EXCLUSIVE: Acting EFCC Chairman, Magu, Detained By Police In Abuja, To Be Returned To Aso Rock Villa For Further Interrogation

The ordeal of Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, got worse on Monday evening when he was thrown into a cell at the Force Criminal Investigation Department Headquarters in Area 10, Federal Capital Territory, shortly after being interrogated by an interagency panel inside Aso Rock Villa, Nigeria's seat of power.

Magu's arrest earlier on Monday afternoon had sent a frenzy across the landscape especially with the large number of policemen and Department of State personnel deployed to the EFCC office to seize him.

The combined security team stormed the EFCC office at Wuse II in three trucks to arrest and move Magu to the Presidential Villa in the Asokoro area of the Federal Capital Territory to face the panel.

SaharaReporters gathered that the interagency committee led by a former Court of Appeal judge, Ayo Salami, did not show Magu a copy of the allegations against him even though he requested to see a one.

Panel members, it was gathered, only read from a dossier in front of them during the grilling session.

After completion of interrogation by the Presidential interagency committee over corruption allegations against him, Salami, who was said not to be satisfied at Magu's defence, ordered that the Acting EFCC boss be kept in detention until 10:00am this (Tuesday) morning when he'll be returned to Aso Rock Villa for continuation of the grilling by the committee.

These developments squashes claims by the EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, that Magu was not arrested but voluntarily submitted himself to the panel.

It also punctures the lie by DSS spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, that the secret police was not involved in the arrest of Magu.

The DSS in a 2016 report revealed that Magu was living in a N40m mansion.

He was arrested on Monday after it emerged that he had four houses and was moving money outside the country through third parties.

Imagine when the head of an anti corruption agency is accused of corruption, Truth is the EFCC has always been a lucrative job that provides opportunity for the recovered loot to be relooted right from the days of nuhu ribadu.

I wonder how other countries will be looking at us, in this country we just know how to make a mess out of everything including fight against corruption.

It was the same nagu that said he has started the process for extraditing hushpuppy, now what makes him different from hushpuppy?

Shehuyinka:
IBRAHIM Magu, the embattled acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is spending the night in detention at the Police Force Criminal Investigations Department, (Force CID), The ICIR can authoritatively report.

Magu was on Monday arrested by security operatives attached to the inter-agency panel set up by President Muhammadu Buhari and taken in for questioning at its offices at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

A reliable police source told the ICIR that the acting EFCC Chairman was interrogated for hours until late Monday evening when the panel rose from the day’s sitting.

However, to Magu’s utter surprise, rather than being let go after all the questioning, he was asked to be detained at the Force CID in Area 10, Abuja. It was confirmed to our reporter that Magu arrived that facility late on Monday night.

Whether confirmed or not, the image of Magu has been sufficiently blurred. Even if he is eventually set free, the harm has been done already.

The corrupt (and they are legion) are rejoicing at the turn of events.

Last week Magu was shouting "Hushbingo will be brought to justice! "

This week Magu has been detained for corruption practices.

Says a lot about the people we have in power.

Quite unfortunate. Though Magu was dutiful but he was dancing and swirling and dancing to the whims and caprices of his paymasters and corrupt politicians. His hand is also soiled with oil. The people that appointed him knew all along that he is never a saint ; and of course going to toss him to the thrash can when they are done with him. His service delivering the ignoble roles is over. He needs to shift for someone else. Dedicating ASA- NO ONE KNOWS to Magu

"No One Knows"

Just the other day, the other day
I was talking to the weather man
About today oh oh oh
And all, all he could say
Was no one knows tomorrow

See I can read the weather child
I can say maybe the rain will fall
The sun will shine oh oh ohh...
But that's as far as my guess goes

Cos no one knows tomorrow
Oh oh ha ha..no one knows tomorrow

Tell me what's the need
To go to war, all the killings
Just to settle some one else's score o o o
When the victory isn't even sure
No one knows tomorrow

See, we can study history
And philosophy and Plato's ideology
Oh oh ohh...
But tomorrow's still a mystery oh oh ohh

Cos no one knows tomorrow
Oh oh ha ha..no one knows tomorrow

Tomorrow is your opportunity to fail
Or be successful if you please, yes indeed
Tomorrow is a politician's today
It's the victim of decisions
And the future of our children

So when I die someday,
Will I be in heavenly places
Singing halleluiah with an angel

On the piano or will I be
Just another contribution
To the earth, the trees, the grasses

As tomorrow slowly passes
No one knows... no one knows

Smoke & mirrors...

There is a bigger issue that this regime is trying to use this Magu issue to distract from.

Magu is simply being used as a sacrificial lamb, once what they are covering up clears, the matter goes cold turkey...

I can bet you that will never happen. Not with magu at least. Do you know how many times he's extradited diezani since 2015 while the woman is enjoying her life all over UK. He even went about confiscating audio properties to titillate zombies while the woman always insisted those properties are not hers or the values inflated. She even offered to come back to Nigeria to clear the air during one of those audio recoveries only for may magu who claimed he was trying to extradite her to reject the offer. Talk about audio anti-corruption pight

Lol. But the useless EFCC claimed he was only invited by the presidency.. The idiots are trying every possible means to shield themselves from the shame and embarrassment they've found themselves. I just hope the bald headed hypocritical idiot rots in Jail for months or even years if all allegations leveled against him are true...
