You mean to tell me a rail network in a country of 200 million people is not commercially viable? In that case road transportation is not also viable. A these young shall grow, chisco and all must be making huge loss. What about air transportation, they too must not be commercially viable.

The above is from 2 years ago.
I saw a recent interview where he said the funds generated on kaduna Abuja route not enough to fund operations and they needed fgn subsidies to operate.

So much stupidity in this country. One person cannot sell a country, you can however leverage your assets to secure loans. It is done with IMF loans, private loans such as the one with China is not unique. Sovereignity in the contract refers to the country(Nigeria) not able to use it's status as a sovereign nation to get out of paying its debts. It simply means if the government refuses to pay, China will come for their money!

Can you in your massive wisdom tell us what you mean by " China will come for their money"? I guess you're wiser than the members of rep and the minister who read out the terms of the contract himself. Oga Solomon

This is not about pdp or apc. This is about nigeria - you and me. So signing off nigeria's sovereignty is commendable en? With people like this Nigeria has no hope. What amaechi did is nothing but treason and demands the death penalty. You took a foreign loan without the approval of the law makers and signed off the country in the process. In Saner climes both buhari and amaechi are supposed to be in prison by now. It's time we stop looking at things from pdp and apc angle and start looking at it from the Nigerian angle because those guys don't give a fvck about you and me.

When you have people we call leaders who are supposed to protect and serve us are busy selling our sovereignty and they see nothing wrong with it should be charged as treason, this is a serious issue, they are supposed to read the agreement line by line instead they rush to sign for fear China will back out for reading the fine prints.
What do you think China will call us, smart people? No, they will call us zombies who know nothing.

you are the one that is more foolish. to sell the sovereignty of Nigeria to china shows that the people in involve does not love their country only they are after their pocket. no fraud is bigger than this crime against the state. PDP were better negotiators than this fraud this government has committed against the Nigeria state.

I was even defending the deal until I saw a video where Amaechi explained the controversial clause.

While I thought that the deal said that the Chinese should go after the project done with the loan, the deal, according to the minister, says that they can grab any national asset of their choice.

Only God knows what these idiots have been signing behind our backs until the house of reps exposed this clause. Nigerian government is not known to repay loans.

No doubt, Nigeria is technically finished

Jeeez is that actually the agreement? I thought it's just only the assets that the loan was used to build this people have finished us.

I hope you've heard of IMF or World Bank before, did you bother to read the loan agreements 9ja signed, how is it different to this one from China? Una just like to make noise instead of using logic!
Repayment plan for a country loan doesn't take the charge of sovereignty of collateral either it focuses on the product payment,is a means to recoup investment and interest in international lending not total acquisition, product percentage payment is often used e.g crude etc.Well u kind of a layman when it comes to finance so I will forgive your ignorance.

You're an idiot! Have you picked up the signed contract for the loan and examined it yourself? Before you call someone ignorant learn to read. Let me break it down to you, it simply states that Nigeria cannot use the excuse of being a sovereign nation to get out of paying its debt, it simply means they could come after almost any assets in Nigeria to recover the debt in case of default or failure to pay.

In case you don't understand, we have had countries in the past use the excuse of war, bankruptcy, natural disasters and more to get out of paying their debts. It's nothing new, so before you call someone ignorant, do a little bit of research, IT WON'T KILL YOU!

Yes I am wiser than majority of the so called quacks in Congress and certainly more qualified than most of them! When you sign a loan you have to put down collaterals. In this case the Nigerian government used its assets as collateral. When China comes for its money, it will go through international court, it can't just come and take over Nigeria. THIS IS NOT WAR!

The court would more than likely seize Nigerian assets abroad and require us to pay the amount owed. This is how all loans work, big or small. Anything else you would like to know from your wise king? grin grin grin

Lol. Wise King.
Literally, it doesn't mean that China will take over Nigeria as a country, but from the terms of the contract as explained by the minister himself suggests that when Nigeria defaults in payment of the loan China can actually go for any Nigeria asset of their choice. So which asset do you think China would go for? They'll definitely go for the most important and valuable that'll affect Nigeria negatively and thereby controlling Nigerian economy. Correct me if I'm wrong.

No they cannot just go for any asset, where do you people get this nonsense from? A $400 million debt does not mean China can just take over Lagos or our airports. Like I explained earlier, an international court of arbitrations will decide what will happen and before any internal assets are taken, all our external assets will be sized or sold first.

Y'all need to stop this scare tactics, we have been borrowing money from China since the Early 1990s and nothing dey happen, this age of social media and sensation news have got y'all tripping!

The major issue here is that this administration has borrowed so much already and still borrowing without any strong means of payment, oil is no longer booming like it used to, we're not that good in Agriculture and other our internal generated revenue is not even enough to take care of our budget.. In the event that all external assets are seized, don't you think it'll affect us? Well, let's just pray and hope we don't default.

Now you're talking! See this is a different but more logical argument than 9ja has been sold or the rubbish the reps were spewing. First question we must ask is this: Does the Nigerian government have the right to borrow money? Next question: Who or what is holding them accountable? We have a bunch of rogue people leading a clueless populace and we expect what exactly? All Chinese infrastructural contracts should be reviewed.... If this things are not done we will regret.

We the masses would regret it the most... It us better not to let the case go under the rug like other cases... Zambia is now a Chinese colony, Ethiopia etc..

Nigeria is in line... The only trick they uses loan, infrastructure construction etc

Go to YouTube and confirm what I said.

On other thread I just said my mind, not knowing that it is actually happening..

Chinese would give you bronze and collect platinum from you that is how it is

Apc would finish us but I won't only blame them pdp started it.
