Maybe all these is just in an attempt for schools to move on campus this fall as most schools won’t want to loose their international students if the students decide to transfer to other schools doing on-campus this fall

Just my thoughts tho

The information at the link you shared is also on the ICE site.
I am sure schools will update their SEVIS system and do the needful.
I expect new information before weekend.

Well, I didn’t see the information about new I20 on ICE website
That’s why i shared that link...
My school is resuming on campus in the fall.
I hope other schools adjust and resume too so that international students don’t have to leave the US or transfer out of their school
And I wish those waiting for embassy to open the best

These schools must certify to SEVP, through the Form I-20, “Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status,” certifying that the program is not entirely online, that the student is not taking an entirely online course load this semester, and that the student is taking the minimum number of online classes required to make normal progress in their degree program. Could you share the link from where the screenshots were taken? The screenshots contain more info than there is on ICE website.

Hi,
Thank you so much
I think I prefer paper based. Does it take much longer to get scores though?
For the computer based, you will see your verbal and quant scores immediately after the test then receive the Analytical Writing score after 10-15 days.

For the paper based, scoring will take around 5 weeks.

Ok thanks

So I've narrowed my list of universities for undergraduate admissions

MIT
Harvard University
Princeton University
Yale University
Stanford University

Gpa: 4.95/5.0
WASSCE 7B's and 2 A's
Great essays
Great letters of recommendations
I've not taken SAT/ TOEFL
Due to the pandemic, but I've been emailed by each institution that I can submit my application without test scores

Pls what's my chances of admission
I'll be using the coailation app

And your questions and contributions are highly appreciated

Thanks!

Don't tell me you wanna apply to only those schools. No safety schools at all? Even students with perfect scores are not guaranteed admission to any of those schools.

Okay

Can we still use form I-20s received by email?

fairheart:
Exactly! With this new rule, new i-20s will have to be issued to students whose schools will be having hybrid and in-person classes. Or else, no visa interview or even entry to the U.S. But it is too early to determine when a student should ask for the new i-20 since embassy is still closed. smiley

Hi!

I'm quite knowledgeable about the undergrad process. Those colleges are high reaches for everyone--including students with all As. You can't apply to only those schools.

Are your Bs B2s or B3s?

I know a lot of people who got into these schools for undergrad and I must say their WASSCE was way higher. This isn't to say you can't do it, but you need to add other schools. Add LACs with international funding like Amherst, Williams, Lafayette, etc.

Also check out Minerva at KGI.

You should totally take the SAT &/ Subject SATs. My friend with a 1510 was rejected at a lot of top colleges, but got into Amherst and Darmouth. And she had a 4.0, 5 A1s and had Olympiad experiences. Another with a 1460 got into Stanford with a phenomenal essay and international experience. All my friends basically had *something* that set them apart.

Don't stalk college confidential for the sake of your mental health.

Basically, you need something that shines through your app. How are your ECs? Your essays need to be awesome. I promise you a lot of essays are really horrible.

Honestly, your SAT needs to be really high to make up for the WASSCE.

I wish you the best of luck, but that college list of yours is not it. Besides, I think at first all of us are blinded with the promise of prestige. Why do you even want to apply to those ones? Have you checked out your future departments in each one. Ivy or not, not all departments are fantastic.

Goodluck!

if his high school GPA is 4.95/5.0, I think he can use that instead of the WAEC.

Also he should look up these schools.
Franklin and Marshall college
Washington and Lee university
Berea college.

Hi!

I applied 4 years ago but didn't get any substantial scholarship and I needed 100% scholarship. My app was also weak.

But I got into my safeties basically. The scholarships weren't anything.
Pace, IIT and one other place.

Then I remember like 2 schools asked me to reapply the next year due to age.

It was many years ago. I fashied and got into a uni here.

Now, I'm applying for PhD ✊

I have some knowledge from my application season though, and a lot of my friends got into good schools with full scholarships. I'm always happy to share info.

Goodluck!

I don't think anyone on this platform has a definite answer to that at this time. I believe schools will reach out to their students in the next few days. If you don't hear from your school in a couple of days, then you can contact the international office.

Hi guys

During application, please can I add final year project as a research work even though it wasn’t published??.

Hello,

A research work does not necessarily equal published work. If you're in the stem, then a whole lot can be included as 'research experience'as long as this includes collecting, organizIng and analusis of data (or a variant), please feel free to include them as a research experience. And this doesn't necessarily have to be your personal research. If you've worked as part of a research group or laboratory to investigate say 'how EV's transport tyRNA' you can always include your role and overall findings of the team as a research experience. Of cause it will help if you do cite the PI in charge of the overall research.

example. Research assistant to Professor xoxo
Project title: Investigating the mechanism of tyRNA transport via EV's.

Your role: carried out PFGE to separate PCR products.

Also, with the help of your current or previous undergraduate advisor or mentor, you could always publish your finals project as a research article. The key is having thorough understanding of what you have done.

Hope this helps!

Though I feel the new proclamation is not very fair especially for students already in the US, but I think it's ICE' way of ensuring ONLY people that needs to travel to study are given VISAs...I also think this is a good step leading to embassy reopening (International students are to be prioritized for the new i-20). All the best guys and I hope those affected negatively will be okay , too.

Northwestern isn't a safety school by any means but it's worth a shot to apply there. It's just a tier below the ivies and its students act like it's an ivy, lol. It's also pretty expensive but they have robust funding for PhDs (I'm guessing they should for undergrad too).

Hi,

Please, do not post your essay here. Send me a private message. I'll review and give my honest thoughts. You have access to your LORs? Yeah, I would be happy to help review them privately.

People steal people's essays. You don't want to get rejected because someone plagiarised your work. Don't post your essays publicly until you've been admitted.

Hi! I tagged you earlier on. Please, what books did you use for your GRE prep? Any tips? Did you submit your final year project? What do you think made you stand out to Stanford?

Quantitative:
Manhattan subject books
Manhattan 5lb book

Verbal:
Magoosh Videos
Magoosh PDF book
gregmat (YouTube) videos
Magoosh vocabulary builder app (free on play and appstores)
Barron's essential GRE words
I also read articles on theeconomist.com everyday to get used to reading 'complex' passages. (Not all the articles are about economics, lol).

Writing:
gregmat videos
https://www.mbacrystalball.com/gre/gre-essay-grader (free automatic grading software to practice since both a computer and human grades the real thing)

I think a combination of all the factors in my profile and the impression I made on my PI during the interview are what helped. In the Stanford application, apart from everything I listed there I also had to write like three more short "essays" that gave an insight into who I am. So apart from Stanford being a "big name" I'm happy I'm going there because they actually tried to get to know me as a person.
