10k a month is a lot of money. 120k a year.
Unless the person is engulfed in bad debts, 10k is more than enough even for a family.
Which tax go run with person dry with 10k salary.

What is the median salary in US states.
Even in States with the highest cost of living, their average salary is hinged at 75 to 80k so why would you say 10k a month salary is not good enough.

10k/month a lot of cash?
Have you considered federal and state taxes, mortgage/high rent, bills of all kinds, car, health and home insurances in that 10k?
By the time Trump's Amelica system deal with you finish eeh, if you go home with 5k from that amount, na miracle unless ofcourse you have Igbotic sense. grin grin
Bro, people survive on less than $10k per month and still achieve greater things in life. You cut your coat according your size cloth, have you ever heard of that? It's this kind of thinking that makes a lot of lazy Nigerians here go into scams and all sorts of crime. There is no easy way to build genuine wealth!

Biko did I anyway say that people can't survive with salary of 10k/month? My comment was based on the phrase a lot of cash in the comment I quoted and also to make mockery of the US tax system.

Biko mek una stop the mention. I live a very quiet life and don't like arguments. If a mention is not about something to laugh about, biko don't bother me.

A quick question I want to ask and know hearts of peeps.

I have a badass programmer pal. Full stack engineer. Recently did a job for someone, and made some real good cash. Like up to $120,000. The money came from building software for 3 microfinance banks in the country[/].
He earns over 450,000 Naira as salary here in Nigeria as well. We got talking yesterday and he's telling me he cannot stay in Nigeria, that he's resigning immediately after lock down for airports are over.

His argument is 450,000 Nigerian Naira equals
1,162.97 United States Dollar, wheras in the US / Canada for instance, the salary is way higher.

[b]Question is what do you think
?

Abeg link me up to your friend, Python or Go.
Oboi that money na FIRE oo.
Once again link me to your friend let's connect.
...
If your friend wants to, let him zoom out of this country.
The pay is good, working condition is excellent.
Remote job pays okish, but it's unstable.

Is this even a question? You must be MADD! $120K = 120,000 * $450 = N54M annually compared to N450K * 12 = N5.4M annually.

We've not even talked about several other living factors ooo.

So you see why you're MADD! angry

If I'm earning that kind of 450k, believe me, I will find my way over to Canada as soo as possible to earn better and live a better live away from insecurity in this country.

Nothing better than giving your kids the best life you were not exposed to when you were young.

Lol, does Nigeria spend dollar?
If he makes let's say 5k$ over there, he won't be any different from someone making 500k here because over there he I'll still spend in $ not naira.. unless he is talking about serene environment which also comes with its own downside like racism and stuffs.

For me 500k# here over 5k$ there anyday anytime

That is a big lie. Get your facts right before advising. Do you know what it means to make 5k Canadian Dollars or USD? After all the tax and deduction he should go home with atleast 3.5K dollars which is a huge difference compared to meager 450K Naira.

Can 450K give him a serene environment in places like Lagos and ABJ?

I'll leave with my family for 120k USD. Living in Nigeria is a dangerous sport.

After being in the west for a year, 450,000 naira which is about 1,200 USD means nothing to someone working even a $24/hr job

If your friend is truly badass,,,,he should leave the country as soon as covid wahala is over, its usually not easy finding your footing in another country but your friend's case is a bit soft. He has the skill needed to survive and get the opportunities, he also has 120 thousand gees. That's enough to help him stabilize completely. People are stabilizing family of 4 in d abroad with far lesser money. Your friend should stop wasting in naija.

The coronavirus have exposed a lot of countries especially America. Only a fool will reject a salary of #450K for such option. America embassy and other foreign embassies in Nigeria will be quick to give you visa once you have a good monthly income and a reputable work cos they know you are not going to live in their country illegally. Only those children on nairaland who still lives under their parents will think that abroad is everything.

He should leave Nigeria.

Experience is the best teacher.

His life, his decision.

But he should keep exchange rates out of the decision or he will live to regret it. Visiting US is different from living in US.

Um, its 450,000 naira = $1600
His friend went overseas for virtually the same role, he was doing in Nigeria and presently earns $7000/month for remote jobs.
I have been in thoughts... Hence i decided to ask..[/quote]

Who is really harbouring these thoughts; you or your pal?

What I tell people is full stack programming and robotics programming is the future, I.e where the next world is going...

I'm currently doing my masters in Mechatronics Engineering, would have gone halve way if not he pandemic.

I must finish a hands-on robotics and machine programming in Germany.

So guys don't limit your dreams, aim very high and strive to achieve it.

If you don't know how to raise funds, this will surely be your startup.
