Le124:I guess this story is one sided Op and I strongly presume it is written to justify the ineptitudes of the man(huby) What do you expect from the woman that had gone out for work n comes back home at night?.The said huby must have an Ego issue.Do you expect her to go into the kitchen and start cooking at odd hour knowning fully well that her hubby is at home unengaged. There is nothing wrong if the huby does the cooking n takes care of the child while awaiting the arrival of the wife.He needs to be supportive considering the fact that he is currently not engaged. I was once in that shoe,my wife comes home as late as 10pm due to the nature of her job,All I do is to place a call to her n prepare her favorite, make her relax, freshen up while I serve her. Once a woman contribute significantly to the growth of the family, pls support n pamper her.She is doing what the hubby ought to do,pls support and appreciate her while you pray n work towards how you will get yourself back on track. |

I see nothing wrong in lending a helping hand while your woman is away working. Where i will hav a problem is if the wife is being disrespectful towards the man. A breadwinner wife must know how to honor her jobless hubby pending when he get a new job |

khia:Why not use glasses before quoting me na, was she not doing the normal wo rks when the husband was okay? The man LOST HIS JOB! I know that he too wouldn't be happy staying home jobless now! Haba So because she is the and the man is jobless, the man must do 100% home chores, while the woman is busy pressing phone Koburu, You better wake up! |

SavageResponse:The point is she should continue doing the chores she did when they both had their jobs. When the husband was working, she was working too, and that didn't hinder her from doing her basic duties. So, that the husband lost his job and can't provide in the meantime is not an excuse for her to stop doing those basic duties. It shouldn't change anything in the way things were run. It should still be the same routine. Did she have to take up more jobs? If not, she has no excuse of abandoning all the house chores she normally does. The only thing I see here is that she doesn't really have her pay to herself like before since she now has to use most of it for the family. But this is not an excuse to stop doing the domestic duties she she used to do. This is when she gets to prove how faithful and supportive she is. A good excuse would be if she took up more jobs, after her husband lost his, in order to provide well for the house. This would be quite understandable, since taken up more jobs would mean less available time for house work. |

There is nothing bad with the husband taking care of domestics during his downtime I mean he doesn't expect the over worked woman to still do all of that But it shudnt be rubbed in his face, it should be done in love |

Nothing happened suddenly. Their relationship has obviously been strained. This is what happens when money is used as a tool of authority in the home. "I bring in the money" talk. But who knows, she could just be a bad wife. |

Le124:I'm going to break this down so all of you selfish, spoiled, entitled babies can understand. 1. It's exhausting and stressful to work outside of the home and then come back home to chores, cooking, and minding the kids, be it the woman or the man. 2. If both partners are going to work outside of the home it is only fair for them to share household chores, and yes that means taking care of THEIR 4 month old child, if there is a problem with that, logic suggest that they go to the traditional way of marriage, the husband takes care of the outside and the wife takes care of the inside. 3. Sure, I understand that you men believe you bought and paid for a commodity to do whatever you say, but remember you chose these women to be your life long companions. They deserve to be cared for and loved. You can't claim to love someone yet treat them as your slave. A loving husband would show compassion. 4. To the wives, STOP being doormats and STOP raising your son's like this, teach them to be self sufficient so they won't have to depend on anyone, teach your daughters as well. |

Ayemileto:In as much as you made good points, you perhaps, are so focused on what the man should do, and not how the woman should step up also. You systematically absorb the woman of the the responsibility to be a good wife, and to be a pillar of support during difficult time. |

khia:1. True, but she has been doing it before, how about continuing doing it or at least, periodically, in a way that it doesnt seems like abdication? 2. Your judgement should be based on the information given, and not teach them how to run their home. Even at that, your judgement makes no sense. 3. Generalisation based on your own misunderstanding. If truly there is a man out there that believes he bought and paid for his wife in the context that you mean, they should be in the extreme minority, and society are harsh on such men. 4. How exactly is the woman a doormat based on the information given? Again like the poster I quoted above, you exempt the lady from any responsibility or hold her to any standard, but the man even at his lowest point, grilled to the bone. All what you wrote simplty exposes your bias towards men and does no justification to the case at hand. ![]() |

I know it’s a fake story and I’m angry I’m commenting sef but anyway.............so you expect a woman to go out all day looking for the daily bread and then come home and still be doing all the house chores? So what exactly will be the man’s function in that house o? The man better tighten his belt and embrace his tasks with his chest. Other option is to go out there and get a job. |

Always "my friend, my friend" yet knows every bit of the story as if he was present when it happened. This "your friend" doesn't know how to use Nairaland? Or the Internet? He cannot create a new account to post this story? If you truthfully say it is you, will you die? ![]() |

Bola146:No it isn't the man fault he is jobless, well at least I hope it isn't, but my point is he is unemployed right now so he can help pick up the slack by doing some household chores to make it less stressful on the wife and don't say it wasn't stressful before because it was. Helping his wife would ease her stress and even give her the desire to put it on him in the bedroom. No woman has the energy for that if she's being worked like a slave. At least he should prepare dinner, damn it. ![]() |

| Re: The Wife Provides For The House And The Man Does The House Work. Is It Good? by Sixfeetbelle: 12:18pm On Jul 17, 2020 |
Martinez39s:I probably wouldn't but C'est la vie ![]() Don't get me wrong. I don't support the wife lording over him, but the part where he's helping out around the house as a way to allow her a little freedom from the chores. I'm all for men being handy around the house despite their lordship title. See, even though I'm for equality, I also preach for harmony in the home. Recently on a "dating independent ladies" thread, a guy's comment read that he'd never allow his woman to earn more than him at any point or else he'll leave the marriage. At first I was aghast at his response, but after taking a step back, I realised men's ego is more fragile than they let on and that guy was the forerunner for what most of them won't admit. Probably due to the society we grew up in, men have been put on this pedestal of always being "head of the home", and I am biased in that regard. So I always tow the part where the man must always earn more than the woman in the home, not as much as he can now oppress her, but as much as that allows her to support the home financially. To any man, I'd always push that he must endeavour to provide for the home financially without ceasing. In the case this does not happen, he should switch roles with the wife temporarily to balance the home. So, yes, I probably made that comment based on emotions. |

| Re: The Wife Provides For The House And The Man Does The House Work. Is It Good? by khia: 10:15am On Jul 21, 2020 |
Babara1994:Like I said before, if he is working outside of the home and she is the homemaker it's only obvious that she will take care of the household but if both husband and wife are working outside of.the home they both should share the household chores. It's unfair to put that burden on one person if they both are working. |
