On this Bolt trying to lower fares further, maybe we should consider porting to EkoCab. I see potential in EkoCab for two key reasons:
1. It is State Government backed;
2. Sterling Bank is financing

Why don't we form a "body" or a "committee" to engage EkoCab as it plans to launch. I have inside information that they have an initial 100 tokunbo cars to give out on hire purchase to drivers. The cap is #2,000,000 and the interest is 17% per annum for 2 years. That means a #2,680,000 payment over 2 years - or approximately #26,800 per week. If you take a car that is worth #1,500,000; your total payment over 2 years will be #2,010,000 or #20,100 per week. And the whole remittance thing is flexible.

I understand good cars can be registered on the platform too.

EkoCab has the potential to knock both Uber and Bolt out of the Lagos market. Maybe it's time we all key in.

Lastly, e-hailing should always be seen as a side hustle. There are other legit hustles that pay off well. For example, I know someone who brings in Palm Oil into Lagos from Benin. Another packages and sells yam flour on Jumia. Yet another brings in kilishi from Abuja. They all make good money.

My 2 Kobo.

wait wait wait who’s the ‘we’ you talking about? Are you now driving? But you said you’re a COO and a book writer! You don add uber join? Abi na uber all along but you sey fantasize about being a coo grin

Ohh... Didn't know this. I thought the rating was dependent on riders and Activity Score was for acceptance or cancellation of rides.

Well, that explains why my ratings dropped badly. I've been declining and cancelling a lot of trips of late. Today, I even tried not accepting a trip, I was thrown offline immediately with a teasing message telling me that another driver has accepted the trip... cheesy cheesy

These days, morale just low. Today, I just vex go offline go house after lots of cancellations.

It is well sha...

@ izzou thanks Boss.

Cancellation and trip rejections don't really affect ratings.
The only cancellation part that affects your rating, is when your cancel with the option I DO NOT WISH TO GO WITH THIS RIDER. Where you have input a reason why you don't want to go on that trip. I've critically observed this and noticed that Bolt evaluates those reasons you input and reflect it on your ratings accordingly.

I Cancel (on average) 4 trips in a day, but it doesn't affect my ratings (9.5 currently) . It only affects my activity score.

Again, completing card trips boasts your ratings too.

I'm a legit member of this community. I did e-hailing - Uber and Bolt - for 3 years. I've earned my place in this community.

Whatever you think I am on this thread, think again. I've made contributions on this thread as far back as 2017. 2020 is my fourth year on this thread. Again, I'm a legit member of this community. I've earned for myself the right to use "we."

If you continue cancelling 4 trips in a day, you might wake up one morning to see your rating fall Yakata. Mind you there is a threshold of 22% on all cancellations, if u pass this limit automatically you will be blocked. All cancellations affects rating whether you want to go with rider or not. You just have to keep it minimal. Accepting Trips request without seeing destination @ times boost rating. These kind of trips are likely to be taking you to bad places, drivers reject them alot. Embarking on such trips can increase your rating. I took out time to study how the system works.

Do you know the worst part?

Even if it was the riders that were cancelling on you, it will still affect your rating

If you cancel, e go affect am
If dem cancel, e go affect am

Any which way of cancellation, the rating is headed for the rocks grin

Lol. Aside from cancellations, It seems Bolt app comes with hidden voice monitoring feature on it, The manner at which you communicate with riders matters alot too.

Didn't know this ohh

I know there was a night it rained....I was in my house around 10pm and was getting requests from Marina. All of them cancelled because of long pick-up...The cancellation was almost up to 20.

The next morning, my rating was nearing 4.5, from 4.8+

On Uber you see what rate a rider gives you. In fact, you know who gives what rate at any given time except the person doesn't rate you immediately. All in all, you can monitor your rate easily.

I took a rider from anthony to ogudu this evening with traffic on ikorodu road, trip ended 850..rider told me our prices are ridiculously too low, he paid 1500 instead.and he mentioned something like this to me too

Not just low, but terribly insulting. I get this remark a lot from Riders. Some Riders are dumb founded at the price that they stare at my phone's screen a bit confused that I had to confirm it by words to assure them.

You guys should join #uberlyft group on Facebook and see what Drivers earn abroad, in LA, new York city, Florida etc their fares are fantastic. Drivers there hardly run more than 4 trips and they're done for that day.

Anyways, I have missiled #bolt my message for the day on Facebook, is better than complaining and doing nothing.

You can never know which rider rated you low on uber. I repeat. Never.
Infact, there are weeks on uber your ratings remain same even after completing trips.

You re wrong bro. Kindly watch the rating as they give you stars maybe you will understand what I'm saying. After completing trips and your rate doesn't change, it means the rider didn't rate you. He or she may do so later. But watch it when you end a trip and rwmind the rider to rate you and he or she does so immediately. You will see the difference. Check next time.

But if you insist it is not possible, I rest my case.

Yep! I dig, but to me all still remains a variable hustle that requires time, risk and strength. Unlike sitting down in the office issuing receipt or permit and for u to answer anyone on time, they must squeeze hand to shake u. Chai! I remember when I was learning d role of a marine personnel, to get import permit from DPR, you will settle up to 500k, those top men no longer work, they have errand loyalist that do the stress. There's this woman at PPMC that stamps document's use to claim subsidy. Heaven knows she won't touch that document if you don't greet her with 20k upward , either the photocopy won't be clear enough or the hard cover is not good enough.

It's pointless not seeing it from that angle, let's not act brand new, we r products of a broken society and who we r. There r traits u must have by being a Nigerian and worst if you r born in Lagos, Warri or PH. I'm not a saint, full lasgidi rep, but they r things I just don't have energy in again. Riders r owing me as I type now, I even pick someone from v.i to surulere yesterday 4hrs traffic on surge, trip ended at almost 20k. It's the matter that I am trying to settle with Uber and they r telling me that's the right estimation after review. Told rider to pulse payment, I'm not sharp or dull, my joy and peace is everything to me

Note: Learnt in Dubai, they r not offering Nigerians job, e get why.

I think its a trait all black men will have to live by. If a black man enters into an elevator with a white woman, she clings her purse. Till date I wonder how we got here, is it a reputation we've built over the years or we found ourselves here as a result of, "someone has to be blamed", so its easy to blame the black man?

An African american comedian once said, "Americans stole a whole country from the Indians and nobody said a thing, but if a black man were to look at a candy store for far too long, they call the cops"

Its a tough one. So to the young man who wanted aunty radu to help receive an item on his behalf, you see where its all coming from. This is the black mans reality ... don't blame her if she has trust issues!
