CHAPTER THIRTY ONE


It was a Wednesday morning, a month since Daniel died. Bari sat behind her sewing machine, staring into space. She had brought her daughter to the shop and her girls seemed to be all over the little girl. Just within the space of an hour, the girl had eaten five meat pies already.


"You girls are spoiling her. It's not even afternoon yet and she has eaten enough" Bari told the girls.


"Will you be bringing her to the shop every day?" Oluchi, one of the girls asked.


"No, so that you girls will kill her with food abi?" Bari chuckled.


"We are not complaining, Ma. She is so cute and little" another girl said, caressing the little girls hair.


"Ella, leave them, they need to work now, come here" Bari said to the little girl who walked slowly to her.


"Good morning, Bari" Rowland greeted, his face full of smile.


"Nawa oooo, i never said you should come this early, this is just 10:41am and you are already here" Bari said with a hiss.


"I was just in a haste to see my daughter" he smiled. Bari looked at the girls, they were busy with work, she sighed.


"Ella dear, you will play with Uncle here, mommy has work to do, okay?" she patted the girl's head.


"Okay mommy" she nodded. Rowland took her and went to the extreme of the shop. He brought out a teddy bear and gave it to the girl who snatched it from him happily.


Bari shrugged and started work for the day. She took two pieces of cloth and placed them under the needle, she matched the pedal and started sewing, the sound echoed loudly in the shop.


"Workaholic" Chioma chuckled, from the entrance of the shop.


"Crazy girlfriend, why are you peeping? come inside na" Bari laughed.


"Okay ooo, i wanted to peep first sha" she replied walking into the shop.


"Aunty Chioma good morning" the girls greeted simultaneously.


"Morning, girls" she replied with a smile, strutting towards Bari.


"Whatsup?" Bari asked.


"The sky is up" Chioma chuckled, sitting down.


"Nonsense human being" Bari hissed.


"Ehe best friend, there is this gown one lady wore yesterday, at the function i went to, it was beautiful, i visible gawk" she said admiringly and opened her bag to take her phone "I took some pictures, here, check it out" she gave Bari her phone.


"Oh wow, it's beautiful. It's a simple style though, just a cut on the stomach and straight down to the knee. It will fit you well well, you know you have the ass for it" She chuckled.


"If you are a guy eehn, you would have become a womanizer, kai. See how you are busy analysing my body. come this girl, am suspecting you, I hope you are not turning to Les Les?"


Bari broke into a loud laugh that brought tears to her eyes. "Les Les, Chai, this girl will not kill me. When i see something that is beautiful, i admire it na" she replied.


"Don't admire anything abeg, na man supposed admire, no be you" she rolled her eyes.


"Okay Ma. Yea, that reminds me, how is Austin doing?"


"He is fine o Jare, just busy with work" Chioma replied.


"Why hasn't he popped the question yet?"


"He is busy with work, but e no concern me, if i wait for him and he doesn't do anything, i might consider a serious person" she said with a wave of the hand.


"Don't even dare, that guy is a good guy, give him time"


"Unfortunately, i don't have time, i want to have my kids in the days of my youth, are you not seeing you and your Mom? you even look like siblings" she sighed.


"You will. Don't compare yourself with my mom, she got married at the age of 18 and had me at the age 20" Bari shrugged.


"Whatever" she rolled her eyes. "How is she doing anyways, i have not really had time to come visit her, i hope she is not angry with me?" she added.


"The old lady is fine, giving me trouble" she hissed.


"I don't blame her jooore, it's the Joy of motherhood. What of Ella? how is she?" she asked.


"Ella is fine, she is even here in the shop, but with Rowland" she sneered at her last statement.


"Oh yeah, today is Wednesday. I sha hope you are not trying to consider taking him back?"


"God forbid bad thing. I rather die unmarried than taking him back" she hissed.


"Okay ooo. How far with Daniel's brother and his investigations?"


"The last time i heard from him was when he said he needed a mini warehouse, i don't know if he has gotten or not" she shrugged.


"Okay" Chioma replied.








NAZE IMO STATE



"We have arrived" Acid announced, killing the running engine. David peeped out of the van, in search of the supermarket.


"Well i can't see the supermarket" David muttered.


"The G.P.S brought us here, so i guess it will be around, somewhere" Acid replied.


"Hack into the CCTV, i need to survey the inside first" David told Acid.


"Obed, pass me my computer, please" Acid said, stretching his hand out to the back.


"Are you even sure there is a CCTV there? i mean this place is a village" Obed chuckled.


"There is only one way to find out" Acid muttered, typing on his computer.


"But what if she has left the supermarket?" Kyle asked.


"We will call her on phone again" Obed scoffed.


"All done, boss. This is the inside of the supermarket" Acid said, giving David the computer.


"I have seen her, she is still there" David muttered. Kyle peeped from the back, at the computer "Yes, we got the right person" he muttered.


"So what's next?" Obed asked.


"Your work now, Obed. We need to know if she is the owner of the supermarket or not" David said.


"Okay, so what should i do?"


"You will go to the supermarket, just buy anything you want to buy, but make sure to place a bug in there, from the conversations, we will not only know if she owns the shop, we will also know where she lives" David replied with a grin.


"Do i need to turn off the CCTV CAMERA for you?" Acid asked.


"No need, i have my ways" Obed chuckled.


"Good luck, Obed" David muttered. Obed smiled, wore a face cap and got down from the Van.
