Really.... credit card with no UK history ?

Yes, with overdraft as well. The account opening will be organised by the company in the first place

Happy Sunday my people.

Regarding this post study visa/graduate route, will the 2/3years count towards long residence of 10years if you are still on student route?

Just sort of confused because a part of the guidance says cannot be used for settlement and I am wondering if that's not going against home office rules of 10 continuous years of legal residence.

From what I gather they just returning the old style back. In the old style after 5 years of any work Visa you can get ILR / settlement , however PSW while you can use it to work. It didnt count as part of 5 years settlement.

However for 10 years both the years spent as a student and psw plus extra all count. 10 years as long as you been here legally somehow

My friend wanted to play a fast one, had 2 years psw, then 3 years hsmp and technically had been working in a global company for 5 years so applied for ilr with confidence that he has 5 years payslips . He was denied that psw doesn't count towards ilr and had to apply for hsmp extension... so cases like that

HSBC is a very newly arrived expatriate oriented bank. They can also offer you a credit card straight off. I would suggest asking your employer for an advance on your salary instead. such advances are interest free .

Goodluck to you.
Hsbc credit card straight off? Maybe in the past. After one year of banking with them, they are still refusing my credit card app.

Yes I was offered one when I opened a current account with HSBC with a credit limit of £2k5. The current account also came with an OD of £3k. I was barely 2wks in UK when the account was opened.

Wow .... HSBC tried then. It took me almost 3 years here and almost begging before Halifax gave me £500....

The type of accommodation depends on you and your budget. You can use the links below for your search:

https://m.spareroom.co.uk/flatshare/essex?ensuite=Y

https://m.spareroom.co.uk/flatshare/essex

https://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-rent/Essex.html

https://www.zoopla.co.uk/to-rent/property/essex/

You'd need to have been resident in the UK for some time before qualifying for loans or credit so no.

Thanks man.

Good morning Everyone.

Re: All the folks struggling with CC, Is it that Amex has been cancelled on this platform? Have you tried them? Cause they are pretty lenient and there was a time their good news was talked about a lot here.

They gave me a CC on my 1st try and I’m not even a salary earner. Worth having a look at.

Cheers.

Same here. I was offered a £500 CC when I started banking with them but I refused out of fear/not understanding the way CC works. After I had gathered info on this platform and from others, I went back, applied and was offered a £2k CC and £4k OD.

Not all shops accept Amex cards because their charges are high.

True. Most do though. I think it’s an easy entry into the whole CC matter if you are having difficulty elsewhere. If they reject your application then something might be seriously wrong somewhere.

'We don’t take deposits, but you do need to pay 2 weeks advance rent when you move in. This will be a credit on your rent account.'

Can someone please explain to me what is meant by the above if stated for accommodation in the UK? Weekly rent is £130 pw. How much payment is one expected to make?

By the time you collect keys..... £260.00 must be credited in your name........ So at any given time, you have a deposit of 2 weeks........ grin

Although they don't take deposits.......... cheesy

NB : A wayo to avoid deposit scheme ......

So with payment of £260 ,one gets the key? And will the next payment be after 2 weeks or 1 week time? If one week, what then happens to the extra one week payment given before entering?

Is buddy up same as two people sharing a room?

Without reading your contract, you're on a weekly rent pattern .....

Feels like a job, where your employer holds one week in hand......... grin

Not deposit ó, just a week in hand....... A bird in hand, they say is better than 20 deposits in the forest............ cheesy

You bid on what you see....... They are very trustworthy, but every auction is a gamble.......

The auction house would take pictures and state their initial assessment...

I would give you a personal example. I bought a used LHD drive jaguar from Japan at under £150.00 (vehicle was described as not driveable, not starting, key not turning)......

I took a gamble, bought the vehicle. It was shipped to Tilbury. On arrival, after paying all dues, I went to Tilbury with my toolkit and a brand new battery.........

Collected keys, as described vehicle not turning, I put new battery in and the beast woke up to life......

The jaguar served me in Nigeria for over 11 years, till I sold it........ cheesy
