CHAPTER TWENTY EIGHT

Bari was in the living room with her daughter, the girl was seated between Bari's legs while she made her hair. The little girl cried out again for the third time since they started making the hair.


"What is it again, Ella?" Bari asked her, with a sigh.


"It's paining me" she replied in a whining manner.


"Oya sorry. I will put Pj mask for you later, and i will also let you watch Elena of Avalor, you will also watch Sophia the first. Infact you will watch any cartoon you want, if only you will sit calmly and let me make your hair in peace" she smiled at the little girl, she knew she had gotten her.


The little girl turned happily to stare at Bari "Yes Mommy, i want Sophia the first, i want to be a princess like her" she giggled happily.


"Of course darling, you will only be a princess when am done making your hair. Does Sophia have half braided hair?" she chuckled.


"No Mommy, she does not. i will not cry again, i will let you make my hair so that i can look like a princess" she turned her back, giving Bari the signal to continue. Bari chuckled and was about to continue when someone knocked on the door.


"I will be right back, Ella" she stood up and walked to the door.


"Good day, Bari" Rowland greeted, smiling broadly at her.


"What is it you want again?" Bari asked, irritated.


"Please, let me in, i want us to talk" he said, straining his head, trying to get a peek of the room.


"No, you are not welcomed, go back" she hissed.


"I bought something for my daughter, i just wish you would give me the chance to give it to her and also have a little conversation with her, like know what she likes, her favorite food. I have missed the eighth years of her life and am ready to make it up to her even if it takes years"


"Thank you sir, for your kindness, but thanks, we don't need your help. I want you to turn your back now and bounce" she glared angrily at him.


"Bariludu" her mother called from behind. "I didn't raise you to be rude to people, let the young man come in, now" she said in a commanding manner.


"But Mom, i don't want him inside my house" she complained.


"Let the young man in, i said"

Bari hissed and opened the door wider for Rowland, he stepped in muttering a "thank you" to the old woman.


"Ella and i will be in the room. Now you both should sit down and talk like adults" she left with the little girl.


"What do you want?" Bari asked.


"I want you and my daughter. let's become a family" he replied, instantly.


"You don't even want one thing but two, oshey chairman" she hailed him in a mocking manner.


"Am sorry, very very sorry, i know i messed up and i have realized my mistakes, if only you can just give me another chance, please". he said.


"Okay then. This is how we will do it. I will give you only a day in a week to meet with her. You will pick any day of the week. You won't go out with her because i don't trust you, which means, you will play with her at the shop"


"What about you?" he asked.


"What about me what?" she eyed him.


"I want you too, Bari" he muttered softly.


"Look at this one. I gave you allow and you are looking for allowance. This guy you are bold ooo. If you are not okay with the arrangement, then you forget it" she hissed.


"Okay, am sorry for complaining. Am okay with it, i don't normally have much work on Wednesdays, so i think Wednesdays should be fine"


"Good. I will be taking her along with me to the shop, every Wednesday"


"Thank you so much. Can i at least see her now"


"I thought you were about to leave?" she turned to stare at him.


"Let me just see and talk to her for a minute" he pleaded.


"Okay" she eyed him briefly before calling the little girl.

Jeff wiped the sweat off his face as he moved the goods from the van to the supermarket. His wife had frowned at that, she had people she paid to do the lifting but Jeff told her to save the money and let him do it. He walked to the fridge, after he was done, picked a bottle of water and in a second, he emptied the content.


"I told you not to bother, i have people that i pay to do that" Paulina complained.


"You should be happy, i made you save your money" He replied.


"How does it even sound to you? that my husband is acting like a labourer in my own shop. It doesn't make sense to me" she rolled her eyes.


"I was doing nothing at home and instead of been completely useless, i decided to come here and become useful" he looked around the shop and then took his gaze back to his wife. "Is there any other thing to do?" he added.


"You are not serious. Am not letting you do anything, the doctor said you shouldn't do any strenuous work." she eyed him.


"Forget what the doc..." Jeff began to say, when he felt a splitting pain in his head "aaaah" he shrieked and held his head.


"What is it Jeff?" Paulina asked, rushing to him.


"My head, i f..eel like so..me people are having a wres..tling tournament in my head. It is sp..litt..ing into two" he groaned.


"Oh my goodness, we need to get you to the hospital now" Paulina cried out. She told her sales girl to look after the shop while she took Jeff out.
