Context, and individual understanding, is what determines meaning. In particular contexts, "oh believers run" may mean "oh believers increase in your faith and think fast." You know this tingz. It's the only reason you'd even suggest it. I'm absolutely certain we'd argue if anyone interpreted it as "oh believers sit on your ass and refuse to use your brain". It's all about intention see. For scriptural interpretation to be right it has to abide by certain principles.

Let me try out an interpretation on you. Genesis 1:28 reads:

God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

Pretty straightforward you'd say. Now try this: Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground. And God will bless you.

Would you argue that my interpretation is not true or that that is precisely not how things actually work? Is it not true that if one does not "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground." No God will bless one? If you think not, you try it and see. It's however not how many see it though, with most thinking they can sit on their ass and feed on manna.

Let's try another more controversial one.

But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

One would think eating the fruit of a tree of knowledge of good and evil ought to make one know what good and evil tastes like and help one know the difference between the two. But here is God allegedly stating that if you remain ignorant you will live. Imagine if I claimed that's not God speaking and what's happened here is:

A group among them have twisted their tongues with the book, that you may suppose it to be from the book. But it is not from the book. And they say, “It is from God,” though it is not from God. And they knowingly speak a lie against God. Sura 3:78

After all, we go on to read that they did not certainly die, and "when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

Now tell, would you not claim I am advocating the worship of a snake?

Yet, hear Jesus himself stating:

"Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; otherwise believe because of the works themselves. John 14:11

Essentially, if you can't believe what you read at least do not deny the evidence that is before your eyes.

So, let's check the evidence. Did Adam and Eve's eyes not open when they ate of the fruit of a tree of knowledge of good and evil so they saw they were naked? Did they die?

Now imagine I twist the meaning of words to such an extent to imply that Adam and Eve's eyes did not open and they died when they ate of the fruit of a tree of knowledge of good and evil, would I not be lying, or at the very least, be twisting God into my own ignorant understanding? Yet I bet you that's the understanding many get from the text, which if you doubt can be tested by posting this in the Christian section and watch how many stone me.

And yet here is Jesus parroting Satan and Psalm 82:6 saying:

is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?

Sounds like what a snake said to me. Or is there no similarity between the above and "when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

Or would one argue that one can be like God if one does not know what good and evil tastes like? Jesus sure went about opening eyes and teaching the difference between good and evil!

I've repeatedly pointed out to you, God did not write the Quran. The Angel Gabriel told the Prophet Mohammad who could not write who then recited it to his followers who eventually wrote it down on camel bones. You're going to have to forgive me for assuming a snake who could meddle with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden would not have meddled with whatever we may understand to be the Word of God. For in truth, that which we call God's Word is no better than mere mud until one breaths the breathe of understanding in to it. It is for us therefore to eat of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil so we can determine the difference between the two or our understanding would be wonky to say the least and we remain stupid and ignorant and most certainly die!

As to what the fruit of a tree of knowledge of good and evil might be, I just love how Christ put it, or rather, my own interpretation of how Christ put it:

Thou shalt not just accept one single view that some people give of things or one will be malnourished!

It's why we have brains tingz. And it's why I discuss with you too. For in all honesty, "use your brain" is what you are asking people to do in just about every post of yours that I've read and its why most treat you as we treat Jesus Christ. Except you yourself are not as smart in your doings thank God. Or we would have crucified you by now and made you god tingz!

Ok.

Can you read what you just spend over 10mins to compose and type and see how irrational it is, all in a bid to defend a blind argument? At times it is better to ignore instead of creating an irrational rebuttal.

Sometimes, instead of just admitting ones own ignorance and lack of understanding some will completely fail to take a dose of their own medicine and "ignore" what is way beyond their ability to comprehend and will claim it is others who are irrational.

Its a pity tru2. Thankfully, the person whom it is a response to has way more information on what has been an ongoing conversation over many threads and is not ignorant like you are.

Bro, what you wrote did not make sense. Don't try to make sense out of a nonsense. What you wrote up there is 100% nonsense and your ummah will accept the fact that your wrote nonsense.

Next time when you write, proofread your work and ensure that your audience are well communicated. You write for people to read and understand and not for your personal 'consumption'. I know you are intelligent but learn when people try to point out your limitations: don't be arrogant.

First, True2god, you are correct. I do not write for my own consumption. I write to be understood by others and I happen to believe I'm good at it, at expressing myself at least. And I surely must have proofread it because in all honesty, only one single i is out of place. You might try and find it, and any others, which I hope you'd accept indicates my limitations.

I am buda. Very arrogant buda! And I want my limitations pointed out because I then get to see them and improve on them and become even more very arrogant buda. That said, I apologise for calling you ignorant. You aren't ignorant. Your response definitely was ignorant but you yourself are definitely not ignorant. I am sorry. Please accept my apology for calling you ignorant instead of your response which was an ignorant response to what you had not fully understood.

I happen to think that I conveyed a particular point, one that I myself claimed would not go down well with any ummah whoever she Is. I hinted I might be crucified for it for it is devil worship for some, which if you understood - unless we'd claim I foretold - would be rather ironic since your reaction was indeed the kneejerk reaction I predicted. I think you think I ought to parrot what others say lol so you can hear what you've always heard. Yet I see you have been at work on some past posts to know that buda is use buda own head arrogant buda, and not some use ummah head buda.

Could you, now that you've gone back and read a few of my posts, kindly pick a bit of what you say is "irrational" and "100% nonsense" and tell me how so? Let's see first if you understand at all.

Again, I, the very arrogant use own head buda apologise for being rude to you, I am sorry. Know that this was proofread 10 times and contains imperfections.

The headache is intentional. I give you a headache because you are not used to using your head just as your legs will hurt if you're not used to running 10k.

I'm knocking on your head with my English JB and you just can't not read it, lol. But with the exercise, you'll run 10k easy. I promise.

Questions, meanwhile, are always welcomed.

Atheism is illegal in 13 islamic countries.
why is this your issue?. Some countries also have weird laws or sometimes wild laws that you can't even imagine. In some places it is illegal to get drunk in a bar lol. It is illegal to spit in public. It is punishable offence to misspell country or state name incorrectly. It is illegal to catapult. These are things easily done and get away with it in Nigeria for instance. But if a nigerian learns about this he thinks those countries are crazy the same way you think those islamic countries are. In some state in US, it is illegal to grow crops in your backyard. Some 15 yrs ago a woman was sentenced to 35 yrs in jail for that. I heard she appealed but i didnt hear the outcome. Sounds crazy inst?. This is somethign you easily do in Nigeria if you are nigerian. And in the British law there are 8 laws that Queen doesn't have to follow. Isn't that wonderful?. So leave Islamic people alone. Lwa is law. In some places you can’t eat fried chicken with utensils. Abeg, don't we have freedom to eat the way we want?. Remember these are western laws not aabic or africa. In some places in western world no billboards allowed. There are also laws like No “fancy” bike riding, No snowballs, Don’t advertise on tombstones, No cursing while driving << if this one enforced in Nigeria lots of people are gonna go to jail. Americans for instance curse freely for the most part.

Also it is illegal in some places to dance to the national anthem. It is illegal to use an x-ray device to determine someone’s shoe size. It is illegal to walk or dance on sunday i:e No working (or dancing!) on Sundays. In some areas it is illegal to panhandle. You must have state permit to panhandle. Vicks inhalers are forbidden in Japan. It is illegal to eat on church steps in Italy. Feed the pigeons and you’ll break the law in San Francisco. I ti illegal to take picture at Airport in one of these EU countries. Keep your pants on in Greece or go to jail. In Spain, it is illegal and against the law to wear swimming attire on public streets. You can not smoke in public in Singapore. Very serious offence.

Under Denmark’s Law on Personal Names, their final choice must come from a pre-approved list of 7,000 names. If they want to go with something more unique, they need to get government approval. It is illegal in Greece to wear high heels shoes. You being a woman and lover of high heels will get in trouble. Stepping on Thai money is illegal because it has the likeness of the Thai royal family on it. Talomnh about market women in nigeria who squeeze money under their cloth or bra would be a great crime right there. Don’t bring Polish potatoes into Britain, it is illegal. Don’t cheat on exams in Bangladesh. In Nigeria where you must sleep with lecture for mark comes to mind lol.

Most of these countries mentioned are champion of democracy and freedom. Unfortunately, thier laws here are in conflict with what freedom and democracy stand for.

1. @ bold, you just admitted that the laws in 13 islamic countries that make atheism illegal are wild laws. So, you acknowledge that it is wrong.

2. Some of the "wild" laws you quoted are lies and exaggerations. I have a feeling that you copied this defence from somewhere. It is not illegal to grow crops in your own backyard anywhere in the USA. That is a blatant lie.

3. All of the weird laws you quoted are not as evil or in direct violation of human rights like the banning of atheism in Islamic countries. You are comparing apples to oranges.

4. Do you know how many muslims have entered depression as a result of maltreatment and discrimination in China? The oppression they face is brutal. How would you like to be banned from prayers and from your mosque? How would you like to be arrested for praising Allah? If you cannot stand to be treated like an animal, why are you defending it when it happens to others because they are atheists? Atheism should never be illegal

Bcus govt banned them doesnt make them less Atheists. You can not force people to accept faith. Common sense. Faith is in the heart. How do you know someone is atheist?. Is it until he starts insulting theists?. If that's the superficial definition then it is wrong to insult people. Unfortunate that's what you guys do.

If you cannot stand to be treated like an animal, why are you defending it when it happens to others because they are atheists? Atheism should never be illegal

2. It is not illegal to grow crops in your own backyard anywhere in the USA. That is a blatant lie.
Do you live in US to be blunt like this?. It happened years ago. I saw it on mainstream media and everyone was like is this a joke?. I think it was 2010 or 2011 or 2012 it happened. Not necessarily entire US. It depends on local laws. Some states or cities make it illegal but they don't really take offence serious. Govt has genuine excuse though. From what i read then, govt said whoever grows crops in his yard is not contributing to economy. They want you to shop at supermarkets. Of Course it is hard for cops to catch people because you aren't gonna call cops on yourself. But if you have nosy neighbor you may be reported.

You are taking a law specific to the growth of marijuana (and other restricted drug related plants like poppies for cocaine) and generalising it. There is no law banning the growth of crops as a whole in your backyard.

How do you know a muslim?

How do I know that you are a muslim?

You pray. You say that you believe in Allah. You go to mosques.

How do you know an atheist?

An atheist states that he doesnt believe in God- this is not insulting any religion but it will get you arrested in Saudi Arabia
An atheist can go to atheist or humanist convention- this is not insulting any religion but it will get you arrested
An atheist can engage in debates with religious people- this will also get you arrested in Saudi

Sorry buddy, they did not mention marijuana. They said crops. Ofcourse you may not grow marijuana in the first place. Marijuana is illegal. Point blank. I also said in some places, even if it is illegal they don't really take it serious which is what happened to me in 2010. I also said that excuse given then by the govt was that it is because you grow crop in your yard you are not contributing to the economy. Does that sound like marijuana to you?.

There are crazy laws that are not enforced that's why many don't know until you actually experience it. But for you to say there is no law banning growing crops generally, bro, becareful what you wish for. I know what I am talking about. So check this out below. Does it looks like marijuana to you?

The lady was being charged for planting it in her FRONT yard not BACK yard. There is whole lot of difference there. Besides the rule wasn't you can't plant food crops, the rule was your front yard vegetation is to be suitable for front yards. They would not have troubled her if she planted them in the BACK.

I reiterate there is no such law banning you from planting crops in your BACK yard.

Empiree is a joker.

The case was rightly dismissed as the community of planters made the case viral. This was 9 years ago. Even with this case, precedent has been set showing that one is allowed to plant vegetables in their compound in America.

Empiree, you have no point.

Well, good for her. That it was discharged doesn't mean it is not a crime. She simply had a good lawyer. That aside, i can understand this is talking about front yard. Going forward, this is still outrageous to people like Nigerians that are pretty much lawless. Everything goes over there. Anyway, you guys picked only on this amongst hosts of other crazy laws. It's all good though.

So my point is, respect those 13 muslim countries anti-atheist law. It is none of your business to tell them what is and what is not good for the countries. In the future it may change. Sudan recently abolished apostasy law. I am sure it was due to pressure from country like Israel bcus Israel and Sudan just strengthened their political ties lately. Yet Germany maintains penalty for holocaust denial backed by Israel and other several EU countries. Dont people have right to believe or not to believe in it just like Atheists believe there is no God?.. Isn't this in conflict with freedom of speech they propagate all the time?. It is punishable offence to deny Holocaust in Germany. Matter of fact an elderly woman was sentenced to 14 months in prison for this few years back. So what makes this alright but the muslims countries' ban on Atheist is not alright?

It's because Islam was built on lies and threats. Early Muslims were forced to accept the religion through the wars against non-Muslim countries.

Don't quote me if you only rely on what your scholars and alfas told about Islam. Make sure you have done independent research about Islam, otherwise I won't reply zombies.

Comparing the law of your imaginary allah (who should be perfect) with man made laws (which is not expected to be perfect) is extremely flawed. Wtf is wrong with Muslims of nairaland.

So if a law was passed in your country banning Muslims and Islam you'll be OK with it?

answer the question. It is punishable offense to deny Holocaust in Germany. Isn't that anti-freedom of speech?.
