Kudos to Chartey, drkay and the other doctors on this thread.... You guys really gat the time and energy to explain to these ignorant fellows, obviously they would argue foolishly because they are not knowledgable...
I would rather divert my energy to study for my exam and japa at the slightest opportunity.

Imagine someone arguing that PLAB is not written exam....damn....no, its reading exam ni...SMH

You think say UK na Nigeria, where everything is disorganized?...

Those doctors are post-plab2 and are registered with the GMC already. They were 'trapped ' in Nigeria after coming back from the UK, to process the necessary documents needed for their GMC registration. They were (un)fortunate to be in Nigeria at this moment as many of their colleagues in other countries had joined the NES and NHS already.
You think 58 doctors would be so stupid to fall for this arrangement if it was an organized scam? They have colleagues scattered all over the UK who are doing the background checks for them.
The truth is that the government would not come out to tell people the main reason why they didn't allow those doctors to leave, at least, at this moment.
Remember no politician can travel now. They need those doctors than ever before.

There was nothing like that written in all the article.

How will a company organized visa waiver when they are not the embassy.

Scam of the highest order.

So you think, the Nigerian govt won't be inform by the UK embassy if they wanted doctors.

Let's think here.

Another govt is coming to take your citizens during an emergency period and the government of Nigeria is not aware.

Pls, let's think, where has the UK granted any foreign nationals even doctors visas on arrival.

I hope you know that nes is a UK govt agency not a private organization, can a UK govt agency over ride its embassy in Nigeria.

Lastly, Why only nigeria?

The truth will be out soon

It seems thinking and asking questions in Nigeria is a big No, people just believe anything said to them.

The way the headline painted it you'd think the NIS had a grouse against them Doctors.

Remove Nigeria from your mind.

If it were in USA and there's an international flight chartered for only 42 persons and on inspection 58 people are seen on board, with only two possessing visa do you think the flight will be cleared for take off?
undecided
Let's be objective bikonu

The NIS doesn't owe them apologies for doing their job.
It's the same us that complain Nigerians don't do their jobs without partiality and when it's done we're also the same persons crying foul.

Who's an employment agency to grant you international flight waiver? For the doctors to even fall for that nonsense shows they've not done proper immigration research.

Don't quote me.i won't answer.

So, how would these doctors feed their families? You expect them to continue to work without basic equipment like PPE? Would this love save them from the imminent death from COVID-19?

Do you know how much hatred and antagonism these doctors suffer from the so called people? Just go through threads about doctors on this site and see for yourself.

How do you expect doctors to continue to function in societies that don't appreciate them? You know how much the hazard allowance is? And this government isn't even paying this regularly!
U
Let me just stop here.
That hatred is a two way street. You cant treat people like dirt and expect them to show you love in return. You try to pin this on the people but you refuse to address the nonchalant attitude of your NMA and tose in charge of your welfare. See the example of how COVID entered Ilorin. A senior doctor was trying to do a favour for his friend and broke all rules, put the lives of his colleagues in danger all because of money. Funny you people wont blame that senior doctor because he is oga. It is the fault of the common man on the street. Lets talk of the funds for equipment that your ogas siphon yet you dont confront them. Its easier to blame the average joe on the street.
Similar to how soldiers behave. The generals eat their welfare money and make this BH war impossible yet they will prefer to blame "bloody civilians" and protect those same generals.
In Nigheria its all about looking for who you pass to vent on ignoring the real issues.

In the abroad you are praying to go to not all patients show that love. They have nasty patients, the best part is you dont have the optio of getting angry like you would in Naija and walk off or ignore the patient

When some Nigerians read anything Europe or America they believe it's all juicy.
Bless you brother. They forget that you will pay taxes too and the taxes no be here. I was talking to a friend who migrsted he said honestly the money was not as much as he thought. He said he is just grateful that he isliving in a stable environment thats all

the article didnt make mention of Plab.

Plab 1 is written in Nigeria, the next exam is in September and you do not do interview to write plab 2

plab 2 is written in the UK

PLAB 2 was cancelled but the restart date is from 13 August 2020

Mr, they collected 500 pound from 54 people that is 27,000 pounds

Guy if you are Doctor in the UK you will know NES is a very credible organization that wouldn't want to spoil their image. Visa waivers were granted, may be some miscommunication with the immigration service.

Seemingly bad news sells. But soon enough these Doctors will travel out and it wouldn't be in the news.

NES would not appoint a Doctor without appropriate GMC registration. And it was stated in the article that Doctors must have GMC registration. That should cover for writing Plab, which off course is not the only route for obtaining GMC registration

Bros, this is an unfair comment. Medical training in Nigeria is undoubtedly one of the cheapest in the world, and we do have some excellent doctors. A doctor who knows what he's doing can be a millionaire in Nigeria because he is allowed to have his own private practice. I don't like when these developed countries poach our talents that would have been enmeshed in debts had they trained abroad. Let us develop our health sector.

Until we do the right things, people wouldn't try turn into martyrs. Do you know that after residency people are not guaranteed jobs? Do you know many consultants are doing private practices because they do not have jobs? I cannot ask people to stay when I can't afford to give them money to live their life.

The doctors could not have attempted to travel unless there was an arrangement with UKVI. They are intellectuals. UKVI granted them visa waiver.

During this COVID period, if you are a doctor from anywhere in the world and you have a job offer in the UK. You can travel to the UK without visa. Your employer will apply for visa waiver on your behalf and UKVI will issue you a visa waiver letter which will allow you entry into the UK.
They started it during this COVID period because UK visa office in Nigeria and many other places are closed because of the pandemic. That's why they put that in place so that doctors who want to travel to UK to resume job can do that.

I guess the problem was that their employer did not carry the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) along.
UK visa office in Nigeria will soon reopen, so they will leave soonest

I no sure day this guy read d post at all , u just jumped into commenting with out read , they were granted Visa waiver , to be issued on arrival ,the problem is not that the employer didn't contact Nigerian immigration ,their employees know that no country will like to loose their medical staffs at this covid critical time , that is why they didn't contact Nigerian immigration officials , and d doctors also knows that if they tell anybody that they are running away that immigration officials will not allow them , that was why they said they were going for training, how can a house member be taking 26million ,a senator 36million home every month while a medical doctor is paid 80k, our foolishness is beyond repair

Most often you Nigerians at home only view the salary differences, but have you asked yourself the bills the doctors in UK pay on monthly basis. I live in the diaspora and i know that a Nigerian doctor can own a house of his own quickly (not Mortgage) while the so called big salary doctor in UK will struggle to pay bills.

What on God's earth are you saying!

Greed?

So, would you continue to work in a firm that pays you almost nothing, doesn't pay you regularly, treats you badly and exposes you to all kinds of risk when you have a much better alternative? Put yourself in the shoes of medics and be sincere.

How do you expect these guys to feed their children and wives? Would you take care of their children when THEY DIE OF COVID-19?

I'm sure you've read of soldiers opting out because our government has failed to provide them with ammo.

The oath doctors take doesn't limit them to any country. Doctors save lives irrespective of your nationality. So, even though they travel to the moon, as far as they are saving lives, no wahala.

How much are your thieving politicians paid? What do they even do sef other than to steal our commonwealth?

You may not know this but let me just tell you. A good chunk (way over fifty percent) of our doctors are writing series of professional exams to help them escape this country. Go ask the medical students around... You'd find that most of them are also planning to leave this country as soon as possible. Nurses aren't left out.

If you want this to stop, kindly ask the government to treat our doctors better.
