. Some post to fulfill all righteousness. I have also noticed that minorities generally have better chances of getting a good job outside cities, particularly government jobs. I will generally advise people to choose program that have great courses, as relevant to their profile, and be ready to move after schooling if necessary.

[quote author=Ogedadiva post=91410454]Good evening house. Please I need a headup urgently.
In 2018,I applied for Postgraduate Diploma programme in Economics. My Visa application was denied.

My academic background : I'm a First class graduate from University of Ibadan, department of Economics Education. I just concluded my Masters last December from University of Lagos.

A family friend encouraged that I apply for a short program of one year. The program is a diploma course.

My concerns: The course is not a progression of my academic background. However,it's a program that's not yet run in Nigeria.

Please what's your take on this? Anyone that can help ,please?Should I go ahead or start looking for PhD.programme in Canada ?

I am 37 years,married with three kids.

I will advise u try Ph.D for academic progression also there are more opportunities for Ph.D programmes with full funding

Hi,

The phrase "The program is not yet run in Nigeria" might not carry much weight, and the distance of ur academic qualifications to a DIPLOMA is way too much

For progression in ur academic background as mentioned,

PH.D is your best shot!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And if ur e-mail to the Professor/Dr. , PH.D thesis proposal is tight, u can even get Partial to Fully-funded Opportunities

Visit the links below for schools offering

U can also use the link to search for PH.D programs related to Economics in skools in Canada if Economics is not ur area of interest for PH.D

Note:
Since ur possible admission intake is JANUARY WINTER 2021 intake,
U can as start contacting and sending mails to potential supervisors, cos the duration of getting a PH.D/Masters Admission can quite long or sometimes longer (2-5 months)

Currently, work permit holders are able to travel to Canada so long as they are coming for a non-optional reason. Other exemptions apply, including if an individual is coming to Canada to be with an immediate family member.

Study permit holders are not able to come to Canada if they did not hold a valid permit as of March 18. This new announcement by IRCC, however, suggests that Canada plans to introduce an exemption for study permit holders who wish to begin their studies in Canada this fall.

I maintain: IRCC said they will continue to PROCESS AND REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS, while waiting for applicants to provide them. The only thing is that no final decision will be made or anyone refused on the bases of incomplete documents.

A visa officer can process and complete an application with or without Biometrics. You have submitted enough documents to show who you are!
Canada only introduced Biometrics barely 2 years ago in 2018.

Besides, are you aware that they have given a waiver to Essential Temporary Workers who are unable to give Biometrics in their countries to get it done at their port of entries? What does thay tell you? Visa applications can be processed without Biometrics if IRCC chooses to authorize it.

Everything I have written here is verifiable on the CIC website.

Your current position is "pre-covid", right now, things are not as rigid as you're trying to make it look. As for your friend, every application is different.

The bolded statement is a false claim and misleading information. Biometrics have been in use for visa applications to Canada for more than five (5) years now since my existence and experiences on this process.

Since you claim everything you said is verifiable on IRCC website. Please provide me the link on this account.

Thank you!

This is Amazing,

This reminds of someone in this forum , I think in early part 16 or so, a first time Applicant,

According to his Approval Story,

He got approved without CIC requesting him to do medicals and he never did an Upfront Medical, after his Biometrics he got approved.

Some Protocols can broken if Oluwa is involved which always make no two application the same. An error from CIC might be a blessing in disguise for an Applicant.

As the Canadian Study Visa Thread Motto would say, Courtesy @Frank,

It will end in Praise

If u don't mind, Kindly share us a screenshot of the amazing development of urs for EDIFICATION PURPOSE

Wish u a bumper & bountiful grand-finale testimony

I’m happy you know your best option. Google search programs In Canada. The website is a database of educational programs in Canada, particularly universities program.

We are just entering the season of supervisor search for Fall 2021. So you came at the right time. You have a lot of work to do for you to gain PhD admission, but I suspect you may know how much it is. How? You are asking for a link to Educational Psychology programs.

You need a supervisor. Getting one is not always easy and this is what determines where you will apply to. Also, getting a supervisor does not mean you will get admission. So you need supervisors in And apply to more than one school.

Google and read how to do it. Some pages on this thread already have the hints. I don’t save them because I don’t need them. You need to find, read, and understand them. The good thing is that you have time. You can start your supervisor search in August. This means you have to read and understand the requirements within a month.

All the best.

Good morning @FrankRobbn,

Ordinarily, I would have ignored and moved on, but I think it is important qe all get some facts straight.

We are all here to learn and share information with one another and sincerely you have done a lot to help people here.

However, there's an attitude which you and several others who because of the time you have spent here believe you are now gods, so nobody is allowed to either "think" or "have an opinion" without an attempt to short them down.

That I am new to Student Visa thread does not mean I lack the ability to think for myself in every area of my life including applying for study permit.

It is tiring that when people make posts all you guys do is look for holes to pick out. Sometimes, just chill and do ypur own findings or move on.

That notwithstanding, find attached the proof to the main position you criticized.

I am very happy for @ObaniDavid's testimony, and if I were him I won't share a screen shot of the letters, haters and doubters should all go and hug transformer.
I pray for his type of testimony to happen in my life as well.

Cheers,
