Bros, this Orlu you like to mention upandan, have you been there of recent?

There is no one motorable street, no public water supply, pits were deliberately dug in town centre to drain floods instead of completing the town’s urban drainage tunnel started by a former governor from far away Bende in Abia state.

Politicians from Orlu zone since BC have been building Owerri state capital. It’s like they were told that unless state capital becomes like London, no dice for Orlu.

what do nigerians gain from exaggeration? If not for the sensible ones among us that posted the nice videos of Owerri you would be saying the same.

Lol.. bro I tire o, the way things are exaggerated here. You would be wondering if the whole south-east is a refuse dump. Whereas when compared with the rest of the country it's one of the most developed regions

I have always said the SE is the most developed region of Nigeria, but exaggeration and loud complaining hasn't let anyone see the obvious. There's really nothing you won't find in our region in great number. Lagos has Ikoyi and places like that but it also has a level of poverty you won't find in the anywhere in the SE. And the SE is growing the fastest too. I stopped sending people money when I went back and saw how many people were hiring and looking for work and how those in the SE that aren't working are not working out of arrogance of choice. 'How can I be a bricklayer blah blah blah'. Meanwhile anyone humble enough to do the work is living 20x better the ones using big boy to dodge success.

But if you ask these people without being on the ground you will think everyone is days from dying.

Taking them down will cost a lot of money. Ihedioha government dismantled the lightings but found it difficult uprooting the pillars and gave up after one or two attempts. Your idea of just fixing garden lamps on them is an easy and cheaper solution but will not be as beautiful as they used to be.

Ok. Sensible man, you needed to have posted any photos of Orlu here to debunk my assertion.

Present Imo state was created with Owerri, Orlu and Okigwe as urban centres.

Since 2007, ndi arurala and most poorly educated in charge of Imo state relegated Orlu and Okigwe to rural area status, waste the state’s resources on building and demolishing and rebuilding and rebuild infrastructures in Owerri; because Owerri people bamboozled them that state capital must be developed first before any other place in the state.

After telling Ohakim and Okorocha to build us flyovers and tunnels in Owerri to make Owerri look like other big cities, they are now telling present leaders of the state to build us skyscrapers in Owerri.

Iberiberism: 1) no town planner would build flyover unless options of roundabout and traffic lights are not possible.

2) Skyscrapers in Owerri with little electricity is waste of money, even though we may have to close rest of Imo state to come to settle in Owerri.

I used to believe that skyscrapers are a waste as well but im seeing it may be the only thing that can save us from ravishing our environment. The taller we build the less land we use. The less land we use the less deforestation. Less deforestation = less erosion, less dust, less heat, less pollution, better air, scenic beauty

I'm from Orlu zone. We have been in power for most of Imos history. Nobody chose to disenfranchise us or bamboozle us. Rather we chose to build up Owerri, so don't blame Owerri ppl. You're right that the flyover craze is embarrassing and counterproductive. Poor development choice

Chief Evan Enwerem was Governor of Imo state for 20 months between 1991 to 1993.

Chief Evan Enwerem established IMSU in Owerri temporarily, he saw FUTO, AICE and Imopoly in Owerri then.

Since then, selfish or lily livered politicians from Orlu zone have not been able to remove IMSU from Owerri. Ohakim who called IMSU a pigsty could have removed IMSU from Owerri if he had 2nd term.

The level of intellect you display on this forum does not qualify you to engage in this type of discussion.

You are correct, but how do you power skyscrapers without electricity?

Do you know there are communities that haven't had light for about 2years in Imo state? Do you know the light in Owerri from Egbu to Nekede area is epileptic?

So, how will the skyscrapers be powered?

(Please, don't say generators or solar)

With our land size, it'll be an embarrassment if we are not,but we can always do better.

Try visiting places like Udenwa estate, you'll see what our people are building, and unlike Lekki, they have good drinkable water.

Do you also know that the prices of things are more expensive in the East than the west, especially foodstuffs?

All I'm saying is, our people are making it, but we just expect the government to do their own part.

Government must be total with its development stride, ensuring that no part of the state is left to decay.

Allocation assigned to local government areas should be used to better the lots of the locals. I hope they return to the issue of local government autonomy again.

When local communities receive well-deserved government attention, we will stem the rural-to-urban migration tide. In the end, we won't have overcrowded cities.

As regards population explosion, skewed development has made Lagos a mess today, and Imo State government must not replicate that in the state

Just look at this cursed dirty Aba miscreant. In order to divert attention, you are busy tagging him as chino. If you put half the effort you are wasting here everyday to discuss about your dead Abia state, things would have changed for your state, at least a little. Abia is the worst state in Nigeria but you decided to hide here everyday while abandoning your Abia state.

One problem with Abia people, is that they are never concerned about their state. That's the reason it is so easy for failures and looters to continue raping and looting the state since 1999 till date, with nothing to show except filth, bad roads, backwardness etc.

I am sure you might have viewed this thread about your Aba NGWA. Probably the OP is your kinsman that got tired of the situation in Abia state.

Some shoot-my-self-on-the-feet persons from Oru-Awoomamma up to Ohaji in Orlu senatorial district would rather have all development projects of government to be in Owerri, instead of anywhere in Orlu or elsewhere in Orlu zone.

Did you not read an Oru-Awo handler here questioning why anybody would ask for removal of any development project like tertiary education institutions clustered in Owerri, from Owerri to any other place in Imo state?

One Mgbidi man, Ralph Nwosu, who is Imo Works Commissioner has refused to reconstruct any urban roads in Orlu, not even the roads given out by Ihedioha for reconstruction in Orlu. But he is proud displaying online the urban roads of Okigwe and Owerri his Works Ministry has either completed or completing.

Result: that Mgbidi-Awo to Ohaji side of Orlu zone gets nothing from government, Orlu and rest of Orlu zone get nothing from government.

Ikega from Awomamma

You deceive yourself and ENTERTAIN those of you here who don’t believe that government development projects in Imo state can go beyond the state capital, Owerri.

This road in Orlu municipal local government area leads to IMSUTH in Orlu. The road has been like this since APC came to Imo state.

98% of urban roads in Orlu are more or less like this. Una no shame for Imo state. This type of road can’t exist anywhere else in Nigeria.

Imo APC still exists in this part of Orlu zone. If Imo APC does not change its trade mark of demolishing and rebuilding and demolishing and rebuilding in state capital but abandoned rest of the state, we shall soon set to ROOT OUT APC TOTALLY from Imo state.

People who live in Owerri capital territory judge Imo APC not from what’s rebuilt in Owerri, but from development projects in their hometowns.

My brother, I asked a question earlier. Let me ask it again.

What ONGOING constituency project is your house of assembly member carrying out in Orlu autonomous community?

Please, this question goes to everybody from Imo state also.

WE ARE RIGHT to constantly checkmate the state government, but what are we doing about our house of assembly members?

What impact are those guys making on their communities? What stops them from building their community markets? (Atleast this one no dey chop too much money)

What stops them from renovating the health centres in their community? (There was a thread on front-page sometimes ago about a health centre in an Imo community and I just shook my head)

What stops them from constructing blocks of classroom in the primary schools in their community?

What are our house of Assembly members doing?

You can spew yarn to suit your interests but truth remains:

2007 to 2019, politicians with pin-size intelligence thought Orlu urban LGA is property of former governor Achike Udenwa. They destroyed nearly every government development project in Orlu.

Okorocha enlarged four roads in Orlu urban LGA, that lead to the main road to his Ideato South home.

Orlu urban roads were laid since the 1970s. But just about 2% of them were paved during Udenwa’s govt. Those paved were left to decay.

Imo government has destroyed and rebuilt some urban roads in Owerri more than three times since then.
Those who created states didn’t imagine that what has been happening in Imo state could be.
Re: Few Pics From Imo State by longayink: 7:02pm On Jul 12, 2020
I often regret to condescending to join in roads roads roads discussion here.

Nit wits on this thread in Imo state don’t even know that treated pipe borne water supply for all in Imo state is more important than roads they crave for the state capital.

It’s a pity.

Imo state Commissioner for Works have been naming every road and track route in the state capital he has completed or about to complete, and the water supply project of Owerri zone.

But I don’t know if he thinks people in his Mgbidi hometown deserve treated public water supply system.

Now if the dude cannot get the factual facts correctly one wonders where he pulls his facts.

What template in governance justifies yearly demolition and rebuilding by successive governors of Imo state in your Owerri area while rest of Imo state remain wretched?

Stop being selfish.

Population of Owerri is about 850,000 people. Population of Orlu is about 430,000. Google.

Owerri has about 200,000 students who come and leave. So what capital investment can government do in Orlu that can’t yield, unless you sabotage it?

You lice-like there must learn to invest your capital in your Owerri zone, but let IMSG invest its capital in all parts of the state.

Enwerem from Owerri zone governed Imo state for 20 months from 1991 to 1993. Common research, you can’t make. Put Evan Enwerem on Google search.

Enwerem saw FUTO, AICE and Polynekede in Owerri zone, yet he established IMSU in Owerri. That’s capital investment in Imo state which you wanted to lecture us about?
