Daniel hurriedly packed up his belongings, he was going out on a lunch date with Bari. He packed the books and took them to the shelf then turned around to arrange his desk. Someone knocked on the door, he sighed tiredly before muttering a "Come in".


"Hello doctor" Lina called out popping her head into the office.


"Oh, it's you, Thank God, i thought it was a patient coming to see me" he went to his laptop, shut it down and then covered it.


"Are you going for lunch? that's nice, i even came to call you so that we could go together" Lina said, stepping in fully.


"Yea, am going out for lunch, but not at the hospital canteen, am eating out" he smiled.


"With her?" she asked, a frown gracing her face.


"If you mean Bari, yes, with her" he stared at her briefly before searching for something in the drawer.


"What do you even see in her?" she hissed.


"What other men have not been seeing" he grinned.


"Am I not good enough for you? I have been here, making sure you get recovered from the heartbreak and shock your ex girlfriend caused you, i nursed your wound with you, then all of a sudden, one kpanla fish from nowhere came to spoil everything" she looked irritated.


"First of all, Lina, i never saw you in that aspect, i took you as my friend and colleague. You are the only nurse who am very close to, in this hospital. secondly, i won't have you call Bari names" he growled.


"Daniel, were you blind to not have noticed that i like you? that broomstick doesn't even know half of the things i know about you"


"Lina" he growled angrily "Don't you dare insult her, again, am warning you"


"Don't make me think you are clueless, i showed you signs severally, but you never told me that you feel anything for me" she scoffed.


"I only see you as my friend and nothing more. besides, how was i to know that you have feelings for me, am not a spirit, you know?" he chuckled slightly.


"You are so clueless" she hissed. "Have you told her? does she know?" she asked, almost immediately.


"Told her what?" Daniel asked raising his brows in confusion.


"That you are a murderer. Have you told her that you have killed somebody before?" she asked casually.


"Don't bring that up, it's a forgotten issue and i don't have plans of ruining our relationship with it" he sneered.


"I bet she will dump your ass when she finds out that you are a murderer, that someone's blood is on your hands, that you killed an innocent lady who had a bright future like every other person"


"Shut up" he shrieked. "Never mention that to me, again" he winced, painfully.


"Daniel, can't you see? I know the bad side of you and am still sticking around, doesn't that tell you anything? Daniel, I love you, even with your past, i can't love you less" she whispered, moving to where he stood.


"You have lost it. I will see you when i get back" he said walking away from her, to the door. "If you don't mind, i need to lock my office" he added looking at her. She walked slowly to him, stared at him for some seconds before leaving the office.
